Ivey Mba

thanks tdadic84. I will have to attend a gmatprep course. I'll sign up for the veritas gmat prep, which seems to be really good in toronto. I hope that can help bumb up my score.

did you know anyone who reapplied to ivey and got accepted? how do you know that reapplicants are in a better situation? i'm just curious to know.

thanks man

MBABlackBelt,
Here is a link regarding re-applicants.
Admissions Myths Destroyed: Reapplicants Should Not Apply

Thanks a lot everyone. I really appreciate your support!! For now, I will consider signing up for Veritas GMAT Prep. I heard that they're really good in their GMAT prep. I will attend the one they have in Toronto. It lasts for 7 weeks, and then will sit for the exam again and hope that can make the difference.

Then I can focus on crafting a good strategy for Ivey for the 2011 intake.

Once again, thanks alot guys for your great encouragement!!

good luck to you all

Hey Guys,

I had my interview yesterday in Delhi. It was cool. The common interview questions like why mba and why Ivey.I really liked the Interviewer:jenni denniston. She is so cool and approachable.I think I told her many things i intended to hide.:)

Yeah I had my interview in the morning slot
Same thing happened with me, she made me say out things
I did not want to tell.
I hope it does not go against me :)
the whole inteview had standard set of questions
Cant make out whether i will be selected or not
What about you
I heard Ivey interviews a lot of people and are very selective in their admission process when it comes to interview

Anyways I saw your profile dude
You working in hyderabad and came for interview specially to delhi?

hey..what was your slot?10-11 am?
yes..i came to delhi for interview specially :)
What was jenni's responses like?
btw,you applied in R1 or R2?

I was the first to be interviewed
I was slotted for 9 a. m. but i think my interview started lil early
around 8:50 and ended after around 35-40 minutes
And I applied in R2 that is for Nov 2 deadline
Her responses were very encouraging and i Liked the way she conducted the interview
It was more of like a chit-chat session than an interview
I think your interview was arnd 11 but you must have been interviewed before that time

Hey Sillyfool. Glad to hear your interview went so well. Thats awesome. BTW which other colleges are you applying to ?

It went well but i am waiting that I get an admit only after that I can say that :)

Apart from Ivey, I have applied to NUS (already interviewed), Queens(already interviewed) Duke and LBS (DING without interviews)
ISB (reject after interview)

I might apply to 2-3 other colleges in R2 as I really wanna do MBA this year only

But from all the colleges above mentioned IVEY is the college where i want to go which seems like a good option to me right now

I will be more than happy if I get an admit from Ivey

Cheers

What about Oxford, INSEAD and JBS ? are you applying there and York (Schulich) ? I guess it makes sense since you're in the flow.

I think Oxford, INSEAD and JBS looks for a lot of exp
I only have 4 by fall 2010, and i think it was madness on may part applying to LBS. :)

Anyways I learnt my lesson and i am applying to colleges from where I can atleast manage an interview call :)
and Schulich i think is in a great location that is Toronto
But the school is far below the reputation of IVEY and QUEENS and i am not keen of applying there
I am waiting for the results from there 3 colleges where i got interviewed
If I am not able to get admit anywhere then probably I will apply to Schulich etc

Hi everyone,

I am new to this thread.Even I got over with my interview from Richard ivey on 27th Nov , so I was hoping to build some network here.

Just a recap..... it was a friendly discussion , lasted for around 30 mins .. all regular mba Qs as to Why Mba , Why Ivey , short term and long term goals etc....

My profile : 4+ years in IT , decent acads , ok ECs....

Thanks.

27th Nov???? you mean u had a telephonic interview?
Who took your interview? and when did they tell will give you the results?

Hi SillyFool,

Nope. It was face-to-face. Jennni denniston took it. it was in Taj Mahal hotel.
Any idea how optimistic should we be...as in the ones who got an interview call?

Well i did not know that they took interviews on 27th too,
I was thinking that they took interviews on Saturday only
Anyways see I have heard that lot of people get interview calls
around 80% and considering that we are in R2 now and that Ivey has a very small size
It can be lil tuff
I dont wanna discourage you bit i would suggest you to look for other options parallelly.
I have almost the same profile as you have and there are many others like us
The only advantage you have that you belong from the fairer sex 😃

Lol... i know. And I applied in R1. I guess the results will be out on 6th. Thats what she said. Just keeping my fingers crossed.
I have applied to SDA Boconi as well. I got a reject ISB after getting an interview call from them. So thats all I have for now.
Which all schools have you applied to and what's your GMAT score?
Mine is 740.

wow thats a great score!!
I have 730 and please refer to last page I have already answered the question regarding the schools that i have applied.
With that score and exp and off course the gender advantage I think that you
will surely get a good news from Ivey. Best of Luck to you and me too

Thanks ..and ATB to you too :)..

Any idea how SDA Bocconi is like?

Any idea how SDA Bocconi is like?

As far as I have heard its for ppl who wanna go into startegy/consulting
BuT i have chosen schools based on locations etc and other factors
In SDA Bocconi, i think i might find it tuff getting a job later on
due to local language problems. Its just my opinion as generally i think
If you are doing MBA from IE spain you need to know spanish to get a job in that market
and I think same is the case with SDA.
thats why i have applied to colleges where English is the primary language as well as the local language.

Hope this helps

Hmm okay.. this is something I already know. I was asking interms of its reputation. And If I want to come back to India after doing an MBA from there.... will it be easy for me to find a job here.

Another thing ..how are you planning to finance your mba?

If you are planning to come back to India
You might wanna consider NUS and NTU
low cost and you can come back to India easily.
and as far as financing is concerned I am looking for colleges
in the range 40-50 lakhs
20 lakhs from banks I have saved a little as I was on some intl trips for arnd 9 monthts
rest ek baar fir se ghar walon ke aage apni jholi faila doonga :)
and Please lets not discuss things that are not relevant to this thread
If you have any other doubt Please Pm me or post it in relevant thread
Either me or someone else will surely reply
