Congrats to all (demandez, satya and others) for recieving the final admoits to Ivey 2009. I am a prospective applicant and had submitted my application to Ivey a month back. I have recieved a call for interview.
Surprisingly, my first interview is with the Career management committee member (I reasd somewhere that the 1st interview is uaully with a adcom member). In case anyone can post the interview experience or can shed some light as to how I can prepare for the interview it would be really great. My interview is scheduled day after tommorrow over the phone.
BTW, any idea how many people who are interviewed make it to the program..??
Regards, Anubhav
Hello Anubhav
All the best for your interview!!!
My second interview is on 9th Oct...
My first interview was with adcom member. It was a general interview with questions such as why you want to do MBA from Ivey? why Canada? some questions regarding my profile...
Would you like to share your profile and your interview experience

Congratulations on your interview call Anubav. Its not unusual to get a call from the career management team first. Nothing to worry about this. The theme of the CM interview would be to identify whether the candidate is placeable post-MBA. Research thoroughly on what you stated as career goals in essays and ensure consistency. Do make sure to connect your past/current experiences and post-MBA goals (immediate/long term), using Ivey specific experiences as bridges building the gaps. Ive not much idea about the number of candidates selected from those interviewed. But I do understand that good Bschools dont have defined percentages to select/reject candidates after interview rounds. Simply, if one could prove to the school that he is of the best fit kind and "diverse", he should survive.
Hi All... Just 2 small queries... Has any of the admits been offered some Financial Aid ? And how are u planning your finances? Coz I just saw from the ivey website that they have increases the fee to CAD 74000!

Arul, I understand that approximately 50% of the class gets some sort of aid(averaging around CAD$10,000). I don't have a waiver/scholarship aid until now. I'm planning to take a Rs.20 Lakh loan from India(this is the maximum amount) and have my Parents sponsor me for the rest.
A note of caution: It's nearly impossible for an international student to obtain a loan from Canada, unless he holds a permanent residentship status. Ivey recommends international students to arange for the required funds, from their own countries.
How much amount are you showing on your account except the loan amount? DO you have any idea of how much more should some one show if he is accompanied by a partner ?
Can you tell me whether the Costs shown by ivey in their offer letter includes the cost of academic study tours or project related out of country visits ? Otherwise we will also have to make the provisions for the travel costs to be incurred during study ?
The activity in the forum has dropped now.. it seems the interviews for the first round are over now.. hope 2 see some more poeple in the final ivey group... meanwhile, do you know any current ivey student who can just supplement his views here in this forum.. i think that would be really great for us//

Jainesh: it really depends. I submitted my application on the last day of R1 and got a call within 7 days, however, my interview took around more than a month to be scheduled. So there is no fixed time for getting calls. Guess they are just concluding the R1 applicants right now after which they would shrotlist R2.
Guys, I had my first interview with Career Services manager, Karen Conway yesterday. This was my second scheduled date since on the first occassion, the telephone networks, kept the connection from getting through. Yesterday too, the same thing happened even though I had given a different number this time. Eventually, I had to call the office on my own just to ensure that the inetrview takes place this time. The interview lasted around 30 minutes and went good.
She was very friendly and asked me questions about my goals, preferred area of work post MBA. Then there was a lengthy discusion about my career progression till date and focussed on how I could trafer skills from my prior experience into my proposed career. There wer 1-2 situation specific questions as well.
Overall it was good. She said they would get back to me for the admission round. Let's wait and watch and ofcorse pray.
Is there a difference in the number of students admitted in May and September?
If I submit my application before next deadline (i.e. Nov6), will I be considered for May intake?
I am starting to pen down Ivey essays. I am unable to understand the motive of the third essay (field reporter). What is expected and what is it that the adcom wants to know about me through this essay? (people who got an Ivey admit, please help me on this one)

Hi Satya, Whilst am unable to comment on the proof of funds requirement yet, I do understand that one has to show an additional $12000(per person), to be able to cover the cost of living expenses, travel etc. I would probably start researching on the VISA more actively, as soon as I get my loan sanctioned (most banks recommended loan applicants to submit their papers no earlier than 4 months before the programme commences). http://www.ivey.uwo.ca/MBA/finances/expenses.htm does not include the cost of optional trips (study trips, career networking trips, etc). For example, the China Study Trip would need an additional CAD 3000.
I could not find a current Ivey student in PG, yet. Perhaps, Ivey facebook page is the right forum we could post in additional quesitons. There has been a lot of activity out there.
Is there a difference in the number of students admitted in May and September? Not exactly! Last year, they were just over and about 70 in number, for both the intakes.
If I submit my application before next deadline (i.e. Nov6), will I be considered for May intake? Yes. You are free to apply for the May intake in all the application rounds (with the exception of last round)

What is expected and what is it that the adcom wants to know about me through this essay? (people who got an Ivey admit, please help me on this one) Of the three admits available in this forum, two of us had applied last year and we had entirely different set of questions. Satya, please add if you had a point here. I would recommend you to post this query on the Ivey admissions facebook page or email the admissions committee and get it clarified.
Hey Thanks Arun for your inputs.. i have applied in Bank of Baroda for my educational loans.. are you sure most banks recommend loan papers to be submitted only 4 months b4 the programme commences ? That would be a bit late for the visas to process..I remember your post in which you mentioned a detail cost break up. I am taking that as reference. I feel 100,000 CAD$ is enough for one person..CAD is getting weaker these days. it has touched almost Rs.41 now..!!!
I have not yet deposited the initial deposits till now although i have accepted the offer online.. coz i have not yet received the official package.. It's been 3 weeks now.. Does it take so much time..Ivey people are asking me 2 wait for some more time..deadline 4 submission is 31st.. How did you send the money to them.. is it by a DD in favour of the University//
Finally I am lucky to find some current students and Alumni from Facebook, Orkut,etc...Will update everyone here on the infos i got...My decision to choose ivey is further validated by their inputs...
I find this iveyMBA student blog link quite interesting...i am giving the link here for those who have not seen it... Ivey MBA Student Blog
Arun, are you upadated on the the pre ivey Internship opportunity ? some discussions were going on in face book..do let us know if you have any info on this...

I did inquire with the Bank of Baroda and I found the interest rates to be fairly expensive than their counterparts (Corporation and Syndicate banks offer at better rates). If you havent completed loan application process, please inquire with these banks.
I totally agree with your claim that CAD$ 100,000 should be sufficient to cover up all expenses for one person. You might need an additional $10000 if you are planning to take your spouse.
Ive no new updates on the pre Ivey internship, yet. I see that there has been some discussion about this on the face book page. Anyway, no official confirmation yet.
With just 3 more days for your tuition deposit deadline, am sure you must already have sent the money (If you'd accepted the offer). Sorry about my delayed reply. To the benefit of others, Tuition Fees for Universities abroad can be remitted as Demand Drafts in the required foreign currency. I got this provisioned by HDFC bank and they charged me Rs.200. Later Id Fedexed the DD to Ivey.
So did you decide on the offer yet?
