Life@ BIM Trichy

A roller coaster ride last week. First the Personal Growth Lab sessions which was a forum for us to open up and share everything about ourselves and in the process discover our true selves. Initially it was a bit of a drag but later we realized there is no agenda except us opening up in discussions. Came to know that the true learning will come over a period of time and not immediately.

Went on a road-trip to Palani and Coimbatore the day before. Early morning start, had a darshan in one hour, went over to Coimbatore, reminisced my happy days there, ate at all the popular eatouts like Annapoorna Hotel, ended as a trip worth remembering for ages.

The farewell party last night. Got on stage, expressed gratitude to all the people who made my 2 years at BIM memorable, did, or rather, tried to do an impromptu dance, came out feeling happy. The traditional candles exchange ceremony - wasn't feeling as emotional as last year (when I was on the verge of tears when giving candles to some seniors), somewhere at the back of my mind, there is this feeling that people would be close to me forever and I would not be separated from them. But gotta be rational and come to terms with reality.

All set for the Strategic Management simulation game exam tomorrow.

The first exam of final trims Strategic Management exam is over. Managed to get some marks.... the real exams start from tomo : International marketing for me and it goes till 13th of April, the final day of my college life I guess...

Waiting to write all the exams at one stretch !!

4 more exams, 7 more days ... waiting waiting...

For some HR ppl, today (06/04/12) was the last day 😞

Nostalgia preparation is going on. Tutu Bharath and Flabbergasting Sanju has taken the responsibility of creating our BIM 27 Notalgia album consisting of our batch picture collections and testimonials about every individual. They will be preparing a PDF doc before 13th April I guess. Later it might be printed and distributed depending upon availability of time.

So the day has come. Final day to say Goodbye to BIM,the place which gave me so much and helped to boost myself in most distressing times...

I'm preparing for last exam(Rural Marketing) of my BIM's life today now and I don't know whether I will be part of PG and contribute to it like the way I did so far ...

Not able to frame even a sentence properly right now....

Good bye BIM , Good bye Good Life

The day has finally come. Obviously the best 2 years of my life. A phase that I saw myself transform as a person for the better. Am deeply indebted to BIM for making me what I am. Will definitely miss this place, the people, the hostel life, the classroom life. Have to move on in life.

From now on we will be updating in this thread for all the aspirants and pass outs of BIM..Hope to see our super seniors soon..

BIM(2012-14)

Hello BIMites!!! Lets make this thread more active πŸ˜ƒ ......

After the arduous CAT journey and the rigmarole of GD and interviews, finally landed up in one of the premier institutions of the country, BIM, Trichy. And what better place than this thread to share a glimpse of how the life has been till now. The first day commenced with our registration process and ended up with a warm welcome by the director along with the entire faculty.

Subsequently, classes commenced and it could be sensed that the days ahead of us will be very hectic and taxing. The campus is cool and serene. Hoping to have next two years as productive, fun-filled and with loads of learning.

Will be writing next post soon !!!!!

Voila !!!

Recently got to know that Trichy finds an important place in the history of Godrej. In a session on the history of the company a mention was made of Vembusons, an Interio furniture dealer in Trichy who has been dealing in Godrej products for a long time and is continuing to do so. The fact is that Vembusons is owned by none other than our Marketing professor Sundar Sir.

Phew.....days are passing by as swiftly as wind....

This is how the first twenty days have been at BIM. Though there is an anticipation and cheerfulness to learn something new each day, but it becomes a bit challenging to manage assignments, surprise quizzes, guest lectures and of course the best part of attending and being attentive in classes. Though many BIMites would challenge the last part .....

Anyways, its been a great experience so far and looking forward for more to come .....

Till next post ...... Signing off .....

In Haridwar now on a business tour. Took a holy dip in the Ganga river and couldn't help noticing the few similarities between this holy town and Trichy : First the rivers, holy river of India and holy river of Tamilnadu. Add to this the temples located on the riverbank, Ganga mandir vs Srirangam. Then the size of the two towns, a small area that is no bigger than the area between the central and chatram bus stands. But the best of all, the presence of a BHEL factory. Memories of BIM continue to come flooding back like the way the waters of the Ganga flow.

The landmark so synonymous with BIM is BHEL Trichy behind which the campus is located. But that's just one side of the coin. The other side is made up by the Ordnance Factory Trichy (OFT). Sound of gunshots (of guns being tested) could be heard everyday in our hostels. A business tour to Ordnance Factory Muradnagar (near Ghaziabad in UP) in the last two days brought back memories of the few times I got to spend in OFT. The annual OFT exhibitions, the occasional for-a-change bike trips to Trichy city (after getting bored of the usual Tanjore road route), but the first ever trip stands apart in my memory.

It was the day after Freekick 2010 and three of us were gearing up to go to Chennai for a weekend. We booked a late night train. We had just crossed the first circle, when my roomie who was coming to drop us started going straight instead of right. He said the road through OFT is a shorter route to Trichy. I wasn't prepared for the pitch dark (although secured) road, potholes here and there and the long ride till Pudukottai road from where junction was another 8 kms away. And my roomie called it a short route ! But after a year the roads there were relaid and I began making occasional trips there.

It's been about 100 days since I joined this wonderful college, and it is about the same time that I left all my blogging stuff in my company's (Infosys) giant blogging network. The first trimester has just gone off washing away all the exam fears, and several apprehensions, the Second Trim has brought in a new fresh blood, and also an idea of how to approach a hectic B-School Life. So i thought, i would start blogging again in this wonderful forum where several of my fellow class mates and alumni of this prestigious institution still keep buzzing around with their experiences during the stay here.

The past 3 months have been very great, with each day being vibrant and bustling with some sort of activity. Right from the first day, when we began with the ICE Breaking ceremony, followed by a host of GURUWAR events (For Non-BIM'mites : Read it as Thursday Evening Events such as quizzes and other game shows), the Fresher's day events, Mr. & Mrs. BIM Contests, ISAI Kaveri - Celebrating the 28th Birthday of BIM, Ethnic Day Celebrations, Independence Day events , the committee selection interviews, the buddy selection process and the little treats that we go out for, the BIM Talkies - Movie Festival and lastly not to forget the exciting FREEKICK event - Footballing at its best, followed by the THROWBALL event for the girls. All these have created an enormous impression on me and also on everyone out here. Thanks BIM and a big Kudos to the folks out here (both 1st and 2nd yr students) who have been able to deliver all these to us with great zeal and enthusiasm.

If this is not it, the upcoming week begins with GRATIA €ℒ12 - The Thanks Giving event for the seniors, followed by MARWAR - the Annual Intra College Marketing Event and then the Volleyball and Shuttle Badminton tournaments. Pheewww, there's lot to contribute and also to partake.

Signing off for now :-)
Regards,
Pavan
@rpavankumar , Mr and MRS. BIM ?? . We alumni know it better because we miss BIM.
@shekys - Well, just realising it now πŸ˜ƒ Anyways, good that you guys still miss BIM. We are having super fun out here now...

I love dwelling on the simpler joys in life ! πŸ˜‰ Foooood for instance ! I was so apprehensive about mess food and the news about how other colleges run their canteen & mess was in no way comforting ! But it turned out to be much much much better than what I expected here at BIM, to the extent that I rarely long for mom's food ! Right from the Aloo parathas & the achaar to the ghee laden pongal with cashews, from the freshly cut veggies for the diet conscious to the yummy samosas & kheer - BIM's mess committee (Messcom) satisfies every palate ! Kudos ! So to all those foodies out there, your paradise is right here at BIM !
M lovin' it !

Ohh myy myyy Pavan....you have simply stole the show with a marathon post .... i can easily conjecture from this what you would have done in your trimester exams ...... well, after the roller coaster ride of first trimester, somehow we have gathered the courage to embark the journey for second.... and one can safely say that it has been living upto its expectations.....i am sure after MBA, each student's life here can be taken up as a case study as to how he/she has managed to tackle all the problems and sail through it successfully, though a small hiccups are expected in-between .

We are having a welcome break with two consecutive holidays at weekends ...... hoping to make the most of it ....

PS : Visited Rockfort temple today, and one can safely say that it is one of the most enchanting places in Trichy. The view from the mountain top is breathtaking to say the least.

Till my next post, Voila !!!!!!!!

A sneak peak of our institute :)

Marwar is here folks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its time to foster the marketing grey cells and be absorbed with nothing else but war for the market in the campus
