Grand Alumni Meet:
What a meet it was.... after a super hectic week, we had 2 full days without any lecture, quiz, submission, game etc etc. Thought would fill backlog of sleep in these 2 days... n I m glad that I didn't.
Well people, if any posts on this thread are of any evidence of 'Spirit' of GIM.. imagine wht it would be when multiple generations of GIMites come together...
First of all... Hats off to Alumni committee for organising such a fabulous event, though I guess this has become a practice now to GIM students
Rest of two days... were damn good....
Whole campus was filled with cars n more cars... it was sorta desirable inconvenience considering the intellect they carried.... Thn it all started.. A smile here and a hello there... n you are on... You get to hear wht GIM stands for.. .complete unbiased view on anything. . right from faculty to work to GIM everything... This informal interaction was the single biggest success (In my opinion) of this event.... Then there was more...
Impromptu performances in cultural evening by 'Super Seniors' i.e . Seniors who have passed out. Back to their shaking roots at 'On the Rocks' Pub... in alumni nite party... the basanti cup cricket tournaments on sunday...All of it was more fun than formal.... added to this the 'truth ' counsellings cum interactive sessions on various streams of management.. though one felt that the time allocated to it could have been more...
All in all.. This event certainly brought lump in the throat of our seniors... Next year they won't be here.. they knew it... we knew it... teased them but you couldn't help feeling for them...
So that was it.. the GRAND alumni meet...

it was preparations yesterday n memories today......the alumni meet came n went by ........why do happy times fly so soon...???
it was a very interactive session..giving a clear picture of where we stand in the corporate world n where we r heading.
the best part was we had all the formal talks n discussions in the most informal way............hopes multiplied tenfold after the meet.
u cud say it was loads of fun without losing the essence of the event.
all i will add is looking at our alumni , it feels so proud to b a part of the organization.

Hi ,
Finally its time to take stock of my life , after the hectic alumni meet, so many calls made , so many people mailed .. phew .. it was a communication mega exercise :)
It was time to catch up on some good tight sleep ..
Its action time now , having interacted with so many alumni, I have got a clear understanding of what should I be doing , to get my dream job . I admit that the time for the alumni student interaction was less , as we fell behind schedule in a few events...
We have taken many learnings from the alumni meet , and will make sure that the next alumni meet has maximum time devoted to this .

Darshika you nearly moved the alumni to tears with your lovely poem about life@gim , it would be great if you could post it here also
Hi all,
wana just tell about GIM as i saw the building in last month on a trip to goa.location wise its like anything.situauted on the old goa road it overlooks the river and the environmet is ver good.not uch after that but preparing very hard to get into some good b school this time after 2 year of work ex.
Goa Institute of Management takes a lot of effort to interact with the alumni and to get them involved in the way the Institute is run, be it suggestions for improvement in syllabus, Lectures, Mentorship program etc.
An alumni faculty interaction of different streams viz. Marketing, Finance, Operations, HR was organized which saw many suggestions regarding change in courses coming in. Most of the suggestions were on the lines of the changes happening in the Industry.
An alumni current student interaction of different streams helped students gain a perspective of how the industry functions , what are the different job profiles , what job profiles are the most attractive , what should one be reading , what Industries should one target. Many doubts and apprehensions and myths were removed. The students made the best use of this interaction.
From its modest beginnings in 1993, to being counted in one of the best B-Schools in India today. Goa Institute of Management has come a long way in it's14 years ofexistence. All this has been possible because of the dedication of its faculty, students, administration and more importantly the Alumni.
The meet started by the address of the Director Prof. Ranjan Ghosh, who emphasized the high stress on quality of education that GIM has been maintaining, and gave the alumni a perspective of the developments being done at GIM.
One could find the alumni, some of them belonging to the very first batch, exploring the campus, getting to meet the teachers who taught them then. They reminisced, how different GIM was in those days, when they used to have Black Boards and OHP, now the campus has air-conditioned classes and the state of art technology at its disposal.
The Dean Prof C.M Ramesh , held an interactive session with the alumni in his unique way , which the alumni love, some issues were raised and addressed , the long term goal of the Institute and what the Institute is doing to achieve them were also shared.
Prof Mirchandani who is known for his teaching methodology based on case studies, had in fact a small case discussion which was an instant hit with the alumni, who couldnt believe their luck that they could ever discuss a case in his class again.
Later In the day a cultural program was organized which was full of dance, music and fun, with even the faculty singing when asked by the students. The alumni also participated, with many of them singing and performing a dance sequence. A poem rendition about life@GIM had the alumni on the brink of tears. The icing on the cake was the new GIM song, which had the alumni on their feet.
The morning next, saw current students, faculty and alumni coming together for a cricket match. The match was cheered all along by the current students.
Like all good things, the reunion had to end too, the alumni were all praise for the Alumni Committee for bringing them all together again, and renewed their promise to GIM.
We look forward to having you again on campus next year
Thngs are moving a really gr8 pace at GIM
Actually we feel tht 24 hrs are bit less in a day
There is always a pile of assignments to be submitted
Also end terms are scheduled on 11th to 13th September
and Then We Will Be Free !

Also recently we had Dr Claude Alvares Talk under the ageis of Ribandar Talks
He tlaked on whether todays managers are good environmentalist
He gav insights into wht needs to be done to preserve environment
Inshort .... hectic days ahead
I do agree to u.. the environment is amazing.... however i would like to take it up from there to say that the envionment inside the institute is equally good. You have some amazing minds who work.... even with a truck load of assignmets we find time to do something more than the accads. We watch an international film every friday and have recently turned designers to design our 'Mecca' (marketing club) Tshirt!!!!
Life Rocks here..!!!!!!!!!!
We finally completed Managerial Statistics.
After long nights when we were all burning our mid night lamps, we have finally overcome the MS mania.
We completed our End term paper for MS today and i m sure all of us have heaved a sign... we can relax as the next two weeks are a roller coster ride.
But as they say... the time flies by and we will all be heading home in 13 days from now....
From all the PGP 1's in GIM... i guess all we want to say is ......
March on ... to victory...March on to triumph and march on ... with good home cooked meal in sight.....LOL...
Thats all for now...
Njoy!

Still basking in the scintillating experience known as "Samriddhi"
Chk it here... Samriddhi-Financing India's Development
ppls, its been fabulous experience... to work along with our seniors.. to see their skills in organising such a grand scale event... Being a part of it gives so much pleasure.. and satisfaction that whtver our minimal contribution was.. it was valued greatly...and thanked profusely...
It was finance conference, which was held this weekend.. samriddhi - financing India's development was the theme. We has some awesome speakers and engaging audience. Add to that brilliant papers presented by IIML, IIFT and IIMA students. IIM A was the final winner but all of them were very close. Overall, 2 days came n went n we suddenly feel light... load is off our back,, but this time it is not so welcome feeling.. it was such a great fun working for it...
But we dnt hav time to miss it... Now's the time for putting our heads down for studies... as our end term starts Tomm... already feelin inadequate abt prep.. but exam to dena hee hai...
So, all the best to all PGP1's... we rocked samriddhi.. ( with the blessings of our seniors offcourse.. ) nws the time to rock exam hall...
more abt it laterz.. nw gotta go to sleep for tomm's paper of "Managing legal risk"...
days are so much happening here.. dnt get time to post... regularly... well nt for me as me nt a frequent poster but for others... pardon thm.. n me also.
ciao....
Well said Parag!!!
For us PGP1's I guess, its just one long, long, long day!!!!
With a week full of assignments, presentations and quizzes to worry about. Then two hard but fruitful days of Samridhi and then before we could take a deep breath wait a bit, we are all set to run another few miles. All tired, dirty and desperate for rest, but still that determination and confidence that we will all run to the other side of the finishing line!
The prize is not a trophy, not a medal, nor will we get any accolades, but it is the valuable gift of meeting our families, meeting our friends and eating the delicious food cooked my our dear mom's!
Its a roller coaster ride will take a break on the 13th to resume again on the 1st of october. One of the best days of my life continue.
until next time...

Hi guys ,
Its been quite a few days , sinc ewe landed up here ..we had some preperatory quant classes .. and then we had our orientation classes ...
The director Prof Lima gave the welcome note , ad introduced each faculty ..Then we had individual sessions of orientations on time management , hostel, laptops , placements .. a din the end we had a presentation by saurav goyal rather our very own goyal_saurav on some project that they have in hand .. It was great to see teamwork from the very onset ...
The maturity with the seniors were handling it ... the way they were putting forward their case and expectations . made me realize what a lot I need to do to improve myself ..
Ours is a compact campus , saves us time.. with everything quite closeby ... all amenities are provided ... canteen serves excellent food , which is a rariy anyhwere .. we have representatives .. who pull up the mess guy like anything in case of any complaints .....
The only thing thats pinching me is the laptop .. it will be available by the 8th of july .. The college has finalised the HP NX6310 dual core laptop for us at 51152 rs ... 1.66ghz 512mb ram , 60gb sata harddisk, 15"screen , 512 mb pendrive , dvd combo ,6in 1 card reader , blue tooth , wireless b/g
