Today we had a guest lecture by Wing Cdr Anupama Monga on the topic INTROPRENEURSHIP. She stressed on the fact that there is no substitute to hard work. Though many would argue that these days Smart Work is a better option but according to her smart work doesn't always provide the required results. To some extent smart work is good thing but it can never replace hard work. Better option would be to adopt a mix of both to succeed in life. Moreover according to her the 2 years in the B-School are the biggest learning experience. She herself joined IIM L after serving the Aitr Force for 15 years & quoted those days as the best in her life.

In the evening we had our Fresher's Party at Hotel Clark Greens. It was just rocking. Transport facility was available from the institute upto the venue. The venue was amazing. DJ was in full swing till 11 p.m. Everyone was enjoying to the fullest. Even the faculty joined in the enjoyment. Prizes of the cultural week, Mr. Fresher & Mrs. fresher were given. Seniors made it a point that everyone had his/her share of enjoyment & also no one was left without having dinner. After the party got over everyone was dropped to their respective destinations safely.
LBSIM Rocks..!!

Admist all the busy schedule and a hectic trimester, HRythm [The HR Club of LBSIM], successfully held its second workshop of the Season today. The agenda of the workshop was High Impact Performance Management in Corporates.

As the famous phrase goes on to state: "One Bad Apple spoils the basket". So, it becomes extremely important for the Human Capital Managers of any organization to have systems which propagate High Performance(s) vide Performers having high impact in various verticals of that particular organization.

We discussed about the Identifying top performers, compensation administration, the right kind of hiring, When to hire and which part of the Bell/Percentile Curve to hire, the characteristics of awesome people, What are the needs and behavioral traits of top performers, On-Boarding practices, Continuous Learning et al.

In and all, a very healthy knowledge sharing session which put me out of the construes of basic myths about the hiring and performance management systems I had. Hats off to our seniors for letting us take the proceedings of the workshops and very smartly chipping in whenever we felt uncomfortable.

Do chip in regularly as many events are in the pipeline including a Quiz Competition and Intra-Institute HR Event.

Thanks and Regards-

From the Journey Day ... till ... Today J

It was almost midnight; I was sitting on the terrace lost in thoughts under the moonlight. My only companion for the night my Guitar lying beside me. It was a Tough week for me as I resigned from my first Company. I loved it there but MBA was my dream and all I knew was that next day i.e. June 14, 2012, “The Journey Started”. I had that sense of excitement as well as fear for the day ahead. Fear because of the Big Q - Would I be able to transition back to the life of a Student from that of a Corporate??? Excitement because its college life once again (Yipeee !!).

Waking up in the morning on time is not my thing but yes that day was different. Perhaps, it was the hot morning effect or I guess Sleep persuaded my eyes that night. Anyways, I got dressed up for the occasion i.e. First day in LBSIM. I boarded the best transport service facility in Delhi i.e. The Delhi Metro for Dwarka Sector 11. I was just in time for the First Inaugural Session to start. As I entered the institute, I could see my Batch-mates all excited with loads of smile on their face in their Best attire walking into the institute. I went into Flashback.

Just almost 3 months back, I was travelling to different institutes in various part of India like Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai etc for my Admission to them as well as perse a Vacation Trip. With such a tremendous level of competition it isn't easy getting into the institute of your choice. The problem becomes more complex when one has to choose among different institute for Final admission. As I entered different Institute the Analysing task started and I believe this is my First Learning on my Journey i.e. Analysing is very important of MBA Graduates.

Quickly I rushed to the Canteen. No empty seats that day. Jam packed full. That's what I like about Canteen, favourite destination of student in the campus no matter what part of the day it is. Quickly, I grabbed a Sandwich. Frankly speaking, I have a very soft Corner for Sandwiches and yes I am a regular eater of these at my institute canteen.

Finally, grabbed a seat in the Audi (Not the Audi Car though) with few of my Facebook Friends from LBSIM 2012-14 page and soon the experience sharing among us started and yes, I was enjoying every bit of it. Day passed by with encouraging words from the Faculty and the values, beliefs, ethics at LBSIM and most importantly about Late Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shatri Ji on whose memory the institute has been established.

No day goes by in LBSIM when something new doesn't happen. I guess the best memorable week was the Cultural Week @ LBSIM 2012(About that some other dayJ).

It's been 2 months now since that Day, The Journey Started and in Management terms, I guess this line say's it all, “I'm Loving it”.

Posting on behalf of Manan Shah..

Little Late.. actually 1 month late.. but i guess Being Late is better than being Absent..

It was 27th july, after the lectures were over it was time for some cricket. All players along with seniors and juniors were on the ground, the one behind the masjid. We had bat & stumps but like problem at most of the places we dint have a hard ball. Ya we had a soft ball that we call a “FUDDU”. So we decided to bring new ball. It was saideep sir who took the responsibility..! till that time we decided to make teams..! it was decided that the match will be of 14 overs..! saideep sir dont know for what reason took long. So we started playing with fuddu and decided the no. Of overs the first batting team will bat with fuddu the same no. Of overs will be bowled in second innings with fuddu..!

The first innings started...! as always pankaj sir with his consistent line and length coupled with intelligent speed change started bowling with fuddu..! it was after 4 overs that saideep sir came with bowl and so it was decided that in second innings first 4 overs will be bowled by fuddu!! But soon our team shattered in batting..! vishal sir followed by sagnik and all returned to the pavilion(benches on the ground). It was the heroic batting of mandhotra sir that helped us reach 34 runs before being bowled out in 10.2 overs..!! ya.. you read it right we just made 34 and target was 35 for opposition in 14 overs..!!!!!! sagnik even said that “chalo sir ab dusri match chalu karte hai..!” but it was subhav who was not ready to lay arms..!and the second innings started..!

as decided earlier first four overs were to be bowled with fuddu..! and i was surprised that i got the first over..! (ya bcoz i bowl spin and am d slowest bowler on ground who believes in giving flight and a nice loop..! and with just 34 this risk was very dangerous) but mandhotra sir said that bowl in your slow way let them hit the bowl..! then i understood that as this is fuddu it won't travel a long distance and it will result in catches..! i started bowling and to my surprise the idea worked we got 3 wickets in the 1st over, all in the way we thought..! the bowl was th given to sagnik who bowled at great speed..! i dint think that this speed was possible with fuddu..! at the end of 4 overs with fuddu they were 5 down for just 10 on the board with deboo, kewal, pankaj sir back to hut, we knew that we had a real chance to win..! but for them they had manmit and saideep sir on field..! the best in business..! now was the time for hard bowl..!but as they were into slum nearly they thought to lower the gear and get set first before going for kill..! but our bowlers vishal sir, subhav and mandho sir were well determined to win..! never saw subhav bending his back so hard..! one f the bowl of vishal sir kept low and we had saideep sir walking back..! Manmit on other side still continued the fight..! he played a lofted shot that we all thot went for six..!! but we had person known for miracles there..! mandho sir took a catch with one hand on the boundary..! and we knew that this was the final nail in the coffin..! finally we ran into their lower order..! and bundled them out for 24..!!! a comprehensive victory..!!!

this victory forever will be there in the most memorable game i saw and luckily i was a part of it..!

thats all fellas..!!

Hi

Finally the much awaited results of SIC(summer Internship Cell) were announced today.A total of 3 people from my class made through the final list and now they share the burden of high hopes of the fellow classmates.

All the best to the selected ones.

An overall eventful day ended with a very pertinent presentation by a representative from the prowess database. While it was a very informative and detailed session, the understanding was simplified by a live demo of the software used for searching and analysing the database. Eyes in the auditorium brightened when it was told that one can actually track market legends like Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and look for tips while investing in the market. However the prime concern of the students was getting useful information that might be helpful in the academic assignments.

Considering that this session was in addition to a previous similar session organized by CRISIL ,it reflects the management €™s interest in promoting finance learning among the students which is a highly encouraging sign for finance enthusiast.

Kudos to all the organizers and hoping for similiar sessions in the future as well.

The second round EL CONTEO of COMIENZO was a virtual trading type scenario. Every team had Rs 75000/- as virtual money which they had to spend on various shops. Every shop had different points. At first there were 15 shops with 1 shop for each team. The aim was to maximize your points & in pursuit you can use up your whole money.

The winners of 2nd round advanced to Round 3 called Switch-A-Roo. In this round one had to sell a particular product to a different target audience like selling bikes to girls, jeans to 60+ aged people, barbie doll to boys etc. The results are eagerly awaited by all but above all it was really a fun filled event organized by CEREBRATE.

Debsoc Event :- Intra Institute Debate Competition

Debate's are always Fun to Participate n watch !!
I always believe in the fact that it brings out a different person in u ..

Debsoc i.e The Debating Society had it's Inaugural annual Intra Institute Debate Competition today which witnessed not only great participation but brought to light some quality debaters from the LBSIM family ..
It was quite a spectacular show put on today in our Auditorium .
The event consisted of 22 teams of 2 members each which participated in the battle of words today.
The first round was a prelims round after which 7 teams went on to battle out on the Topic
"This house believes that CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is a business strategy and not philanthropy."

And frankly Speaking some points were just amazing . They did made me sit on the edge of my seat.
A cheerful crowd added the left out spark.

After Debsoc it was the turn of Hrythm to conduct their event "The Good The Bad & The Ugly". In the First event 22 pictures were shown to the audience and they had to relate and write down the personality trait/HR Concept depicted through the pic.The second round's name was The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, in which every team was given 6 mins to stage an act on situations. The situations given were like "Imraan hashmi of office", "Mallika Sehrawat Of Office", "Office Rumor(She's a He)", Male Sexual Harrasmant, Alcohol consumption in Office etc. 7 teams were shortlisted for the second round, 4 of juniors and 3 of seniors and they had to present 2 min acts each for a Good Way , The Bad way and The Ugly way to handle those things of how an HR Manager would handle the things in a good way, Bad and the Ugly way(2+2+2= 6mins), 10 mins were given to them to prepare their script. It was ultimately hilarious because the rules of the contest were to be as witty and as innovative as possible.

The Quizzing Kommunity on their part organized The Bollywood Quiz. It had 2 rounds. 1st round was elimination round & 2nd & final round was divided into 3 parts- Infinite Round, Rapid Fire & the Options Round. Elimination round had 20 questions each carrying 10 marks. That means a total of 200 marks. Yes, 200 MARKS. 5 teams were selected for the final round who battled hard through the 3 rounds to claim the Rs 1000/- winner's prize money. It was again an event full of complete fun & madness.
Finally the much awaited results of photography contest on the theme "Delhi Monsoons" have been declared. The winner is Arjun Chawla with Deepthi Rokkam coming 1st runner up & Shreyans Jain the 2nd runner up. Winners have been given Certificates.
