Hi Team,
I wanted to know how does the certifcation programs like CFA and PRM taken by ISB. Does it add value to the academic profile for ISB admissions?
Thanks and regards,
Ritesh
Dear Menon Sir,
I sincerely salute u for the taking out your precious time to answer all the qurries.i want to do an Management programme from ISB.
i am Kiran with graduation in Civil Engineering with 6 years of full time working experience in Construction. I heard from one of my friends that ISB offers a Exe-PGP in Real estate management. if so what should be my GMAT score to be elegible and should i need any additional Credentials.
Sir,
Thanks for taking questions at Pagalguy.
My Questions:
1. How good is ISB for enterpreneurship in comparison to Bapson and other B-schools in US?
2. Does ISB prepares case studies as well, or do they use case studies prepared by different universities?
3. Does ISB offers lifetime membership to ISB resources to its students (eg. SBS offers virtual library and other resources for alumni)?
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Chirag
Chirag,
1) Every applicants needs/expectations are different and no particular school can fulfill all of them. You, yourself have to decide which school is a good fit for you. In case you need any information about ISB, please write to us at [email protected]
2) We do prepare our own case studies but the number is not very high yet as the school is still in a nascent stage. However, we use a number of case studies prepared by foreign universities.
3) As of now all alums have free access to recreational facilities at ISB. However, we might introduce a charge in near future. To make use of the Library resources, the alumni need to make a deposit of Rs. 5000/- (refundable)

Dear Mr Menon and Adcom,
Thanks for the useful information provided in this thread.
I have few questions :
1. As ISB has increased the number of seats this year (560), How ISB plans to cope with this increase . I feel it would lead to a pressure on current resources ; I am particularly apprehensive about the quality of lectures , Individual attention to a student and increased competition during placements.
2. How important is AWA score in deciding admision. If Someone has a low score in AWA can he/she submit IELTS scores hoping that it would counter low AWA score. To add a perspective here I would like to state that I have a score of 4/6 in AWA but score of 8/9 in IELTS (General)
3. From ISB's point of view; Is there any difference in the Onsite Exp. (i.e. person sent abroad by a Domestic company ) and foriegn employment (i.e. person going abroad , taking up job and working on permanent rolls of a foriegn employer). Which case has an advantage?
Many Thanks
Lets_be_friends,
1) ISB started with a little over 120 students in its first batch. However, the batch strength was never expected to remain the same over the coming years. The infrastructure and facilities, since the inception, were planned to accommodate a larger number of students.
You need not be concerned about the quality of lectures as the whole class is divided into sections and the lectures are held separately. Moreover, the class strength of the sections will remain the same next year also.
Till now, ISB has never faced any placement related problems. The Placement Cell can efficiently handle 560 students.
2) AWA section tests your analytical abilities whereas IELTS tests your knowledge of English as a language. So, you cannot compensate your AWA score with a high IELTS score.
3) None has an advantage over the other. Please keep in mind that we are looking for depth and breadth of experience and not your location of work. An applicant working in India, who has good knowledge of his work will always, be preferred above another applicant who is working abroad but knows nothing about his work.

Kirankbangari,
ISB does not offer a Exe-PGP in Real estate management. We only offer a Post Graduate Programme in Management with specializations in the following:
- Analytical Finance
- Entrepreneurship
- Information Technology Management
- Operations Management
- Strategic Marketing
- Strategy and Leadership
There is no cut off score for GMAT. Your admission will depend on your complete application. Please elaborate on should i need any additional Credentials.

Thanks for putting together a comparative sheet regarding various loan options on your site. Could you please also let us know about various pre-payment penalties for the various loan options, if there are any? I need this to compare against some other loan options.
Thanks a lot.
Mask,
There is no pre-payment penalty levied on the loan amount, if the payment has been made directly by the student who has borrowed it. If the student is taking another loan from any other corporate/bank, there will be a penalty levied.

I have been following the ISB calendar for a while looking for courses, workshops and modules relevant to students with a background in the media and entertainment industry (I do believe that most modules are relevant to all kinds of industry for eg. New product management or Brand management can be a subject choice for someone looking at the media and communication industry). Apart from Advertising which is offered as an elective in one of the terms I want to know is if there are other modules specifically designed towards communication, media and entertainment.
Thanks
Dear Mr. Menon,
Thank you so much for taking your time out to answer our queries.
I`am a IT professional with around 4 years of work exp(Around 2 years of which have been internation experience, in Bangkok and USA). I have average acads and decent extra curriculars. However, In the 4 years of work exp i have worked for 3 different comapnies
2 years for the first company,
10 months as a consultant in the second comapny in bangkok.
and since been working as a consultant for my first company(Now in USA).However my workprofile is not as great here.do you think switching again would drastically effect my chances in ISB?although i`am planning to do my MBA in 2010 so if i switch now i should be having almost 2 years in the new co..My work profile will be something like this
2 years - Software engineer- Company1(INDIA)
10 months - Consultant - Company2(Bangkok)
18 months - consultant - comapny1(USA)
22 - 24 months - consultant - comapny3(USA)
I think the obvious answer that i can get from anyone would be 'its Ok if you can validate the reasons of shifting'. However, i would appreciate if you could give me a more realistic answer(ignoring the exceptional scenarios)???

Rupakcharan,
As long as you are not switching jobs every 2-3 months, there should be no problem. We understand the nature of IT industry and thus, your switching jobs will not be looked at in a negative light.

Hi,
ISB has essays for the admission process. As I have seen the essay many thoughts have been running around in my mind. As essay needs to be well built is their anyone who can guide me from ISB in building my essays.
Is it possible to get ISB students to tell their experience they had while writing essays given by ISB at the time of admission?
Can their be a one to one interaction between me and the ISB student?

Daredtodream,
We do not have any specific modules related to communications as of now. However, we do plan to introduce some new electives related to Media but we are not sure as to when that will happen.
Regarding placements, last year only a handful of students opted for Media companies. Keeping in mind the demand, we invited only a few media houses. The average incoming salary (media) last year was around Rs. 5 lac and the average outgoing salary (media) was around Rs. 15 lac. A list of recruiters is available on our website http://isb.edu/PGP/RecruitingCompanies.Shtml?menuid=108

Dear Sir,
I have completed my M.Tech in 2007 and my B.E. in 2005. I have been working with an MNC since June 2007 and want to take admission in ISB for the academic year 2009-10. I know i am short of couple of months to satisfy 2 years work ex criteria. Prior to joining as a permanent employee, I have done my full time internship for 9 months(during which i was paid as well) in the company I am working with right now as part of my M.Tech curriculum. Will this internship experience count as a work ex?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Vikram

You posted the same question twice yesterday. And you've posted it again today!! I deleted them for the simple reason that they are multiple posts. As for your question, it has already been answered by the Ad Team. Please read the previous page
