that depends also on wat u want to specialize in..

Chawwe answer de de is query ka.. Chawwa = Freakynut

a small query..
I have heard MDI's niche area is marketing and people bent upon marketing leave instis like IIMI and K for MDI..

what i would like to know is how's finance @MDI.. what are the prospects for a fin guy @ MDI and how are the placements in this? lotsa guys gettin into i-banking and stuff?? and what bout summer placements? fin people gettin interns of their choice ??

another query is whether there is any limit to the number of people who can major in a given area (say op).. i mean.. if there are a lot of guys who want it are all offered or is their a limit to the number of guys who can take up one specialization?.. (i guess the batch usually has people with varied interests so this wont be an issue.. but phir be!)

thanks

I forgot to ask this question in the last post.. and i dunno why but i don have the option to edit tht one!!

Ok.. could the seniors explain a lil more bout the student exchange program? i mean.. i've read in the brochure that around 2/3rds of Mandevians get a chance to spend around a term abroad.. should i take this at its face value?? does this include PGPIM guys who anyway spend half their course outside??
how many guys on an average goes on a student exchange and how does one go bout it?? as in who gets to go and where?

PS: i've heard so much bout this student exchange programs and seen people goin too.. i would really love to get an opportunity too hence the over-inquisitiveness:happy:

Watever you have heard or read about MDIs student exchange program is true .... this year I guess around 100 people have registered for the exchange program.

Some who were keen are not going maybe because they are majoring in fin and dont want to miss out on a couple of courses in the 5th term which are taught by some faculty who is very very special one.

There is a selection process for exchange progs as in students have to give their choices of foreign univs and fill up forms which have SOPs n stuff. These are evaluated by faculty and interviews are conducted. After which the results are declared ... results as in everybody who fills in the forms gets selected for some or the other school from the 3-5 choices he/she gives. Then its upto the student to decide if he/she wants to take that exchange offer and go or not.

Trust me if any of you are keen on exchange progs you wont find a better place in the country than MDI. Plus the International Relations Commitee , a student run club takes care of all the tie ups, scholarship applications, visa guidance etc etc.

Its pretty simple. Also tie ups are such that one either gets a sholarship, waiver for acco or an internship etc over there which subsides the travel and living expenses greatly.

Not to mention you get to learn at some of the best univs in Europe and America and also have fun over there. Once you are back the international exposure surely helps in some way or the other.

It is based on merit but you have to pay to whichever college you go to. However, there are a lot of scholarships available. You will get to know in detail when you get here.

sorry rockball's info is a bit wrong .. u r selected on merit by mdi. but whichever college u go to, u dont need to pay that college anything(tuition fees is waivered)... but u have to incur expenses on ur personal expenses there.. there r scholarships available to take care of that too...

Well now iyerboy surely knows;)

How do you describe meeting the CEO of the multibillion conglomerate, PEPSICO.?
Let me try.
Left for NY on 15th by Jet Airways..landed in Newark airport and found a limo waiting to take me to the hotel. The hotel was on Steamboat road and as the name suggests there was a stream next to the hotel with boats in it... the view was awesome...
Spent the night restlessly wondering what the morning would bring..will I be able to do a good job presenting the analysis to the PepsiCo board? I could manage only a few hours...
Had breakfast with the VP (HR) of PepsiCo India... he was going to accompany us to the HQ at Purchase.... maybe he felt I needed a little bit of protection ;)
Reached the office and found the view breataking... the office is actually a huge park which is open to public.. saw people with baskets of food, children and dogs having picnic on the park... The park also has great sculpture by artists with background varying from an industrial worker to an aeronautical engineer...the park is actually a national heritage site.. http://www.hudsonrivervalley.com/index.cfm?section_id=6&page;_id=169
Got the system working in quick time..and did a dry run of the presentation when a huge, friendly guy walked in... he introduced himself as the President of the Asian region.. :w00t:
He is a lovely person..very alive and very friendly...
Then the VP (HR) of the PepsiCo Worldwide walked in.... another warm personality... and before I could take all this into my stride, Ms. Indra Nooyi stepped into the boardroom... She looked so imposing and had an aura of a rockstar... She asked for lunch and all of us sat down to have food in the boradroom..I could hardly gulp down a couple of spoonfulls...
Post lunch was when I presented the analysis of the case http://pepsicotastethesuccess.com/
It went of smoothly and a few questions were asked.. they were fielded with elan..
All the board members were very happy... there was a lot of clapping and patting of the backs... Then Ms. Nooyi asked us if we wanted to see her office...:cheerio:
so we accompanied her to her office... it was as imposing as her... there photos with Ms Nooyi and Mr Saad were clicked... Guess these are the photos that I will frame and hang forever on my walls....
We then had a tour of the PepsiCo office premises... bought some memoribillia.. was gifted a watch by Ms Nooyi.... and left for the second hotel... had around a day before I flew back to home...
The new hotel was right on Times Square...look out of the window and I could see the Square... a sight that I cannot forget...wanted to catch "The Lion King" (from where I take my nickname on PG) on Broadway, but all the tickets were sold out..went to the Empire State Building the next day...took a cruise that went all around the island... saw the Statue of Liberty, the Wall Street, the George Washington Bridge etc...
Took a NYC cab and went to JFK... and then flew back home.....

Was an unforgetful experience.... dunno what can be bigger than this... Hopefully I did MDI proud and left a small impression on the people there....

It was nice to hear the entire thing - congos once again pal - u really have done MDI proud πŸ˜ƒ :)

Ahhish

Can we know which is proper thread for such kind of query.
There is other thread called " MDI result out"..someone posted similiar kind of query there and got the response "ask these questions on the other thread"

So wherever a person post query regarding placement , everywhere he get answer "ask these questions on the other thread".

Please let us know the thread to put specific query regarding placements in MDI.

P.S: No offence meant.
