Hi

This thread for sharing the experiences of students talking about life at FORE School of Management. For admission related queries, you can go to this thread.

The Selection Process begins for FORE. Curious and anxious faces could be seen in the campus. Seniors remembering the time when they were faced with the same situation. Its same every year. And the delight of making it through is equally enticing. FORE Connect team working hard to welcome the aspirants the best way they can. :

Last month saw the passing out of the 2010-2012 batch. The Farewell was fun-filled + full of nostalgia bringing all the memories afresh into the minds of the seniors.

SIG Marketing started with its AD Ka Baap marketing competition which involved making print, radio and tv ads. A great exploration of creativity for many.

FORE Premier League, the annual alumni cricket match conducted by the FORE Alumni Network brought together the alumni and the current students of the college for a fun-filled cricket match.

FORE awaits the Entrepreneurship Week by Center for Entrepreneurship Development to bring out the best of the entrepreneurial skills among the students.

Assignments/Projects/Quizzes and Exams have become an integral part of the current batch and almost a routine. And that still remains the essence of the MBA life. More on it soon ! 😃

7 end term exams in consecutive 4 days and now finally it is stumps for the first year of MBA!

Time is flowing so fast. 2 weeks back we were running to finish all our end term projects, presentations, etc. Then came the important time to choose our specialisations and the subjects for the coming year. (The system of having a dual specialisation really looks promising) Few days later, we are half MBAs.

After this weekend it is time for our summer internships to start. Just like many others mine is also starting from 2nd April (the best day of the year, to me) Really excited about experiencing office life for the first time! For the next 2 months I'll really miss all that everyday fun and masti we do at FORE.

The results of the upcoming batch are expected by the 2nd week of April. I can only imagine how free and worried I was last year. Wish if I could do all that vellapanti I did last year (without the tension of results off course)! Looking forward to meet an awesome bunch of juniors after the college re-opens. Our classes will start a week before they join so we have already started making some plans of what we'll be doing to welcome them.

And what about the juniors? No one here in PG to post about LifeatFORE here? This thread has been dead for so much time now. It can be 1-liners, 2-liners...But keep posting about what's happening in campus. Its good to hear.

Oh boy this thread has been dead for such a LONG time. But now that we are back, we will keep it updated as now we can very well imagine how badly we're going to miss this life after a few months.

So much has happened in the last 3 months ~ Tournaments for Cricket, Chess, CS, Entreprenuership workshops, Anubhuti Sessions, Marketing and HR competitions, our very own Q-Factor, LitQuest etc, and not to forget, The Freshers' Party. Apologies for the events that I've missed out. On top of all that, the seniors had classes 7 days a week, from 9am to 9.30pm. But it was all fun as we were in the campus almost all the time.

Now while we are enjoying the weekend, juniors are griding hard for their first set of end-term exams. Soon they would realise that this is just a routine exercise and they can't relive that feeling of appearing in annual/semester exams.

We are looking forward to the upcoming placement season but at the moment, there is some excitement for the arrival of Padma Shri winners, internationally renowned classical singers, The Gundecha Brothers. Last we witnessed the brilliance of Grammy winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt so we have an idea what we can expect from such greats.

We are done with 25% of the most important trimester of our MBA and majority of seniors can be seem running around tensed, carrying newspapers, going through journals etc in the library. Yes, the placement week is coming up. Now there is a valid reason to give less importance to studies and yet have a guilty-free conscience.

Juniors are also done with their first term so now it is time for events, workshops, seminars to go on, not to forget the never ending meetings. This is the real fun time which won't come again..less than 5 months to go for us.
Life passes by pretty fast in a B school and it is hard to tell where the past three months have exactly gone. From assignments to presentations to exams to events, every day in these few months has presented a new set of challenges.

The first trimester has ended and there is no time to glorify our achievement of surviving these three months . The second trimester has also begun and with that has begun the race towards summer internships and live projects. Students in smart business suits have become a common picture on the campus and the frequent chai at the dhabas outside the college has transformed into fierce debates on latest economic issues.

Amidst all this hustle bustle, one thing that every student at FORE has been waiting for is the annual festival GENESIS. The preparations have started in full swing and the student council members can be seen holding meetings and planning for the events till late in the night.

Center for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) has come up with its idea generation competition KREATE which will be followed by its B plan competition in GENESIS.

ANTAR has come up with its annual drive of tree plantation and students are looking forward to contribute their bit towards a greener environment.

FORE Sports and Cultural Division (FSD) organized a SPIC MACAY session with renowned classical singers The Gundecha Brothers. It acted as a perfect stress buster for the students and re-energized them to take a fresh look at the world around them.

The next few weeks will be pretty hectic and the battle for sleep will continue.

Got up on a Sunday morning realizing that I have been attending classes 7 days a week with a schedule which can make many stay away from MBA, for a long time. I do not know how I would be able to level down to a much more relieved schedule when I'll become a manager. This is what a good B-school does to you. Working for more than 12 hours a day has become a habit. And we now realize the importance of Friday nights. But what adds to it - a class till 9.30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays which makes parties even more worthy.

I sometimes pull out my cellphone during lectures and somehow my fingers move to the 'Calender' section. Just 5 months left before I'll bid goodbye to a place which has made me worthy, which has increased my value, which has made me understand what business is, which has opened my mind to think big, and most importantly - which has made me manage time.
FORE School of Management, New Delhi has not just been an Institute of Management, but an Institute of CHANGE!

This Term seems to fly at the speed of light? is it 3*10^8 m/s or is it 299792458 m/s? MBA teaches us to ignore what is not relevant, and pay attention to those things which lead to high ROI. But there are somethings in which one must not think about the gains or losses, sometimes it is better to lose to be able to learn. CAPSTONE is one subject which has taught me this. Online business simulation has helped me realize the way a business needs to be run to earn profit. And it is in this subject that I can learn by making mistakes in the virtual world. & mind you, the others are very competitive!

I know, this term would be equally enriching as the earlier ones have, and I have no doubt, that with this term too, i'll learn to lose, to lose and to get up, to get up and to work hard, and to work hard to win! 😃
Life has been fun, and this life will become out of bounds in the next 5-6 months when I will bid farewell to a fine chapter of my life - FORE School of Management, New Delhi

Got the GPA for the last term. And it surprises me each time when I stand with the other to have a glance at the grades and the final cgpa. Our seniors said that cgpa would never matter. Just try and maintain a decent one and you will sail through easily. But still, why do I find students calculating their aggregates even before the results come, why do I see them guessing their grades even before they sit for the final exams. I think competition has become a part of our DNA. Be it in CAT, or GD-PI, or exams or the placements. While we have been competing more or less with a general crowd till now, we start to compete with better people in MBA. We compete with all those who have come with a dream, who have the passion to defeat the mightiest and the zeal to learn to be able to make a BIG name.

While my cgpa has surprised me, the CGPAs of many others' have surprised me even more. I know, CHANGE is a part of life, and hence I think its time to change gears at FORE School of Management, New Delhi.
@dhruvbansal1, @Sambuca, @think_anshuman, @taran.bhasin, @AkshayTyagi2011 What's happening with Life @ the campus? 😃

The life at campus is super fast and busy with placement process and exams in between lectures. Time is flying by and only those who have been lucky to get placed have the peace of mind. Preparations for THE event - GENESIS'12 are going on at full pace with committee meetings, coordinating with everyone. A lot of efforts are being put in by everyone to make it even bigger and better this year.

A little over 3 months is all that is left for us in 'MBA life'. All those tight deadlines, last minute preparation of PPTs have taught us enough flexibility and adaptability to not just work but also do well in any situation. So while we all are anxious of getting into the right place and profile, there is an air of optimism that we are on the verge of exploring new and exciting avenues. No doubt that a job after MBA would be tough but we know that by now FORE has prepared us well enough to take up those challenges and succeed.

@lovikajain, @jain.swati, @AkshayTyagi2011, @taran.bhasin What's happening in the campus? :mg:
Maddening yet intellectually stimulating. That can be an apt description of Life@FORE currently. The first years have by now got used to the demanding schedules @ FORE and not much psychological introspection is needed to analyse the difference we all feel in us when compared to the day when we started our journey here.
Despite the winter chills, the campus is simmering with energy and spirit. The vigour experienced at the campus during the Annual Fest Genensis'2012 was furthered when FORE organised an International Conference on Business Sustainability for the first time in history of the institute. The Conference convened at PHD House saw active participation by the students both in terms of being volunteers and also in presenting an active audience to the delegates from across the globe.
Exams being in a week from now and it's time for books and last minute notes. For some, it would be a chance to showcase their preparation while for others it would be an uphill task to finish the never ending course. Nevertheless, we all look forward to bid the 2nd trimester farewell and welcome the 3rd term in the fresh new year with new challenges, new learnings and new experiences.

So finally into the last innings of MBA and life has never been more dramatic or more nostalgic. Some common sites/ topics of discussion relate to how people get emotional after getting placed, recalling all the successful and failed attempts at sleeping in the class, how we met each other and what were our first impressions, remembering all those play-CS-till-your-eyes-drop nights in the hostel, etc.

With about 6 weeks to go, there is a sense of satisfaction that we've gained quite a lot from this MBA experience and the good thing is that we look for value addition from whatever electives we've chosen and not just merely passing time halfheartedly. There is no doubt the FORE Experience has been pretty awesome in many senses, yet we are looking forward to having some more memorable moments in these remaining weeks of our student lives.
