Life@ BIM Trichy

tu kab sudrega yaar ????

yup as soon as bim gives us some time to reflect.;)
well midterms just got over, did all the jagratas, gosh why is cf so tough.

Hello puys,
I am Abhishek from BIM 26. The previous posts, along with the regularly updated blog pretty much encapsulate what life at BIM is all about. Having spent more than 5 months at BIM-there's one theme that runs across all these months-'Hectic but fun'. Hectic as in - we were handed marketing case study presentations the day i first set foot in the college-to be submitted the next day-fun as in sitting under open skies with our new laptops and new team members-unravelling what KOTLER meant by creating, communicating and delivering value. 5 months on, the laptops may have turned old but the work pressure has simply snowballed and so has the sense of camaderie.
BIM has lived up to what its promised and given back more than i had initially expected.By the way there is a corporate finance test tomorrow and it seems i am a book behind preparations-but then i am too elated at getting selected into a team of my choice for the upcoming BCL. Please excuse me for now-will be back with more experiences later.

R & S Football Tournament 09'
This was the first of many sporting events to come for the year 2009-2010. The tournament was conducted in two games football for guys and throwball for girls. It started off with 8 teams in play, 4 each from PGP1 & PGP2. The football tournament was played on league cum knockout basis with 2 teams from each group of 4 qualifying for knockout rounds. The tournament saw several close encounters in the league phases and threw up new heroes to the limelight. But at the end of league stage 4 teams namely, the Dark Knights & Kaalais of PGP2 and Catalans & Arcanes of PGP1 stood out. The Dark knights won the tournament after a nailbiting final against kaalais. The catalans (in their flamboyant, fluorescent jerseys !!!) ended in the third place. The ladies had their share of fun too with the throwball tournament throwing up some fiercely competed matches and at the end the supernovas had the final say and ended up as winners.

SMASHES '09
The next sporting event was the volley tournament of BIM last december. It was filled with nail biting moments, fun, comic moments, memorable fight-backs, and some of beautiful gameplay ever witnessed by BIMITES. It started with a great spelendour and ended with a fitting finale. As usual students formed teams with unique names with a funny touch and 12 teams fought for the title of the best vollyball team of BIM. At last It was Dark knights, who came out as the best and were crowned as the champions of 09.
BIM is witness to a host of events testing the students application of concepts learnt in class as well their awareness of events in the corporate world.

Finance events like KSHAAN, SHAREGURU and FINUTSAV are some such events conducted by the FINCLUB. Shareguru which was conducted on a national level last november, witnessed participation from students and corporates alike with the students triumphing and showing their readiness to rule the stock market. Kshaan, conducted in december, totally focused on equity research as it involved the students over a week to come up with detailed reports and predictions-thus these events ensure that along with their studies, students at BIM get exposed to real world issues and competition and learn to perform under pressure and take decisions under changing circumstances. Finutsav the flagship finance event is a comprehensive test of the students abilities to apply skills in conjunction with seniors and take decisions under time pressure and peer competition.Finutsav is slated to be held next week πŸ˜ƒ

When finclub and sportscomm are so active can BISMARC the marketing club be left behind??
MARWAR, the flagship event of bismarc is held in he beginning of every academic year. This 1 week event involves design of a product along with itscomplete integrated marketing strategy.MARCETHLON is the next awaited event from bismarc.Slated to begin today it conists of a plethora of events lik addiction, quizzes etc

Joined a week late on 12th and found I had missed a couple of quizzes and a lot of assignments. Was on leave today and missed a presentation. Thankfully with saturday class cancelled, it's going to be a long weekend which I will use to play catch-up.

Wonder why everyone is so silent here even though there is so much to write about.

@BIM27 / BIM26,

Please keep this thread alive. This is the best interface we have to know the campus jottings.

Committee selection interviews concluded the day before. Results are expected to be out tonight though news coming from the grapevine is that they will be declared only after two days.

In the meantime, there was a Treasure Hunt event this morning. The seniors spared noone when they splashed water on anyone who passed by the men's warden room in search of clues. Mr. & Miss BIM is going to happen tonight.

Can't believe one month has flown past. Mid-term exams from 11th to 18th with a sole holiday on 15th. In progress is the pre-midterms, a one hour exam that has been brought into the curriculum from this year. Had objective type MSM test today. No tests tomorrow, Fundamentals of Mgmt pre-MT on Thursday and OB-I and Marketing pre-MTs on Friday. All three are expected to be case studies/group activities.

I am now beginning to learn how to utilise all 24 hours of the day.

well i'm back after an hiatus.... the coll started off well with good gyans from each proff...... their talent and commitement need special mentioning.... not like engg proff !

had to read so much.... almost 200 to 300 pages each in all the 7 ( subjects just for this mid term exam ,starting on 11th Aug,2010.....

and I haven't touched any book yet...

and the fun part,we had freshers party last nite..... 07-Aug-10 as mentioned by shekar..... was fully of frolic fun.... enjoyed the dance party at the end of the show to the core !!!

and i forgot to tell one thing.... it's about mess food.... WONDERFUL. as swetha mentioned earlier,we will be put on weight atleast 10Kgs at the end of 2 years !!

have to open my books ,now.....

will come back and post whenever possible.....

Friday's Financial Accounting & Performance Analysis class was exciting with games of Monopoly and Life being played in the class. We were required to note down all the transactions and we have just got a mail from the prof saying we need to prepare the journal, ledger and trial balance statements for those transactions and submit them tomorrow. So all those returning from their 2-day "vacations" (myself included) have their task cut out for tomorrow. Perfect way to remind us that we are in a B-school and not in an IT company when half a Monday would be spent to overcome travel lag.

Hi, just read the summer placement report of BIM. If you see there, a company called Novellsys Technologies is mentioned. I was working there when these 3 guys from BIM had come for their project. Had an awesome time with them. 3 months went in a jiffy. Even i am a MBA aspirant and BIM is in top 5 of my priority list.Lets see how things shape out in future.

Had a special lecture by Prof S Ramanathan from IIMB on Information Systems in Management. A very insightful one with lots of examples from the industry. He added a generous dose of humour as well. Looking forward to the second part of his lecture scheduled for tomorrow.

Hi.. guys... late to chip in... hope to be a regular now on....... life at bim is cool(when u dont have work!!) .. the key is having the rite kinda groupmates(Hope they ain't readin this) !!!

The atmosphere here is really different from ur stereotype B.school.....

signin off now.. have an OB exam tomorrow.. 5 chapters n starting at zero!!!!!

While MSM was kind of an extension of engineering exams (involving problem solving using calculators et al), Marketing was part-engg,part mgmt with its blend of theory based questions and a case study. But it was OB which made us use our brains to the fullest. The kind of questions that were asked seemed to say "Welcome to MBA".

Some committees are working amidst the exams to kick off various events lined up post the mid term exams.
