yes to one decimal point only..mentioned in cat registration guide i guess..

For WBUT it's (DGPA-0.75)*10

First of all I would like to clarify that there is no need to subtract 0.75 from your DGPA if you are a WBUT student because officially it hasn't been mentioned anywhere unlike JU where it has been explicitly mentioned...
And consider the sum total of all subjects that are mentioned in your result of SSC as well as HSC in order to calculate the percentage irrespective of what is printed on your marksheet...In my case also the percentage has decreased by 3.4% but I guess it's better to avoid any kind of mistake atleast in the initial stages of our battle.......

What has been explicitly mentioned for JU??? can u tell in detail?

If I am not wrong JU has some definite percentage conversion criteria....As I am not a JU student I can't exactly tell you by how much percent/point DGPA is reduced..but many of my JU friends did convert their DGPA into percentages(which was less than DGPA*10)...senior JU students can throw some light regarding this matter......

What i know as a JU student, we have to give our DGPA*10 only if we are final year students like I'm but if u r a passout then you have to give the percentage that is written in your final Grade Cards....That is what known to me....Am i going wrong somewhere?
@[323676:nishant_88]---plz throw some UV Light......

As an ex-student of JU, let me take the liberty of answering your query

There is no standard deduction done from our CGPA's to get percentages. As all of you will agree, SGPA isn't really the true indicator of your marks . Percentage is. So in JU, the percentage is calculated just as they should be - the exact marks of all the subjects of all the semesters are considered to calculate the percentage. And it is explicitly mentioned in our degree certificates. So, no ambiguity about it

But what about final year students like us whose Grade cards till now merely contains grades & not percentage! hope you understand what i mean to say. Till now all the grade cards till third year that i have, nowhere percentage is mentioned!

Bang on buddy
In your final year at JU, you are entitled to calculate the linear average of your SGPA's and multiply by 10 to arrive at the percentage.
When you pass out, you don't really have a choice as the percentage's are specifically mentioned in the degree certificates .

BTW, are you from JU?? Your name and Department??

Thanks for the clarification.
Yup, I'm from JU, final year, Chemical Engg.
oo Name- Anirban Kundu.

All I can say regarding those who are studying in JU(final year) currently:

CGPA/percentage- "sob i maya" (you can realize the significance of this idiom only after your 8th semester result comes out)

And if you have a CGPA around 8.5/8.6, BEWARE!!

CAT-'12 is probably your best realistic chance of getting some elusive IIM calls like S/B/A.....

have even worse. 8.32 till now. scoring is very difficult in our dept. (unlike ETC, CSE & Instru) & it gets even more difficult if you realize "you certainly don't belong to this department"
Hi Puys,
I have got 2 years of exp working in Kolkata currently and have given CAT once in '09 scored 89 %ile.
I have just started preparing for CAT'12, can anybody help me with the strategy to follow and throw some light on the learning stuff

PS:I dont have much material for CAT except Arun Sharma books... if anybody has any learning material share it with me..
Thanks in advance
