Another doubt :-)
I did my engineering from NIT Jalandhar. And have work ex in a reputed SW company.
Is TOEFL required for Ivey?
As per their requirements:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"English Equivalency (TOEFL)
Applicants to the Ivey MBA must demonstrate the capacity to learn and communicate in the English language. An applicant can demonstrate their English language capacity through one of the following:
A post secondary education or significant work experience in an English language environment
Proficiency in English demonstrated in interviews and written interaction
A score of 600/250/100 or more on the TOEFL test
Candidates whose native language is not English and who have not received a university degree in an English-speaking country may be required to take the TOEFL (or IELTS or MELAB).
If English is not your first language, please identify within your MBA application how frequently you have used English in your employment, as well as during travel within English-speaking countries."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As per my understanding, TOEFL is not required for me. Just want to make sure that I dont have to write yet another exam :-)
Also what abt TOEFL requirement in Queens. Anyway, I will post that in Queens thread :-)
Please comment.

I wrote a justification to Ivey stating why they should consider waiving my TOEFL requirement. I think the application form provides an option to send this across. I would suggest you to write to them, if possible.

Good luck on your final results satya!
Hi idream,
While am unable to comment on the actual expenses yet, heres a BLOATED estimate of how it could be. This is the worst possible case and I would argue that these numbers will come down drastically. Ive heard from current students that a $100,000 should be more than sufficient, if you are single. And an additional $5000, if you are married.
Anyway, here it goes.
Tuition for international students=75000 ($72000 last year. I don't have the tuition fee information for 2009, yet)
Ancillary Fees=500
MBAA Student Fee=900
UHIP(Health insurance)=700
Casebooks and Supplies=5000
MBA Clubs=200
Note Book Computer=1500(You can also get decent notebooks for $1000)
Monthly Rent=800/month*13=10400
Utilities=80/month*13=1040
Food=500/month*13=6500
Entertainment=150/month*13=1950
Clothing=125/month*13=1625
Telephone=100/month*13=1300
Bus Pass=100/month*13=1300
Miscellaneous=100/month*13=1300
Laundry=50/month*13=650
Home Internet/Mobile phone=70/month*13=910
International Study Trip=3000
Air Fare=2000
Contingency Funds=2000
Dress Materials=475
Business Attire=475
Mobile Phone=150
Total = $118875
*I've assumed length of program as 13 months (*including pre MBA, Orientation, settling time, etc)
*All the numbers mentioned above are in $CAD
I did speak to Paras foundation and they said, its possible to arrange 65 lakh INR if I could manage a US cosigner. But I dont have any further details on them.
Guys this is an fyi:
I'd just received a confirmation from Ivey that the tuition fees for international students for the May 2009 class would be CAD $72000.

Sure Why not?
PMed you my mobile number.
guys,
As demandez mentioned, I do have an admit from Ivey for Spring 2009 (it was originally for Fall 2008, but I postposed it for personal reasons)
feel free to ask me any questions you might have about the interviews/ timeline for decision post-interivew-
I have posted by feedback on accepted.com and also on the other Ivey thread at PG. Other than that, i will be more than happy to answer any other questions.
I did visit the campus in February this year, so I might be able to answer some questions on that front also!
Good Luck all,
Hello Civ_ad,
Great to find you here... You will surely add value to the discussions here..
First query to you from my side is on the decision period ivey takes normally to give any confirmation,..
Secondly, please share your experience of IVEy ? are you based in CANADA ? how are the faculty members and the general crowd ? are they as proactive as they show duringtheir admission process ? How is the study environment and the load on students ?
then How is London as a city ?
Keep posting

Good Luck all,
In my case, I got the decision (adm. offer) within 2 weeks' time following my second interview.
I am currently based in Pune (I was in chicago when I had applied). I visited on Feb. 14th- possibly on the coldest day of the year. Even the customs officials were surprised as to why would anybody go to London, ON in that kind of weather :-)
The Ivey visit day is very well organized. The day starts with coffee and biscuits, and then introduction by the admissions committee/faculty/ career services people. The student ambassadors answer your queries during lunch; and the interaction with the students is a fun aactivity (NO faculty/ ad. comm. members are allowed during this session!) The faculty is great. I sat in a class by Prof. Dawar. There was an amazing class participation by students. The class had a HBS case study on Citibank- and people were competing with each other left and right for facetime.
London is a small, fun city. It is mainly a campus town. I met up with three students who were joining the program in Spring 2008: several beers later, we decided that London is perfect for after hours partying also!
The ad. comm. are very helpful throughout the admission process- you would be surprised at the number of emails you would get...And they do take time to answer your queries.
I have been keeping in touch with the Fall and Spring cohorts for 2009- the workload is heavy but manageable....
One note of caution: like most other schools, placements for the class that graduated in Aug. this yr were mild. Only abt half the class has job offers....
"...this yr were mild. Only abt half the class has job offers...."
I think one of the biggest differentiating factor of Ivey is their Career Services (Relationship Managers, Admission time Interview by Career Services ppl, Partner Programs with Alumni etc etc).
I know that placements and job hunting depend much more on personal factors (personality, ability etc etc) but having strong career services such as Ivey's do help.
Is it because of the global recession ? What can be the other possible reasons?
hey guys,
I wanted to share with you that I got an admit from Queen's Univ. If someone's looking for any info, would be glad to help.

Hello Doosrakeval
Congrats!! for getting admission at Queens.
I think Queens University takes only one interview.
So where you are planning to go for MBA, Queens or Ivey.
Have you applied for any other college?
bobby
Guys,
I believe, i am walking on fire ! :2gunfire:
Still i have not got the call from the career management team. i had sent a mail and got the response from Niki that "career management typically does interview candidates, but they do not always make this request"... ! Need to wait for few more weeks

.. Has any one got the results ?
pushing hard
Hi puys,
Can anyone who has gone through the interview process give some idea what sort of questions are asked in it? I have one scheduled in October.
Thanks.
