Dear Sir,
On this thread, I got a lot of useful information but I feel we really missed out on two important things.
1.What are the major challenges that ISB and its students are facing?
2.What are the focus areas on which ISB is working to take it to the league of major global business schools?
I believe these question are important to make an informed decision.
Thanks,
Sravan
Dear Mr. Menon,
Could you please tell me, how a one year MBA course would be beneficial to me, considering the fact that
a) I am not in a hurry to complete my graduation, and
b) am not aiming to recoup my investment quickly.
Thank you very Much
Anind
Dear Dr. Menon,
I am applying to ISB for R1. I believe that my profile is quite different. I am from govt. services and my job nature is varying. I have more than 5 years of experience in areas like Technology Forecasting, Technology Development Assistance, Public Private Partnership for higher education, E-learning initiatives, Industry-Academia Interaction, SME cluster development etc.
I have published papers and presented them in National and International conferences. I have worked in programmes of National importance and also worked closely with few international organizations like World Bank and National Academies.
I am an M. Tech by qualification and have good academics and decent extra curricular. I believe I can bring lot of diversity in the class room.
Can these facts cover up a relatively low GMAT score? I am not really asking for a profile check. I just want to know whether you have such kind of profile in previous batches and whether my exp is really diverse or not and would help me even with a relatively lower GMAT score?
Thanks and regards
Dear sir
I have a small query. Please excuse me if this question has already been asked. I searched but didn't find it in some random posts I checked.
My query is are the numbers of words (300 words max) limits for essays for ISB are hard limits.
Will any small variation (10-12 words) be allowed or not?
Thanks
-Anish
Dear Dr. Menon,
I would greatly appreciate if you could answer the following questions.
1. I am an NRI, but I would definitely prefer a personal interview over a telephonic interview, and I would not mind flying to Mumbai for the interview rounds (R1) if I get selected. Is it possible to opt for personal interview despite applying from the US?
2. When are the expected personal interview dates for R1. Knowing an approximate week would be helpful.
3. I have a GMAT score of 760, but a low AWA score of 5.0. Will the low AWA score hurt my chances?
4. I had a 6 month internship (before my current 3 yr work experience) at an investment bank in NY during my Masters, should that count toward the "Total Work Experience" field in the application?
5. I was a graduate Research Assistant (a well paid position) during my Masters, should I include that as part of my Work Experience.
6. Do International Applicants have to scan their transcripts and mark sheets?
Thank you for taking time to answer all our queries.
Regards,
Dev

I have a query regarding the applications. I have completed "Certificate in General Insurance" provided by American Institute of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Insurance Institute of America (AICPCU/IIA). Where can I mention this on the application. I completed this certification to help in my job (working for an Auto Insurance provider in the US).
Thanks in advance.

Anish, the application software will not support words beyond 300 in number. As a result, any extra words in your essay will be deleted.

Dev,
- Yes, you can opt for a personal interview.
- For Mumbai, the tentative interview dates are 21 - 24 October, 08. For other cities, please visit the link http://www.isb.edu/PGPApp/User/Default.aspx#

- You have a decent AWA score. You need not worry on this end.
- If your internship was not a part of any academic requirement, then it will count towards total work exp.
- No
- No, transcripts and mark sheets will be required only at the time of interview.

Hello Sir,
I have a couple of queries regarding admission procedure.
1> Though I have a IT profile, the roles i have played are very skewed and not Tech related. I have been potraying more of a consultant/buisness analyst role which my manager(recommender) and my client would approve of.
Will ISB consider the role played by the individual or would the IT background bring him in the IT category of profiles.
2> I know GMAT scores are primary indicators of academic ability of students. But as a good GMAT can cover up poor acads of a prospective candidate. Does ISB also believe a not so good GMAT say '650/5.0' could be covered up by strong Acads throughout the prospective candidates academic life. My point being I had a bad day with the GMAT and due to personal issues I am unable to retake it, but I do believe that I am equiped acads wise (as shown by my undergrad and schooling records) to undergo the rigrous 1 year PGPM at ISB. Is it worthwhile to make this argument to Adcom? or am I being too optimistic?

Dear Sir,
I attended one of the Interactive Seminars & would be really thankful, if you could clear the following doubts/queries, in order to submt a better application & REAL chance:-
MYSELF
I am into niche marketing & International Business & Managemnet se
gment & have even pursuing a entrepreneual in the same. I hold posiions simultaneously in an NGO & a Sports Club/ Federation, Media groups, Co-authored book etc.
1. POOR ACADEMICS - in Xth (ill health) & graduation (personal reasons), ok & improvement in 12th & Professional courses like CIC, GNIIT , Certificate courses etc. Will getting at the class avg (720) GMAT validate my academia basket & give me a chance or evn 690 will do .
2. WORK EX - apart from 4 yrs of exp (at the SSI & SME level) -Managerial & I One yr Enterpreneual Exp. Does that Act as a positive or a detterent to my application. In future i look to pursue Entrepreneurship after relevant Exp. Also please access my quality of Work Ex (is it base only on the stature of the Organisation or the resposibilty of the individual too?)
3. RECOMMONDATIONS - Can i forward my than 2 evaluators, since they are very imp to give a 360 evaluation of my dimension. (others through will be through offline mode)
4. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES - I have a wide basket of ECAs & look forward to intimate the same to the ADcom, online system has only option of 3.
5. REALITY OF DIVERSITY - Apart from Pros like CAs/Docs/Enggs/ITs etc, please intimate the percentage of unconventional professionals with diverse ECAs & active public presence, to DIVERSIFY the batch.
Eg- Viren in Co2008
This will give us a realistic view of the odd ones out.
thanks & regards
Dear Dr. Menon,
I am still waiting for answer to my query on page 51.
Thanks
Asish,
1) No, not at all.
2) We look at an applicants work exp in commensuration with the number of years he/she has worked. This helps in gauging their maturity level, leadership capabilities and career goals.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your prompt reply.

Dear Mr. Menon/ Ad Com Team,
I appreciate the fact that you have limited time on your hands and are helping us a lot ny answering our queries.
Please do take the time out to explain me the advantages a one year MBA at ISB holds over a 2 year MBA keeping in mind the factors i have mentioned above.
Thank you very much in advance.

I am glad that ISB admissions team is helping us with our queries. Here are my queries
1) Is there any benefit of submitting the application well before the deadline ? Are the applications read in the order in which they are received ?
2) I added two evaluators in the ISB aplication system after their assurance of prompt submission. However, one evaluator is not very responsive and now I am skeptical whether I will get a good recommendation on time. ISB application system does not have option to delete an evealuator and add a new one. As a backup, I would like change my evaluator if needed. What is the process for changing an evaluator ? How long it takes ?
3) I did a summer internship in my pre-final year in college. It was an unpaid internship. I tried to list that experience in the work experience section. But the system is not allowing me to save the details with the salary as Zero. What can I do ?
I am not getting any replies to my emails to PGP Admissions. Expecting your comments on the above queries.
Thanks,
Vivek.

As u know this is 4 n half yr course followed by 1yr of internship in govt hospital.it is full time and we are paid a stipend for it.so would this be considered in my work experience?
I also have 6 months experience as junior resident in anesthesia(clinical) and 2 months in biochemistry(non-clinical) in central govt hospital.
So I would like to know if I am eligible with this work ex (so far as im planning to continue with my job till my admissions)to apply for ISB.

Dear Sir
I would like to thank you for this wonderful initiative.
I have come across different stats (60-75%) of IT admits per batch at ISB. Is the application pool of IT applicants is substantially higher than non IT applicants or is the quality of application from IT students is better than non IT counterparts?
Thanks
Deepak
Dear Sir,
In the application it is mentioned that the Undergraduate percentage should be the one which is specified by the university in awarding the degree. in my case the university considers third year and final year marks for the degree and the same is mentioned in the transcripts as well. Please clarify on this.
thanks
