HI everybody.. even i m confused about the same... MY DGPA is 8.16 but not sure whetherto put 81.6 or 74.1.. Also m frm ICSE background and for my boards results i fill the best of 5 for 10 and best of 4 subjects %.... Want clarifications esp the WBUT one...
@[551977:DeathForce] Dont have to do any such conversions... only IIM shillong requires a DGPA >8.43... And for others u dont have to do any conversions...

Thanks for the info. even last year I gave aggregate for X ,XII (CISCE) but later came to know from most reliable sources that we need to follow best of 5,4 (respectively) rules.
For WBUT I am still clueless, but in B-School forms(almost all B-School I have applied for last year) they ask for Grad. % so in that case what shall I do ? Direct x10 or that -.75 rule.....
(What I did last year)For all the WBUT students: if you have already passed out then you must have your final year certificate, in which the DGPA is mentioned but nothing about the percentage. Last year in every b-school form I wrote that figure(without any -0.75 kinda thing). In case where % is necessary, just did it by *10. Ultimately in the verification process u can show them the FINAL CERTIFICATE contains the dgpa(no %) & in the final semester marksheet the calculation of dgpa.

I am from JU...but I have friends from WBUT who gave their DGPA*10 percentage, and are now into premier IIMs without facing any difficulty regarding the percentage...in case you want to contact, ping BatTheCat...he's now in IIM C...
The only problem arises in the Class 10 and 12, if you take best of some subjects....during my interviews, I encountered numerous students who had the same problem, had given their best of 4/5 marks, and were instructed to rewrite their percentages calculating all subjects...while filling the CAT form, you can write best of whatever your board rules are...but once in the interview(at least IIM A,B,C,L,Sh did this year), they ask you to take all the subjects into consideration....
@talk2sankha said: @S.K.S Actually in West Bengal University there is a hidden rule of calculating Percentage = (DGPA-0.75)*10......so any guys from WBUT or any of your friends have any idea regarding this percentage conversion......some are of the opinion of DGPA*10 and some of (DGPA-0.75)*10.SO @S.K.S are you from WBUT or any of your friend who can help us solving this mystery.
@[267236:tamal220187] hi tamal... i passed out lst year from wbut, (to be specific : govt volg of engg & ceramic tech) my dgpa is 8.2x and in 10/12 : 86/77.xx

There is no rule in ICSE/ISC which says that percentage should be calculated using best 5/best 4......
last year 1 of my friends from the icse/isc board entered marks using best 5/best 4 and now studies in iim k.but this year they have explicitly mentioned in the cat 2012 registration guide that we have to take all subjects mentioned in the marksheet.
if we submit the best of five and best of four for icse n isc now in the cat form due to so much confusion in calculating norms.....does changing the scores later on if called for interviews...adversely affects the later stages of selection?

ok...thanks a lot..will calculate the percentage from aggregate of all subjects only then..to avoid any sort of discrepancy ...if selected

I think that's better lest we have to face the fury of panelist in GDPI...
Even if I go for X XII aggregate it is 80+ but WBUT ..App. Rating go for toss !
same here!...but for wbut..i will put dgpa*10 as percentage only ...in the cat form
