Ivey Mba

Hey guys, thx for posting and making this thread a healthy one. I recently went to an MBA fair in Lima and had the chance to attend Iveys First Class on the Road, a real-life class simulation with Dr. Tony Frost. It was a phenomenal experience in terms of class structure, contents and dynamics. Even when my temporal classmates where all Peruvian we had the chance to engage in interesting debates about the Mexican Peso crisis of 1994. I can imagine how stimulating debates would be with classmates from all over the world. On top of this, Mrs. Jenni Denniston, Ivey's MBA Recruitment Manager, was always there to kindly solve our queries.

My conclusion is that Ivey will provide you with an excellent business education. The school is a global top 10 player for careers in mgmt consulting and now I better understand why. No mistake if you choose Ivey, I will definitely submit my application in Round 3. Best regards

Peruvian Guru

PS. Special thx to Demandez and Civ-ad for their insightful and informative comments.

hey guys,

I wanted to share with you that I got an admit from Queen's Univ. If someone's looking for any info, would be glad to help.

doosrakeval

Hi DoosraKeval,
Can you share your profile? I am currently applying to Ivey and will apply to Queens later in Oct. What are they looking at Queens?

- Jainesh

Hi Jainesh:

Indian/Male/IT/8+years of WE/7+ years of Int'l exp/710 GMAT

I believe at Queens they look for people who know why they are applying to Queens, what team work means, what to expect out of team based prog. Prospective student should have a GMAt score of 600+ .

I'll suggest that don't look at mine and other people's profile...focus on yourself and see what's special about you. I'm sure there's lot and you should highlight that in your app.

Dear All,

I have received a call from Ivey today.

They confirmed me an admit...

Is there anyone else here who has got any new from them,,,,

i am yet to receive the official mail..

Thank you everyone for their support.............specially demandez....for your timely help...looking forward to meet you soon

Hey Guys,
Am back after a long vacation to my hometown. Good to find that theres been a lot of activity in the thread.
Hearty Congratulations on your Ivey admit Satya. Looking forward to working with you at Ivey.Hard luck to those who couldnt make it, despite having awesome profiles. Nonetheless, there must be something better awaiting you guys.
Congrats on your Queens admit, doosrakeval. Do keep us posted on your progress and offer decisions.
Deep, skim through this and the previous threads. Theres a lot of information on interviews. Do check the accepted.com interviews --> University of Western Ontario for additional information.
Thanks to Trotamundo for sharing your experience in FCOTR. All the best to you for your round3 target.

Bobby, I wouldnt recommend you worrying about the GMAT scores and profiles of those admitted/dinged. Ultimately it comes down to the fact whether the person is of "the best fit" kind. In fact, this is true for any good school. So stay positive and give your best shot at interviews. Good luck.
Congrats Satya!!

Hey Bobby,

I guess whats puzzling you is "He had 710 GMAT,admit from Queens, why he got dinged by Ivey? What will happen to me?"

My friend, Last year, i had sub 700 GMAT and I was wait-listed at Ivy League Uni. B-School in US. GMAT score and whether I was admitted at some B-school doesn't makes any difference. Its a package deal, your profile+app+interview+your reason to join etc.. all have to match with what the school is expecting.

Worry not, I'm sure you'll make it to Ivey. For me, I believe in "whatever happens, it happens for a good reason."

Good Luck with your application.

Satya, Good to understand that you have accepted the offer. Congratulations and welcome :)

Currently, I've been working on arranging for my loans. I do not have updated info on the visa rudiments yet. Anyway, you may want to refer to these important weblinks.

Visa related FAQs:FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Non Visa related FAQs:Non Visa Questions************************************* Go to Visa Related Questions
Here's an excerpt, relating to your question:How much funds do I have to show the visa officer to get the visa ?
You need to demonstrate that you have enough funds to cover your education and living expenses. It is important that you have enough liquid funds (Savings/FDs/PF/Loan) to be able to cover your expenses in the first year. The second year expenses can be shown in form of real estate, which you need to dispose of in future (You will need to provide an affidavit from the person who owns the property and the copy of property documents). The general impression is that the more liquid funds you can show, the better it is. While showing the funds in Savings account or FDs, you need to be prepared to answer the questions about the source of those funds. Also you need to carry the originals of all the documents (Imp: Do not submit any originals, but carry them with you for the visa interview)

Civ_AD, Please add if you have some info on this.

Arul, Good luck to you on your applications.

Hello All,

Congrats to all (demandez, satya and others) for recieving the final admoits to Ivey 2009.
I am a prospective applicant and had submitted my application to Ivey a month back. I have recieved a call for interview.

Surprisingly, my first interview is with the Career management committee member (I reasd somewhere that the 1st interview is uaully with a adcom member).
In case anyone can post the interview experience or can shed some light as to how I can prepare for the interview it would be really great. My interview is scheduled day after tommorrow over the phone.

BTW, any idea how many people who are interviewed make it to the program..??
