I have scanned the photo at 375X450 pixel, with horizantal and vertical dpi of 300 each. the picture also seems perfect, without any skewing or distortion. but the moment i upload it, the space in the application form where the picture appears, in that frame, my phot is getting distorted/skewed/flattened vertically. what should i do? should i send a copy of the scanned photo to
[email protected]? pls help. i am already running out of time as i am planning to apply in R1.

Thanking you,

Hi

I have heard that people who apply in the first round have some genuine advantage over others.

IS it true???

Catstyle,

Please go through the thread, your query has already been answered.

Resp. Sir,

I have two queries :

1) Does ISB consider the difference between the marks / GPAs awarded by different university and State boards / CBSE ? as it might be easier to score 75% in from one univ. while it might be really tough to cross 70% barrier in another univ. Should I mention what were the top % in my class , if so, what would be the ideal place to mention that.

2) Is it required to obtain 'transcripts' per se from the universities, or the original marksheets and degree certificates should suffice ? As I am working in US and it might not be possible for me to obtain the transcripts at the time of application / interview.

Regards,
Only_ISB

1) Yes. You can put this in the Optional essay.
2) Yes, transcripts are mandatory. In your case, if you are unable to submit the transcripts before the interview then you have to do so once the admission offer is made to you. You will have to bring your original mark sheets and certificates at the time of the interview.

Hi,
I have a work ex of 9 years. I did not apply earlier because of financial constraints. I had to support my parents. (my father did a pvt job and was retired). My wife is a housewife. Now I am just in a situation that my family can manage without me earning for an year (i.e. during my MBA).

What income proof do I need to produce for financial aid. My father left the job long before.

Kobtain,

We will need your fathers pension certificate if he is getting any. If not, then a certificate from the company saying that he has been relieved from his duties. We do not require any documents in case of your wife since she is a homemaker.

Hello AdCom,

I have a question regarding the optional essay. Does a candidate in any way have a disadvantage during admission if he attempts the optional 4th essay. Is explaining a low GMAT score a good idea for an optional essay or does the adcom prefer an applicant to manage in 3 madatory essays.

Please adivse.

Regards,
trex08

Trex,

No, there is no such disadvantage. It is entirely your decision what you write in the essays but please keep in mind that the information you provide is not repetitive.

Dear Mr.Menon

My query: A quick look at the recruiters list on the ISB website makes me conclude that the non-profit sector doesn't have much of a representation at ISB. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Also in one of your previous posts you mentioned that its up to the students to connect with the recruiters. Does this mean so far students have not expressed interest towards the organisations in non-profit sector (assuming my conclusion above is true)?

Thank you in anticipation.

Mbaonmymind,

We have already mentioned in the thread that only a handful of students have shown interest for the non-profit sector in the past. Those who did so have been placed successfully.

Sumedha,

You can verify the size of the picture by opening the jpeg in MS Paint, and then click on Attributes. If the dialog box mentions the size as 375X450 pixel, then you need not worry. Just upload the picture.

Thanks for patiently resolving the queries of the applicants!

I have just submitted my application today and everything went fine!

In the application, a latest salary slip had to be uploaded. But, my pay package got revised w.e.f 1st September, 2008. So I have uploaded scanned copy of my Promotion letter mentioning my REVISED LATEST ANNUAL PAY. Its not a salary slip though and I will have the access to the latest Salary Slip end of Septemeber only.

Please let me know if that is fine. Or please advice in case of any discrepency.

Mr. Menon,
I have two questions in respect of the application form.

1. In the education details, one field asks us to enter % scored in bachelors course. Do I enter the marks scored in the third year or an average of first year, second year and third year? The marksheets and transcripts for the third year do not contain average % of all three years.

2. I completed 3 years of CA articleship of which 2 years was after graduation. I will have 2 years of work experience post qualifying as a CA by April 2009. In the employment section, I have entered the details of my articleship and my post qualification job. This section also asks us to enter the total no. years of experience. What do I enter as the work experience here?
a. 5 years (3 years articleship + 2 years post qualifying workex)
b. 4 years (2 years articleship post completing b.com + 2 years post qualifying workex)
c. 2 years (only the post qualifying workex)
Thanks a lot.

Fromabctoisb,

1) Please enter the average of all subjects for all the years.
2) Please do not mention article ship as experience.

Dear Admissions@ISB,

I have been managing 3 different businesses full-time over various periods:
1) Family Business: apr 2004 till date (or apr 2009)
2) A Franchise: may 2007 to apr 2008
3) A Partnership Firm: feb 2005 to feb 2008

As you can see, the dates for work overlap for them, which does not enable me to enter them in the application.

I have mentioned I am self employed, and working in more than one organisation simultaneously.

Yet, after entering the dates for the family business, I get the following error while entering dates for the other business:
For second business:
Work Experience dates between 5/1/2007 and 4/1/2008 already exists
(similar message for the 3rd business)

Please help regarding this issue.

--------------------------------
Secondly, since these are all businesses, I do not receive a 'salary'.

In the family business, besides working as a team now wherein I am subordinate to my father, the lines are blurred further, since I have run the business on his behalf when he was seriously ill for more than a year. Therefore, it has never been quantified in terms of a salary.
So what should I enter in the salary field, since it is required? Annual sales, or profits, or something else?

In the other businesses, it is clear that there is no salary.
So, do I again mention the annual sales, or profits for these businesses?

Any guidance regarding this would also be helpful.

Yours sincerely,
S.Pinge

SPinge,

1) Please enter the other businesses in the Optional Essay 4
2) Please provide your latest IT Return statement.

Thanks..
I have one more question. In the same company I have played different roles one dealing with IT work and other as Domain Consultant. With Different Designations. Should I add them as different expierence details in the employment section or just one entry is enough for my tenure in the same company?

Thanks a lot sir. Actually my father had his private practice (lawyer). Now he no longer practises. So from whom do I need to submit the income proof.

Sir,

I had uploaded my passport copy some time back and i just wanted to make sure if it is in 150dpi however i'm not sure how to check that and how to rectify this in case its not as per the requirement.

Regards,
Ankit

I understand that sir and thats why i had apologised before asking the query.
the problem is that it becomes a pain to check through 78 pages of this thread for my specific query
With no disrespect whatsoever, I would have appreciated it if you would have answered it..

anyways that wont be required now since i would prefer to call up on the contact nos. instead of chking through the previous pages.

I apologise again for asking an already-answered query

Akhil,

Please post your queries only if it has not been answered earlier in the thread. Both your queries have already been replied to in the thread.

Hi,

At present I am working in India. But I would be traveling to USA in the 1st week of October. As such, what should I enter as Interview Location?
Kolkata (my current residence) or the location in USA to which I would be traveling (i.e. International)?

Similarly, can the contact numbers (cell number, etc) be changed after submission of the application? The new mailing address and contact numbers would be available to me from October.

I would really appreciate a quick reply so that I can submit my application in Round1.

Regards,
Applicant

Dear Admission@ISB & Pagalguy Admin,

A suggestion if you will.

Giving spotlight to the ISB Admission FAQ Page on the first post will be helpful to newcomers. Most of the general repetitive issues can be addressed by following this link on the first post itself.

For people who repeat any questions covered in the FAQ, you can refer them to the relevant question no. on that FAQ page. More FAQs built up in the last 80 pages or so can be updated on the Admissions FAQ Page.

It's easier reference for students, will reduce repetition of questions, giving you more time to answer more specific/relevant questions (or save your time), and make this thread more qualitative. I think it would be a more efficient and streamlined system.

If this is not the right place for putting in my suggestion, I humbly apologize, and request the Pagalguy Admin to move it to the right section.

Yours sincerely,
S.Pinge

S.Pinge,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. We will definitely try and make it happen.

Dear Admissions@ISB,

Thank you for the help.

I have a follow-up query though.

Since I will only be including one business (the family business) in the employment details, do I enter my annual income for the annual salary? It will be indicative, and it will also be reflected in my IT Return statement.

Yours sincerely,
S.Pinge

S.Pinge,

Yes, please write your annual income.

Hi,

My company has just changed my location from one centre to another.
I get a different salary slip for the new centre. It has joining details corresponding to the new centre and not for the organisation as a whole.

What should I do? Should I upload 2 salary slips-one from the previous centre and one from the new one?

Thanks
SG
