Ivey Mba

HI all
i've been following this thread for quite sometime now..
even i am highly interested in pursuing mba from canada.
i've been researching through the profiles of b-schools in canada since past 4-5 months...
In ur discussions nowhere did i find the name of University Of Alberta. ....
is it so bad that no one even gives a thought to it while applying to the b-schools of canada?????????????

in one of the posts on this thread someone mentioned that reputation of most of the b-schools of canada is more or less the same!!!!!!! it is only the internship during mba prog that matters....................is this true???????

Tdadic Bro,

Am not advising anyone else to apply in R2- I was talking abt myself..

that i would apply in R2- reason is that i wont have my Gmat score befor 5th Oct...

My current GMAT score might fetch me an admit, but its not sure, so to eliminate the doubts am retaking Gmat, and with gods grace should cross the elusive 700.

Early admit is def a plus, but R1 and R2 are generally treated equally in most schools...beyond R2 it get diff..

Hence am applying to R2 is all the schools i plan to apply...

Cheers

Hi Tdadic Bro,

AM not advising anyone to apply to R2, everyone is free to decide for his own..Its just that i would apply in R2....and reason for it is plain and simple, i am yet to take GMAt, and would only be taking it in Mid Oct..

Also its a Myth that R1 is better than R2, its the complete package which matters..

I am confident that my edu, work exp, extra curric are good and if complemented by a decent Gmat score, i should secure an admit...so am not worried whether its R1 or R2...

Any good news on ur front...i mean the holy mail from Ivey?

Cheers

Hey all,

I'll be now applying for R1, however mentioning that I'll be retaking GMAT.
I have written to admission committee about the same.

I had few more queries about the study permit processes and Ivey MBA financial aspects,

* What is the right estimate of the cost of these 12 months at Ivey (including fee and stay) - I have estimated it to be around 95K CAD. Is it right?

* How much of percentage of this expense should be shown as bank balance, FD and assets while applying for study permit? I am in a position to show close to Rs 35Lacs in bank and FDs. Would it suffice?

Someone pls help me out.

Thanks,

friend,
Once you will accept the offer letter from ivey, they will give you one letter which will state the fee + living expenses. You will have to show that much amount + some extra.
Now if i assume $ 95 k is the amount the it is approx 42 lacks. You will have to show this amount in the form of loan or cash, fds. then what ever you can show extra, in case you are in trouble then your family should be in position to support you.
Last year, I had shown them 70L including land, loan, and fds.
They will also ask for 6 months bank statements also.
Others in the forum or current students can also shed some light on this...

Hope this helps

Bobby

I hope not...hehe

can u throw some more light on ur plan...ie, u would apply with ur old score to be considered in R1,but when u would get ur new score u would send it to Ivey..

I hope it works for u,though i have my own doubts..since its rolling admission which ivey follows,am sure they would wait for ur final gmat score before considering ur file as complete

Its a good move...

I had thought so of doing the same but did not want to put time in essay writing..etc etc...and in the end screwing Gmat retake..

Would still have 10 days after my Gmat to submit my app in R2...

first thing first need a good gmat score

Thanks,

35 lacs in Banks and FD is a very decent amount...but it still does show that u would be able to cover the entire cost which is close to 45 lacs..

so incase you own a house or ur dad does then show that..

also if someone who has enough money in his account can vouch to be a guaranteer it should suffice..

Other thing is transferring money in ur account from your guaranteers account..but then its cumbersome and sometime IT dept may take it otherwise

Hope it helps

Cheers

Hi tdadic84

any news? I think they are keeping it suspense till the last day........

Hi tdadic84

any news? I think they are keeping it suspense till the last day........

It seems that way....I am fine with waiting till then since I have already waited this long...I just hope its good news.

I will also be out of the country from Oct 2 to 5th, so if they do it via email, I will not have access to it until the 6th. I also do not think I will have my phone with me or on all all times during my trip, so I hope I hear something before or on Friday.

Actually, if it's good news, I hope to hear on Friday, if not, I hope I do not hear till I get back so my trip is not ruined...hhehe..kidding!!:w00t:

I feel confident and so should everyone else!!!!

hehe..at least we know they did not forget about us.. :w00t:

What is taking them so long to decide?? it been a month now since they took interview..

Hey Bobby,

I know it is tough and I am in the same boat as you as well as other people. We waited one month, 3 mores days will not hurt...

I strongly believe they are waiting for some application to arrive this sat/sun since round 1 deadline is mon oct 5th and they will then be getting in contact with us on Sunday (but maybe before).

Look at the bright side, you did not get a ding yet like some people, which means they are still considering your application because most b-schools let know know when you get a ding ASAP so they dont keep you waiting.

So just hold off on emailing them and it will all work out for us!!!
