Life@ BIM Trichy

Dedicated to : To all those who aspire to join BIM, stay put ! Your aspirations are so worth it

29th batch completed its 5 months here at BIM ! And trust me, its been one jolly ride ... I can say with conviction that I have learnt so much more than what I learnt in 4 years engineering all put together . Its not about accounting or operations management that I am taking about, its about how I have changed as a person. Its about being more tolerant, being punctual and the capacity to handle peer pressure.. Its also about how to freak out once the exam ends, how to conjure up a complete- B-plan in 2 days, how to complete an entire volume overnight in group studies sipping tea and enjoying at the same time, and so much more that it is overwhelming to describe..

It's been the most challenging 5 months of my life ! But the very best too ...something that has really made me a much better person - personally and academically. !
Cheeeers !

@shekys : Welcome welcome ! We are glad to be your host
@Jyotsna... Sorry, change in plan. Won't be coming there on 8th. Some time later for Sangam and maybe for official visit to BHEL.

Thoroughly enjoyed the last hour of Digital Marketing class . the class ended with the "GANGNAM Style" dance. The link is below.. Enjoy :-)

that was not the only dance.. also danced the famous chicken dance..

Enjoying a refreshing break after the grueling exams.....

Enjoyed the breezy ride in my bike from trichy to coimbatore...

Yes Yes Yes Yes................ I'm going crazy, in fact entire BIM is going crazy.

FOXTROT'13 the annual cultural extravaganza organized by the most happening committee Kalaicom is back and is better and bigger with huge prize money at stake.

Any adjective will fall short to describe the atmosphere which one is experiencing at the moment in the institute. Music, full volume foot tapping numbers, top of the voice campaigning for the cricket tournament which is scheduled the next day...............OMG, this place is literally electrifying at its best.

Hold your breath, clean your schedule, cancel all your plans to study......

The floor burns tomorrow at 07:30 PM
Here's wishing fellow BIMites, fellow Puys and one and all, Happy Republic Day :)

Indians first, anything else second.

As the sound of the bugle is heard loud and clear, the players are ready to take on their fellow batch mates turned fierce competitors in the mother of all battles

BIM's Annual Cricket tournament - Doosra' 2013

The war escalates to new level with the battle of minds now fought on field

BIM, Trichy v/s IIM, Trichy - country's two premier management institute battle it all out to win the glory.

Be part of all the live action or miss it all .....................

Finally did a trip to BIM for a day on Jan 26 to coincide with the start of 'Doosra' the cricket tournament. While I could not make it for Freekick and Spikes and the Dec 8 trip had to be cancelled, it was the perfect time for me to relive my last two years at BIM.

The ice-cold morning weather of Trichy, a cup of hot mess coffee in the morning, the R-day flag hoisting, quick trip to Srirangam followed by a visit to a senior's newly opened sports shop. But nothing could beat the joy of catching up with the juniors, especially the 29th batch ones most of whom I had only interacted with online.

The warm-up matches began with the PGP 1 vs PGP 2 encounter for which I did some commentary followed by participation in the invitation match with IIM-Trichy. It all ended with being the judge for the jersey unveiling ceremony. Felt great to see the display of creativity topped with oodles of humour that reminded me of my own "experience" of being a mascot last year.

Could not spend enough time with most of the juniors there. Hope to make another visit on 3rd Feb for the semis but it's fingers crossed for now as we wait in eagerness and a restless enthusiasm for Sangam.

The response to BIMQuest quiz at Crescita 2013 has been overwhelming and to top it all it's going to be Avinash Mudaliar who is going to be the quizmaster. How I wish I could make it to Trichy just to watch his quiz-mastering in action !!

Crescita - The annual management conference is live and moving strong. This year we have even better speakers, more enthusiasm and higher intellectual journey to undertake. Keep following for the latest updates.

Has any inaugural address started with a quiz €Ś? It did at Crescita 2013..Yes..It happens only at BIM !!!
To be successful, you need to understand the interconnection between the mind and the body. This would lead you to peak performance!
- Austin PM, CEO, Max Value University.
Ms.Moushumi Bose,Founder, HR-Executive & Life Coach, Divinity Consultant was the second speaker of the day at Crescita. She took us on a “Diversity & Inclusivity Journey” which was a path filled with the significant strategies that are essential to handle today's shrinking talent pool and ways to attract and retain talent. She brought out the different skills of the various workforce segments and believes that their collective efforts could bring about a remarkable transformation in the workplace. She emphasized that “Generational and Gender Harmony” would result in a positive correlation with the company's performance.

A “diversity de tour” of various countries across the World was an eye-opener on today's workforce realities. The demographic trend – a “must-know” business tool for all the firms to analyze – was dealt in detail, as it is the expected “Business Alarm” of the near future. Mature Organizations are expected to be “quick-reactors” to the diverse needs and need to realize that failing to include diversity policies would only mean a big loss.

The various individual and Organizational barriers that stop women from chasing their dreams were analyzed and according to Ms. Moushumi, it is the women today who are under a massive “brain drain”. The stubborn realities that are responsible for today's state of affairs was elaborated on along with the metamorphosis of “Male Profiling” of women to “Uber cool and composed” women leaders of today.
The speaker of session 3, Mr. Raja Krishnamoorthy, the Director HRD of Talent Maximus India Pvt, Ltd., dealt a session on “Transformational leadership”. Transformational leadership builds upon the cornerstone of empowering employees and increasing their sense of ownership and thereby accountability. It enables the organisation to grow holistically and progressively; scaling new heights, and in so doing completely tunes in with the theme of Crescita 2013 – Aarohan.

Mr. Raja Krishnamoorthy started off with Leadership – lack of it and dire need for concentration on it. He delivered not only an enlightening session but was also enthralling and enigmatic. He went on to talk about transformational leadership and its necessity in the present day world. The world around us has grown so tolerant to the loopholes and hecklers of the society, that people would rather sit and frown but will not get up and take the step for initiating the necessary change. He brought up relevant examples from the real life scenario with a tinge of humour, and thus kept the audience glued to his words while making his point about how the transformational leader should move beyond the obvious and be a creator in himself.

He elaborated on the challenges plaguing the society namely rat race leading to anxiety, language of aggression (curse to the corporate world-language of warfare and destruction), limited perspectives and lack of leadership mindset. The bar must be set high for one to truly excel and succeed. He highlighted the AIM High Concept wherein “A” stands for Aligning with the competency based vision, “I” stands for Integrating with values and “M” stands for mastery in delivery which can be achieved through “Vairagya” (dispassionate determination).

His lively stage presence and engaging examples kept the audience hanging on to his words. The session was not only enlightening but actually helped the budding managers to develop a refreshed and relevant outlook towards leadership. The negativity of the stressful lives that forms the norm of the present day life can be combated only with the light of positivity, a hope that transformational leadership can breathe into the society.

@Ria_atBIM

First time staying away from home…that also this far..never expected life would be this exciting. Three months past, one trimester over and it feels like I have joined BIM just a few days back. July 1st was the day when I arrived here with bag full of immense curiosity, apprehension and uncertainty. But BIM made me feel like home in no more than a day. The serene atmosphere, a nice accommodation, helpful seniors and strong bonding among friends have made life easier. The first memorable day at BIM is my birthday, my friends here made my day. The Ice Breaking Ceremony was when we all came to know about each other. The 'Farenite' party organized by the senior girls was night to remember. Isai Kaveri, Freshers party, Guruwar events, sports tournaments, are some of the important days that are unforgettable. Studying is fun here. The faculty members try to make the classes as interesting as possible. Missing a class is never an option for me….I have to agree that pressure to perform is one of the major hurdle, but MBA is all about handling such pressure. BIM of course has several ways of rejuvenation as well…Badminton, table tennis, basket ball, throw ball, football, cricket and what not? “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”---this is a saying that every BIMite believes in. The campus vibrates with energy and sprit when there is any event being hosted in our playground. Another aspect is the food. Being a Bengali, I was really scared whether I would be able to adopt with the new fooding habit. But the variety of quality foods being cooked at mess, right from breakfast, lunch to dinner, there was no complaints at all. Life at BIM is extraordinary, seniors told me this and now I am realizing it. Waiting for much more exciting days to come.

Wat r the foods that they provide?? Macher jol dae??
