LIFE@ FORE School Of Management

Ok, this thinkanshuman from the FMG20 batch [2011-13] reporting! For me it has been a swift and hectic journey till now. With the plethora of choices available even in terms of good b schools, I think the first management lesson a student gets is making a definitive choice for a great b school. And finally deciding for Fore required great deal of calls, research and first hand experience. Well, I am going to share the requisite details post by post.

I think if you are reading this, you must be either intending to make it to Fore, must be a part of Fore or a pass-out of Fore. And I truly believe that, when I mention the brand Fore, it inspires trust and faith in all of us, primarily because of its more than 15 years of legacy and the kind of experience we've had. Such is the brand! Among top 5 b schools in Delhi since the days of its inception, you get a clear idea why the brand Fore, holds fort amongst plethora of changes happening all around in the sector.

As for the experience till now, our academic schedule began with the traditional orientation classes to equip us with the basics of all the major subjects to be covered in the coming two years. I think the teachers did a fantastic job of setting up a framework in our mind as to what we should expect in the coming academic sessions. The most fascinating thing was looking up into the faculty profile of the teacher for the day. Just to see that the teacher was 'falana, falana of falana' [ Read 35 years teaching xpnc, PhD/MBA, USA/IIMs ] .. is just amazing. :w00t: It feels wonderful and responsible to be under the guidance of faculty who've been in the industry for such a long time that even an ounce of appropriate wisdom raises your thinking level to a great deal.

One of the best parts of this almost two weeks journey till now was the Entrepreneurship workshop arranged by CED this week. The panel comprised of Delhi chiefs of National Entrepreneurship Network and Tie Delhi + Three successful entrepreneurs from FORE, XL and MDI. The theme was, 'Kick-starting Entrepreneurship on the Campus'. The workshop gave great insights into the process of entrepreneurship, and trust me, none of it you can get it on any platform other than this. There are many mental blockages attached to switching to entrepreneurship and they were discussed in great detail. It was emphasized that we start our own venture in the campus itself and our Director even promised sponsoring the venture if its persuasive.

The heat has begun for the soon to happen freshers meet. We have been allotted our Fore Mail IDs and the FB groups are buzzing like anything.

The seniors have been swift and helpful as ever, primarily to integrate and explain the processes involved in the continuation of the traditions at Fore; and that actually I think is not easy, considering the fact that we have a presence of numerous shades of grey all around 😃 Kudos to their patience and faith in the fact that what they are communicating is good for the long term. And that speaks a lot about the molding I am expected to undergo in the coming here.

I'll just quickly mention, Canteen food is just AWESOME man! The Masala Dosas are even better than the ones at Sagar Ratna.

Anyways, interactions with seniors is expected to cross another level soon with the batch meet and committee selection procedures. Will update more.

And i would like to add that MR Think_Anshuman has a lot of extra-curricular activities in his free time. with him we play Table tennis between the breaks of Lectures. sometimes with seniors we get the play with the PRO's. also Anshuman has load's of other accessories like high end mobile,PSP and gaming laptop, which we use when we are late by few Sec in some of our classes. at least we are utilizing our time;). the environment at FORE is really amicable. i have studied for 18 years in different schools and colleges but here at FORE it's a PARADISE. the seniors are very helpful and there is lot to learn from them.

and special mention about the faculty whose experience is more than 1.5X of our age. they are really the BEST in there field. the only thing which i dislike is that amount of work we get but still they are grooming us to become a manager.

Term 4 mid term exams done with...

Coming week junior batch have their first mid term exams. So they're also running around. Reminds of 1 year back when we ran around like this for our first mid term. Little do they realize that this is a routine exercise from now and the fear/apprehension in their minds is useless!!! 😁

The activity will run for 2 months and materials to be contributed may include clothes (old/new), utensils, books, stationery, curtains, bed sheets, one-sided papers, audio casettes/tapes, footwear etc

Mr. Kishan Goenka, Country Head at Pt Akraya International, CEO at SBM Swiss Business Makers GmbH, Switzerland and Director at Clean Energy India AG, Switzerland was the speaker. The topic for discussion was Supply Chain Management - Excellence through Quality and Service.

The agenda was a case study discussion on SCM at Mc Donalds. It was a very interactive session with lots of questions pouring in from the students. Overall CID team has kick started with a bang!!

FOREmotions, a video making competition by FORETech team was also conducted in last 2 weeks of July. Results are yet to be declared.

AIRCEL is on campus for few days with their brand ambassador hunt. Sprawling banners and posters are up in the campus. Further updates and details on it later once the event starts...

So thats it as of now. Be back later with more updates and news from the corridors of FORE...

Some other updates which were missed earlier because of the busy schedule:

i think ajay has left no scope to cover,
But people like me who have marktg and finance subjects had to suffer, with loads of study. Unluckily, my group was also given case ppts in finance. So extra pressure.
But now with everything over, will chillax for next one month.
Ajay placements seems to be a distant affair, and dont think anyone has started preparing for them. FORE has taught all of us one thing: Even preparing one night before D- Day we manage to get results. I think same would go with placements.
Although hope this US rating doesn't affect our placements and all of us get g8 roles & packages.

Today is one of the happiest day in Fore:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D. Today we finished our first midterm examination. This week was very hectic. Some Paper's were like horror paper's made by's. a special for mention DMM paper. Independence day is coming but we have to submit a assignment on that day ONLINE!!!! No respite . A Field trip to Mewat is being organized but was later  by another mail carrying the question's for project on this trip. now we have to study on the move. But still a ray of hope a lot of extra curricular activities are going on, it;s truly relaxing. Got to go as......
THERE is only Philosophy here
Study Hard And Party Harder!!!!

A one day Book exhibition cum Sale was organized by the library on Tuesday. About 10 leading publishers /vendors displayed their latest books for general reading, on management, and allied subjects areas of knowledge.

Tomorrow juniors have an industrial visit to Mewat as part of their Marketing Management Assignment.

Other than that it will be a busy 2 weeks ahead now. We have classes even on Sunday..and that too early morning at 9AM!! So its a pretty long week ahead. And it gets better with almost all project submissions, assignments, quiz and PPT's lined up before end term starts on September 2nd. Its gonna be a grand : to HELL!!

College has been a sea of black business suits and the blue FORE tie since past 3-4 days. Photo shoots, group as well as individual profile pics for the brochure being clicked.

Classes ever more hectic, especially for us in 2nd year. Its continuous classes since last Tuesday i.e. 16th August till next Sunday i.e. 28th August including Saturdays and Sundays!!!!!

Assignments, projects and presentations also looming up over the last 2 weeks of classes this trimester. 2nd September end term exam starts!!

After FOREmotions, a video making competition, FORETech is back with its next event QFactor an online quiz series.

Cricket tournament Super 8 by FSD, ended almost 2 weeks back with the best team Blackberry Boys emerging the winner, defeating Old Boyz. Waiting now for the football tournament after the end of current term for both batches, which will be tentatively 3rd week of September.

After a hectic 2 weeks, classes for this trimester almost coming to and end. Few more classes tomorrow and day after tomorrow and then its end term exams from Friday.

Last few sessions involving project presentations and report submissions going on.

End term exams!!
Quite unlike 1st year (where we had 8 exams in 4 days) I'm finding time to visit PG, FB etc because the exams are spread out over 2 weeks.

Still everything else has come to a standstill. Everyone running around cramming their heads with "knowledge" never acquired over the last 3 months of classes!!

Finally after 2 long weeks exams got over yesterday! But next trimester classes starting today. No break. Guess they havent heard the saying "All work and no play makes Jack a bull and lazy boy"!! Guess no use saying anything about it. It is like that.

Anyways 2/3rd MBA completed!

5 more months to go. Placement fever is going to set in within a week or two. We have mock interviews scheduled for the next few days. So will be busy with that.

Abhi toh fultoo masti chalega. The whole batch is getting along better these days. Planning outings and trips for the coming weekends!! Reminds me of graduation days. Abhi bas waise hi hone lag raha hai aur course hi khatam ho raha hai chand mahinon mein.. 😞 😞 Phir kya pata kaun, kahan, kaise? Will have to wait and see.

Hopefully classes will be bit more lighter this trimester because placements also have to run in parallel. Only 6 papers this time (compared to 7,8,10 and 8 we had in last 4 trimesters)

Nothing else important happening in college. Be back with more updates later.

@ajai...i wonder hw u ppl used to manage...mannn im going so damn crazy!!!! but im relevd..just two days n m done wd majority of dem...dats d best part of it 😃

Back to the normal schedule and grind of daily life??
NO. Back to engineering days. Its boring. With just 1-2 classes in a day and all friends with different electives, there is no hanging out...rarely get to see each other as some have no classes for 2-3 days on a stretch!!
So its just sleeping, sleeping and sleeping..

And yeah the preparation for placements is also going on in parallel. Hope both don't get merged together and I wont end up preparing to sleep always!!!

New term has not started in full swing, but definitely it is lighter than previous ones owing to the fact that we have placements also happening.

News about college happenings...
Juniors are done with their first trimester. Summer internship process has started for them with the first company coming yesterday. Memories of this day last year..

FORETech team is into its series of quizzes with QFactor 1.0 and QFactor 2.0 (Sports related) being huge success. They're back with QFactor 3.0 on 26th September.

FORE Sports and Cultural Division (FSD) in coordination with SPIC MACAY is organizing a cultural event/programme on Tuesday, 27th September, 2011. Renowned Bharatnatyam artist Lavanya Ananth will be performing in the auditorium.

Jubilate '11 the annual alumni meet organized by FORE Alumni Network (FAN) will be held on Saturday, 24th September 2011.

As exams are over now and it's a welcome break from the exams, other committees to follow suit with their activities/events/competitions.
For the time being..Adiyos amigos!!

This thread is not for queries. Its for sharing about life and happenings here at FORE. At least spare this thread!!

Quite a lot of happenings missed out.

Placements have started so been busy with that.

FSD team had organized an event in association with SPICMACAY on Tuesday, 27th September 2011, where Ms. Lavanya Ananth the renowned Bharathnatyam artist performed in college enthralling the crowd with her steps and expressions. I got an opportunity to dance 2 steps with her on stage, when she called for volunteers!!!

FSD team has also kick started Kick IT the football tournament 3 days ago on Monday, 10th October 2011. 8 teams (one from each section) battling it out for the coveted title of the football champions at FORE.

Team ANTAR, the committee I am coordinator for organized AASHAYEIN - Celebration of a child on Sunday, 9th October, 2011. We spent one day with children at DMRC Arman shelter home, near Teez Hazari metro station, managed by SALAAM BAALAK TRUST. The team along with around 25 volunteers spent a day organizing various competitions like painting, face painting, paper dance, interactive quiz, tambola, cricket, Table Tennis etc. and also trying to motivate them to go to school and educate themselves.

CID team organized the HR Conclave on Monday, 10th October, 2011 where HR Experts from renowned companies came together to acquaint the students with the realities of the corporate world. The speakers included eminent guests like Mr. Mohit Kumar, AP HR, Idea Cellular Ltd., Mr. Deepak Bharara, Director Corporate HR, Lanco Infratech Ltd., and Mr. Indrajit Sen, HR Consultant, Mistral Solutions Pvt Ltd. and the topic for discussion was Turning Sustainability from challenge to opportunity.

FORETech team is in action over the past couple of weeks with their intra college series of quizzes QFactor. QFactor 5.0 was held yesterday and results are awaited.

CED team had organized the 2nd and final round of Eureka, an idea generation competition on Friday, 30th September 2011 where 10 teams presented their ideas in front of Mr. Pravin Rajpal, who was the judge for the event.

Guess thats all. Be back with more updates later and also will try to update more regularly from now on.

Kick It! organized by FSD has come to an end with section A in junior batch taking the coveted title of the winning team!!

Final placements and summer placements are on full swing in the campus. Almost everyday there is some company or the other visiting the campus.

Mid term exams of 2nd trimester have started for junior batch! For senior batch 5th term mid term exams are staggered and few of them are over. Mine are yet to start!! 😞 😞

Its that time of the year when FORE now spreads in arms across India, embracing and inviting participants to its annual management and cultural fete GENESIS '11. Its on 11-12 November 2011.

All major updates about GENESIS '11 as of now. Website, FB page, Blog, Twitter...
Q Factor 6.0 by FORETech team is done!! Leaderboards have been reshuffled yet again...

This is becoming a big hype and legacy now in campus..Now every 2nd and 4th Sunday in a month, one cannot think of sleeping without attempting Q Factor!!

I think one of the biggest value addition that one can gain in a b-school is listening to people who've been-there-and-done that. The college gave us students a great opportunity by opening up the recent MDP on 'Corporate Excellence Through HR Interventions' for the college students too

It was great to be in presence of the industry leaders with an experience of more than 30 + years from companies like NTPC, BHEL, Lanco, Birlasoft, GMR, Pizza Hut. The insights given by the GM HRs was vision enhancing to say the least. The opportunity to interact with them personally during lunch and tea break with great food added the icing on the cake. Aligned with our Director's vision - opening up of plethora of new platforms looks like increasing the breadth of all the tremendous growth we are already experiencing at FORE

The last phase of "Emm Bee Yeah" knocking at our doors!!

Its just a few months more and then we'll be out into that savage world called "Corporate" where "Survival of the fittest" stands true!!

Exams are on for the penultimate trimester. Immediately following it juniors will be having their 2nd trimester exams. Everyone running around with placements, seniors for their career and juniors for their first glimpse of corporate through summer internships!!

Coming to activities in the campus..

Team ANTAR organized Sanrakshan - Plant for the Planet, on Saturday, 3rd Dec. FOREians went out with a mission to save planet earth in what little ways possible. Around 20 institutes and 45 saplings planted! That sums it up! There was also a Photography competition and Great Green Idea contest running in parallel with this event. The results of both are yet to be announced.

FSD organized, Carve (TT Championship) and Blitzkrieg (Chess tournament). After some exciting rounds and victories (heartbreak for others) the champions in Carve and Blitzkrieg were found out.
