Respected Sir, I submitted my application last week and this monday i got a notice that my evaluators have submitted the recommendations. So, in that regard my application is complete. I want to know, when will I hear about the status of application as Selected for interview or not. I may have a On site trip planned for me and i need to reply to my manager regarding this. The trip may possibly be some where towards end august.

Thanks Sir/Madam

Lokesh,

You will be intmated somewhere around mid October.

Admissions Team

Thanks Sir for such a quick reply.

Nitin,

Please note that ISB is a knowledge imparting institution and not a placement agency. Whether you get a salary of 25 lac or not, depends entirely on you, we do not guarantee anything. ISB provides you with world class facilities and gives you a platform that is at par with globally recognized schools. Now, how well you use this to benefit yourself depends upon your personal capabilities.
Regarding international placements, 111 international offers were made. For more details on placements, please follow the link http://www.isb.edu/pgp/Placement_Highlights.Shtml

Dear Admissions team

I understand that the institute is meant for learning / development.....
While that is one of the objectives.. am not enrolling there to do research on the application quantum mechanics in management.
The capability of any institution to reassure entrants on its ability to provide them with academic insight, lifelong network and a rewarding career is a critical determinant.
I am appaled by your defensive answer and your disregard for the basics. It doesnt inspire the confidence in me and many of my colleagues to look thru the fancy website and claimed salary figures and take a leap.
Thanks
Nitin

Sir,

I am 39 years old, having 5 years experience in Govt in a non-executive capacity and 15 years in a PSU as a manager. Will my experience as a non-executive go against me? Also, would I be considered too old?

My qualification: MA in English

Thanks

I do not know what ISB has to say to your reply, but still putting in a personal opinion.

As far as I know, the '100 pc placements guaranteed' tag is largely an Indian creation and is believed in little outside. I don't think the world's best b-schools even guarantee a job nor do people going there expect a guaranteed job.

Your dissatisfaction with the answer would have been okay had this been a thread about an Indian b-school which promises the 100 pc placement tag. But as far as I know ISB works on a completely different format, different admission processes and offers different expectations. So you cannot put them in the same yardstick as a b-school that works on the Indian format.

To provide an analogy - I don't think you can get angry at the owner of an Italian restaurant because he does not serve Thai food. You ought to know the difference between Italian food and Thai food yourself before you set your expectations. That is my personal opinion though.

I would still like to know what ISB has to say about it.

Umesh,

Your post is appalling to say the least. I dont think any school tells its students "Come to us. We can get you better placed" Students get themselves placed. As Apurv pointed out, this 100% placement is a largely Indian phenomenon. YOU Network, YOU get placed, YOU get the salary. Its all YOU. ISB is now an internationally recognised school and it didnt happen just like that. I wish you'd take the time out to understand how that happened.

I am also appalled at how you think its the institute's responsibility to give to you in writing that they can place you at a higher salary than you currently get. I'd be very surprised if any school in world does that.
As the Admissions Team rightly pointed out, it is how you utilise the resources at ISB that matters the most. ISB is not a fly-by-night operation nor your local street MBA college. Its a school that has worked hard to gain its reputation. I'm sure a smart guy like you would know that numbers are just that- Numbers. If there exists an average, then there also exists numbers higher than that to constitute the average. Perhaps you missed the Rs1 Crore placements that ISB had last year??

Academic insights and lifelong network is something any good school can provide. ISB is an excellent school. A rewarding career is determined by YOU not by ISB. That's a personal choice.

Disregard for basics? I think ISB replied perfectly to your question. Perhaps reframing your question would have gotten an answer that you liked?

I don't even want to go into your statement of taking a leap. If you think ISB is some magic wand that'll get you a better job, then there's a lot of thinking that you need to do with respect to International B-Schools. ISB is an International B-School, the proffs are the best in the world, and for a relatively new school, its got a good amount of buzz around it. Have you done ANY research on ISB??

Finally, I'm appalled at your attitude towards the Admission Team. A little more respect for them would have been commendable. Politeness would get you a lot further than your current attitude. The Admission Team is doing YOU a favour by freely available on this public forum. Please dont misuse it.

Jane Austen,

Your work exp as well as your age will not go against you. However, you will have to convince the Admissions committee as to why you want to opt for an MBA at this stage of your life.

Mods, not sure whether I am not supposed to reply on this thread. If so, would you pls delete the post?

@umeshlives:

As the mods pointed out, "100% Placement" is an Indian phenomenon. If you do research on the International B-Schools outside India, you will find this as the recommeded criteria for evaluating the placements:

"The % of students getting placed within 3 months of completion of the program" - this should be a figure you are comfortable with.

Note that nowhere is the institution's role in the placement process discussed.

Cheers

Sipi,

GMAT is one of the criterions we look for while evaluating applications. There are no cut-off scores - a good score strengthens your application but does not guarantee admission while a low score dos not necessarily mean exclusion. The overall application would need to convince the Admissions Committee of the candidate's suitability.

Hi,

I wish to apply to ISB in Round1.

I am currently pursuing a certification course which would get over by September. And I would get the certificate by mid-October.

Can I still include this certification in the awards and activities section of the application? If I'm selected for the interviews, I would be able to produce the certificate as the interviews would be held in late October (I have chosen Hyderabad as my interview location).

Regards,
Applicant

Dear Applicant,

Please mention details of your certificate course in the optional essay and not under awards & activities. You can bring the certificate in case you are short listed for an interview.

Hello Mr. Menon,

First of all, thanks a lot for taking your time and answering all the questions patiently.

I have a question regarding the Recos.
I would prefer the recos from my bosses from ex-organization to the present one for various reasons. A couple of my managers have also left that organization now. Can I still use their recos as their official mail id had changed?

thanks
Rav
