Since day 1 of July it has been all windy with strong breeze blowing 24 x 7. Today the skies finally opened up to some pleasant evening showers. Off to the ground for a game of cricket amid a light drizzle.
Entire batch went out for a dinner treat last night, hosted by the folks who cleared CFA Level 1 certification. Playing Anthakshari in the bus,the dance floor at the hotel, the "who dares dance" contest in the bus on the way back...it was total fun. First outing as a batch.
It's all football action in the ground as we all gear up for FREEKICK, our annual intra-college football tournament, starting on 9th. Did a trip to a sportswear maker in Trichy and found that four of the teams from here had already given orders for stitching and printing jerseys.
Team after team practising late at night under lights, some of them devising strategies well in advance, going back to hostels at as late as 4 AM....
Happy Friendship Day to Puys from BIM :)
Had an intense football practice session last night and was damn tired when I retired to sleep at 3 AM. Woke up, went to the mess for breakfast and saw two banners hung in the mess for us to exchange friendship messages (the space in both has been exhausted). Did my bit for it, pulling the legs of some of my batchmates.
Zetetica, the HR Club, is organising a greeting card ceremony to mark the special day. Students can collect as many friendship cards as they need and give them to their special friends. Last year, they were giving away friendship ribbons. Looking forward to an exciting day.
Freshers Party tomorrow night to be followed by the football tournament FREEKICK after 24 hours. ISAI KAVERI, a classical music competition to be held next Sunday, to mark the auspicious Tamil month of Aadi. Meanwhile mid-terms are just 10 days away. Tasks cut out.

Isai Kaveri is being organized by the institute and not any specific committee. It is a classical music competition that solicits participation from Indian classical music buffs around the country. The best entries get to perform on stage with Anuradha Sriram, who will also be performing on stage. It was conceived in April but the groundwork began only in July.
Had an awesome time at the Freshers Party last night. While some juniors sung on stage, some others danced. Performances by seniors was added in between. In the end, everyone shook their feet on the dance floor.
The crowns of Mr.BIM and Miss BIM went to the two who deserved them the most.
It's football action next.
Freekick, the football tournament kicked off in style. My team, Galacticos, started on a winning note with a 6-0 scoreline. The Tyrantz lived up to their name and unleashed their tyranny on the Appatuckers to win 5-0. A close match between the Sizzlers and the Aventadors (a car brand under Lamborghini. whatever it means !) saw the latter scoring a goal at the last minute to break the 0-0 scoreline. The Nakamukkas and the Zeroes finished on 0-0.
There was a heavy downpour before the start of the game and for a moment, we thought the game would not happen. Once the rain stopped, we all pitched in to cover the wet areas in the ground with sand. Enjoyed the whole thing. Awaiting more action tomorrow.
Its masti at its prime..classes during the day time..football event at night..BIM rocks....

Three wins in a row for the Galacticos and we are through to the semis. Tomorrow the other three in the final four would be known.
Meanwhile 'Mangathas' one of the PGP2 girls throwball teams won in two straight sets over the 'What The' team. 'G-Power' a PGP1 team played fantastically and pulled off an amazing win from a near-hopeless situation. 'Daring Divas' the other PGP1 team gave a tough fight.
its been one month at BIM and life here is a bliss.... literally there is no time to breathe.... days are completely packed wid classes, assignments, projects and case studies...and the rest of the day is allocated to more important things, the fun stuff π there is some occasion to have fun everyday... freshers party, friendship day celebs, football and throw-ball tournaments ,.. the list is endless... enjoying each n every moment here :)

For the 4th time in a row in the last one year, Team Galacticos have qualified for the final of sporting events. The football finals is going to be an all-PGP2 one with Tyrantz being the other team to qualify. Samba Boyz of PGP1 were the toughest opponents that they came across in the last five days.
Team Mangathas of PGP2 comprehensively won the throwball tournament against Team G-Power of PGP1. The latter, particularly two of the Sportscomm members, though showed a lot of intent and aggression.
Alumni from batch No.1 (1984-86) are coming to campus for their 25th year reunion. Hope to derive some insights from them about "those days".
Isai Kaveri, confluence of Indian classical music, an event organised by BIM that made everyone trace back to the rich cultural heritage and kaleidoscopic variety of the Indian roots. It was an attempt to initiate a cultural equivalent of Crescita, the flagship management event of the institute. Stunning performances by S. Kasim, S. Babu, Sriram Parasuram and Anoorada Sriram.

It was an evening of music to mark the founding day of BIM. Earlier in the evening, the first batch alumni shared with us their experiences and urged us to make use of the variety of opportunities available in today's world to make it big. ZETETICA threw them a surprise by hanging a banner containing the batch photo. They also made a collage of the messages that the incumbent batches had for the alumni. The reaction of the alumni on seeing those messages was priceless.
My team, the Galacticos, have emerged the champions of the football tournament, Freekick'11. The cup which slipped from our grasp last year is now ours. Sportscomm did an excellent job in conducting the tournament. Next target : Volleyball tournament.
Had loads of fun at I-Day yesterday. Events like rangoli, writing competition, eating competition, slow cycling, slow biking and musical chairs were conducted. Marked the end of a week full of events starting with the Freshers Party on 8th, followed by the football and throwball tournaments on 9th, the alumni reunion and Isai Kaveri on 14th and finally the independence day celebrations.
