Life@ BIM Trichy

Going to Hyderabad this weekend for a senior's wedding. Hoping to catch up with the seniors who are working there. A vacation trip at last, after 2 long months.

2 more weeks. Can't wait for classes to begin.

Most juniors have already reached Trichy and most of us seniors are gearing up with many scheduled to reach there on 2nd or 3rd. I'll be reaching there on the night of 4th.

My summer project is still going on and honestly I am enjoying every little bit of it.

Well, i'm back in coll for 2nd year...

We have our coll from 5th July ( same as last year ) .It starts with Viva and everybody is scared like hell. This time ,only one more additional chance will be given to clear the Viva unlike 4 times for our seniors. Hope to clear atleast in the 2nd attempt πŸ˜ƒ !

My D-Day has arrived. Viva in the afternoon. Keeping fingers crossed.

As expected ,didn't clear Viva. Having one more chance ,hopefully by next week ,for we need time to prepare.:w00t:

One of those rare instances when luck has favoured me. Cleared viva. Already done with the report, printing, binding etc. Pretty relaxed.

Classes began today with two of my favourite professors, both named RS, handling Software Project Management and Strategic Management respectively. Had class till 8. Came back and indulged in an hour of volleyball.

Started with our SCM classes today. Couldn't have asked for a better beginning. The professor organised two interactive games on understanding the supply chain and the importance of inventory management in SCM respectively. I, the volunteer from my group, messed up in the 'production' stage leading to a higher lead time and thereby a low score. But thanks to a friend in another group who messed up the whole thing, my team ended up second from last. But the game helped understand the supply chain system of a typical manufacturing organization.

Later in the evening, attended the wedding of a friend's brother at Sangam hotel. Met a few of my best friends from BIM26. A great evening to round off a great day.

Summer intern project review scheduled tomorrow. Have done a good job in the last two months, looking forward to an exciting review. :cheerio:

Review done. It was more of a chit chat with the panelists on what my company must do to regain its market share. They did not want to extend it for the whole 20 minutes, just wanted to keep it simple and asked for objectives, findings and recommendations. TRS Sir welcomed one of my recommendations and also gave his own suggestions.

Day was largely chilled out. Went out in the evening with friends to help them get their reports printed. Core marketing classes begin tomorrow with Retailing and Brand Management scheduled for the whole afternoon after which is lined up the Icebreaker event. Eagerly looking forward to another exciting day.

Had Summer Project Viva today. It was a cake walk, unlike the Comprehensive Viva. Nobody got a repeat for this one I guess.

We had arranged Ice breaking for 1st years but it turned out to be an Audition for Mr.BIM and Ms.BIM competition. As the first years have already started interacting with among themselves as well us with 2nd years, there was no need of ice-breaking and hence our Kalaicom devised of going with this audition.
Majority of the 1st years participated in the competition, wherein the ppl,who had registered their name for Audition were called and asked to perform simple tasks - Dancing,Singing,Proposing,Acting,Debating to name a few. All in all,we hope the 1st years enjoyed the night.

Half an hour in the computer centre doing the Sectorama quiz and then rushing to the mess at 9:45 PM to not miss out on the fun and to find out who my chit-mate is, only to discover that the chit-mate name revealing would not happen. But action was very much there and it included dragging an innocent soul like me on to the stage and terrifying the poor junior girl who was asked to propose to Osama (that would be me). It ultimately ended up with Osama reciting the 'Alaipayuthey' dialogue in English in the name of romance :splat:

Integrated Marketing Communications class begins an hour from now. Eagerly looking forward to it. Brand Management intro class turned out to be lively yesterday with brand names being thrown around.

A 'light' day when not much classes are scheduled. Time to go to Trichy to catch up with some personal work.

Soumikda (Soumik Ganguly of PG) was in campus today to ink an advertising deal with BIM. This will enable BIM to gain better visibility in PG forums.

In the evening, he delivered a special lecture to first years and I was one of the three second years to witness it. The talk was more about what more than an MBA must be done to capitalize on the opportunities in the corporate world. Wanted to have a one-on-one chat with him but was forced to take leave abruptly to make a Brand Mgmt presentation in the neighbouring classroom.

Presentations of other committees and clubs will happen on Thursday morning. In the process of putting up a presentation for the same. Have already got a number of enthusiastic first years inquiring about various committees. Hope to draw an equally enthusiastic response on Thursday.

7 PM. That's hard to believe, given that we see almost all of you in the mess at 4:30 for evening tea and hear that you don't have classes after that. Anyways good to know you are having fun πŸ˜›

Selection process for clubs and committees begins today. Would be heading to the lecture hall in another 45 mins to make presentations of our respective groups. Can't believe it's one year already. Feels like yesterday when I was a member of the audience watching the various presentations, weighing my options, preparing write-ups and facing interviews in the middle of the night. Got into a committee of my choice in the end and after a year, responsibilities have increased manifold. All geared up

Movie screening by Kalaicom. Tamil tonight and English & Hindi tomorrow. Awesome view of the screen from my block terrace.

Had no classes today and did a short trip to Tanjore.Visited a relative and the big temple. Returned and headed straight to the committee meeting to discuss the selection process starting tomorrow. Meanwhile X-Men and Dabangg were screened and the movies went as late as into 12:30 AM.

Entrepreneurship Cell induction programme is scheduled for tomorrow. Probably for the first time, a committee induction is going to involve a chief guest.

Clubs n Committees selection processes are almost over.We are planning to have a meeting with all committees to sort out the Member Selection issues before releasing the final list of selected ppl.

In the first year, we learnt about Negotiation in Organizational Behaviour course, now we are understanding it first hand. Some tough choices had to be made by all committees and it was not easy being a recruiter. HR folks would sympathise with me, I believe.

After four consecutive days of afternoon classes stretching till 8 PM, got a "lean" day today. A classmate has bought a new DSLR camera and is taking portfolio snaps of himself and his friends. Time to catch some candid shots for myself.
