I'm loving it

hey guys,

I know that itz been a long time since my last post...but I cant help it folks, life is so hectic here dat posting on PG seldom figures on my To Do List..(m sorry 2 say so,but; I solemnly promise that from now on a certain amt of time will be surely denoted towards PG)..nyways, nt drifting from what I have to say....we had our Ice Breaking Session a few days back. Basically, the aim of the sesssion is to thin down the umpteen foot of polar ice that has magically been formed between the PGP1s and PGP2s...

I had heard a lot about the apprehensions that people carry when they go to a B school. Yours truly was one of them(I m being sincere enough here), to come with such apprehensions, but believe me guys, the people over here...I mean the staff and especially the pgp2s have literally made us feel at home...I was actually stunned to see them being so friendly with us, to the extent that whenever you meet any PGP2 during the class hours, they will actually stop by and ask you how's your day goin n so on......such is the culture of the institute GIM......

Ok, comin to the ice breaking session...actually speaking, it ws more of a talent hunt, coz we discovered so many hidden talents amongst us PGP1s..Basically, we wrer to enact the advertisement of a product given to us in a creative manner and some of the ad's were so funny that people actually started rollling with laughterand some laughed so much dat tears started flowing from their eyes....

And one such act was put up by Yours truly & co., for which our group won many accolades..(no, m not exagerrating here..m being very honest and modest..LOL) and it so happened that in the end we managed to build up so much warmth between the PGP 1's&2's , that never again will we allow that stupid layer of ice to form betwwen us...!

P.S. The case studies are in full swing, for your information..and by the way...i ..hmm..cough cough...umm..sort of messed up....ahem..ahem......my surprise quiz 2day....:(....

So long..
Regards

its been quite a packed schedule for the past few days,

Yea, as Nitin mentioned past few days have been quite hectic with Assignments, surprise quizes, readings bombarding us from all sides.!!:nono:

Yet, we have had quite a fun time interacting with the PGP2's. The ice breaking sessions were really fantastic, allowing each of us to explore our creative best. Some of the Ads were really hillarious. Thanks to the PGP2's for those wonderful sessions.:cheerio:

Sunday when we did have time, some of us managed to make a trip to Fort Chapora , Anjuna and the Baga beach.Had some memorable moments there, especially the trip to Chapora, with the rains about to blow you away and the breaththaking view of the Arabian Sea from up the fort.!!

Yesterday and the day before the various clubs introduced themselves, highlighting their events with some wonderfully crafted intro videos. And all the PGP1's would now be vying for the coveted title of JCC's(Junior core committee members).

Also Friday would be the mid summers night, with each of us having to display our 'talents' followed by the freshers party on Sunday..So seems like an exciting week ahead of us !!.

hi everybody............

my first post after a very long time............

so as everybody has already written about the introductory days and classes i wont be repeating it...........

I will start from the midsummernight that we are going to have on friday...
It is the unofficial freshers party in which each and everyone of the PGP1 has to participate........
then comes the interesting part every boy has to ask a senior girl out for a date and evry girl has to ask a senior boy out for a date. this was the first time i had asked a girl out so am really sorry if it was not done in the proper manner.
and yes the CS sessions till 3 in the morning....... those are really fun guys......
dont take fun as the only thing we do in GIM. The GIM people are strict and they know how to make you work. we are having a hectic schedule from the beginning itself we were given an assignment even before the actual classes started..........

So people(I think) am ready for a fun filled roller coaster in the next two years.........

and last but not the least

mere apno se me milaaaaaaaaa......
padna likhna, yaari dosti,
mohabbat ka ye silsilaaaaaaaaa......"

Hey Guys ..

Greetings ...

First of all congrats for the new PGP 09-11 batch for entering the prestigious institute. You guys are going to have the two best years of your life at this wonderful place juxtaposed along the banks of picturesque river Mandovi !

I went back in time after reading the various posts. If you guys go back few pages, you will find similar posts by me. You must be feeling thrilled and excited to write about your new college and experiances ??? especially when one can boast about a huge river beside the college and free ferry rides ! :-)

One thing I can tel you guys ... make the fullest use of these two years; realize that you people are fortunate... this time wont come back... do what you have not done till date;try out new thing, even if your are wrong, dnt worry because you will be forgiven. Go snorkelling at Malvan, Water rafting at Dandelli, water sports at any beach, swimming at Campal, go trekking ( we had gone to Tambdi Surla ), make sure you guys attend the Razzie parties, have GF/BF, .... n also please make sure that the gym is utilized as well as modernized; dont want to see my fav dumbells rusted when I come down for alumni meet... ( all these apart from your studies 😉 )

People inst in Fin as maj, start thinking of taking CFA; Because by the time you guys start taking fin seriously, its too late to giv CFA. ( lot of stuff on PG is available)

ITS ON... MIDSUMMERS NIGHT!!! THAT HAPPENS TODAY!!!

Yep.. finally we are getting the freshers ... though its not official yet, that il happen on sunday, but yes, we all are waiting for Midsummers... Seniors told its a great fun filled event that we are surely gonna enjoy... I am part of a skit and the role given to be is something i dont want to do... but have to :(

Anyways, got a couple of other performances to put forward ... i hope to entertain the crowd... Will write all about how it all went...

BTW, i slept at 330 last night, and so feeling veryyyyyyyyy tired... someone gimme a bed to fall asleep on...

CIYO...
zzzzzzz........
kKaNn...

Today we had our Mid-summers night .It was simply a great show .There were some wonderful performances by my batchmates .The first name I would like to mention is Saagar , awesome performance , he danced effortlessly ,great body language great coordination ............I am running out of terminology to appreciate a perfect dance performance .
Next name ......... Yes it is Abhishek Chawla , his skit was the best among the others , he wrote the script , directed the skit and acted as well . The idea behind the script was good , supported by the good punches at the right times .All of them acted very well . There were some more good performances by Prem , Ryan , Amit ,Tarun(Mera roomate hai , naam mention nahi karunga toh gaaliyan khaunga) , Aayush ,Rahul and many more .
PGP 2's made great audiences, they also participated and showed some wonderful performances .

Each and everything has its own value and it takes some right moments to understand this .
Mid-summers night ---- When I heard about it for the first time , all my perception was -- it is only a official platform given to the PGP 2's to take our PDP sessions in a more decent way and we would be only a bunch of jokers entertaining them for that night .
But now I know how important it was --- When the mid-summers night came to an end(infact in the mid of it) I for the first time felt that actually I had left my family in my hometown just to join a bigger family here in GIM .

There was no difference in the persons sitting in that conference room , no regions were there , no academic backgrounds were there , none of those groups which we have made knowingly or unknowingly existed there , there was no difference in the PGP 1'S and PGP 2's because all of them were there enjoying the most out of those moments , enjoying the great performances by our buddies , the smile on the other faces brought a smile on my face too (even when I missed the dialogue) .I felt like all of us were laughing on the same scenes , enjoying the same songs and clapping and hooting at the same time so what is the difference -- there is no difference . All the persons sitting in that room shared something in common and without sharing a word we all knew that we have come here to become a part of a bigger family .
Where the well-being of my seniors and my batchmates was essential for me if I want to see myself satisfied , where the self became too small too make me feel happy , where each of my action would have an impact on 240 of us and now I would not only represent me as a person but it would represent the GIM .
The mid-summers night began with a song , which actually was the GIM-song and only seniors were singing that song because they knew the lyrics and the mid-summers nignt came to an end with the GIM-song , but this time even I was singing as if I knew it by heart although I never read the song actually it was those 5 hours that we shared together that made all the difference .
And know I feel like that I have found a new home .

mere apno se me milaaaaaaaaa......
padna likhna, yaari dosti,
mohabbat ka ye silsilaaaaaaaaa......"

Correction...

Song By Batch of 2008... written by Vaibhav Rampuria..

This song has achieved a cult status now... Hope to keep hearing it again and again..someplace or the other.

Never knew dat the anthem was composed by rampuria..Always thought that Anant Sandhu was solely responsible for the same...Btw, juniors, how come there are no accounts of the freshers party?? Would have thought that they would be puh-lenty of accounts regarding the same... nice to see so much enthu abt posting on this forum...helps us keep in touch wid things...have fun guys... and yeah Razz Rocks!!

Cheers

I said.. Rampuria wrote the song.. no debates on who the composer was !

By the way my roomie composes his own music
He was in the top 13 finalists of Indian Idol 2 and plays guitar like a dream

Read Aspires first post on this thread and was wondering man is there some similarity! What was your hostle room in the first year?

hey folks....

i kno dat this thread is displaying unusually low levels of activity, however I have 2 tel u guys that the pgp1s are really busy with the assignments and are hellbent on meeting the deadlines..:cheerio:..and thats exactly the reason y yours truly is posting after what seems to be ages..

I have a bagful of event narration for u and i hope that i do not conk off writing the same..:nono:..Starting with the Midsummers nite..it was a real bash, with all the classy performances by the pgp1 and the pgp2s too.It started off with us pgp1( so called as a powerhouse of talent) trhrowing up a lenghty show comprising of oscar winning plays, grammy award winning singing performances and some really enthralling dance shows. One could sense the wave of overwhelming enthusiasm and the outburst of zeal and energy that was displayed during each of the performances. It was a positive impetus that was bringing the 240 of us together. This was particularly evident all of us formed the circle and singing the GIM song in chorus. We could clearly read the joy on each of our faces. The nite continued till early morning(..such a paradox..!!!), and was ended by some of the most spectacular performances by our seniors, especialyy Sunder and his musicals on the violin. Btw, yours truly too performed a play and managed to tickle the funny bone of quite a few, after which people have actually rechristened him with the name of the character itself...(may b u wud kno it if u cme here next year...may be.....)

The party was held on sunday nite at Villa Sol. As expected we had a huge attendance. People danced till their shirt was soaked in sweat....no one was allowed to sit idle, there would always be some1 pulling you to the dance floor..however, i resisted most of the time coz i din want to harm the vision of my mates with my mithun da moves...:nono:...

And finally, we had the brainstorming Brainvista session yesterday, and beleive me guys, it was fun....loads of fun. I got 2 put my rusted brains to test after a long time and in the process i managed to win some deliciously choclaty consolation prizes. I mean, u have to give it to the founders of the club, coz, this is one of the best clubs over here. again, U ll come 2 learn more bout it if u drop in here.

Lastly, i should not forget to mention about the rains..its raining cats and dogs over here and the mandovi is in full swing..most of them do not seem to enjoy it thou, but i m sure they will start to do so wen they take a ride to the Diwar with a light drizzle kissing their faces.........

So long....till the next post

THE ADVENTURE OF THE SEX QUIZ

A post after a long hiatus....

Well guys, Quizzing is an integral part of life @ GIM....

So the other day we recieved an invite from the famous Goan Quizzing Club SEQC (pronounced SEXY) for their weekly quiz gala.

The theme of the quiz was...SEX!!!! (Youre kidding me right??? )

100% sure that this was just a marketing gimmick and the quiz would have nothing to with fornication, the GIM quizzing gang was all set to go and attend this quiz...

The directions to the secret hideout where the quiz was supposed to take place were published on the SEQC blog but it took me more than half an hour to decipher them and write it on a peice of paper.

With 80% of the gang already off,

I, armed with directions to the house, set off on an ancient but highly dependable Hero Honda CD 100 owned by one of my most trusted friends in GIM...Raghu.

I attain the cruise speed on the Ribandar causeway and I had 45 minutes to make it to the venue.

The damp rainy season wind is blowing through my hair and the sun is peeping from behind a window in the clouds....I am on top of this world..

"On a lonely lonesome highway...east of Omaha"
---Turn the page, Metallica

Weaving through the traffic...I hit the national highway 17......This road ends where lives the love of my life...but I am an animal chained to this madhouse....cant just drive on...

I keep my eyes peeled for the next landmark, The Green Park hotel...

I ride on...and on...and on...

I am now away from humanity...all I can see is the fields on both sides...and a interesting roadsign...

Mumbai ---->>

"It comes alive, and I die a little more"
--- Unknown feeling, Metallica

Soon I am homesick....l

lovesick head says...go on dude...Mumbai..

quizsick heart says...Moira or bust...

But suddenly god decided to test my mettle as raindrops the size of cadbury gems began slamming into my helmet visor and the road was nothing but a blur to me.

I stopped the bike...put on the raincoat and shot off again.

The rain intensifies....

Water seeped through the buttonholes into places I did not even know existed in my body....

and just when I am nicely wet...I ride into the sunshine..literally....

and Hellelujah!!!! Hotel Green Park....the next turn towards aldona...to the right....

I take the turn...and I am faced with the crossroads.

I rummage in my pockets for the instructions...

OHHHH FISSSSSSHHHHHHH.....

The peice of paper containing directions is now little more than a glob of gooey dogshit after rain did what it had to do to in the raincoat pocket....

I check my bag...

I have forgotten my cellphone back in OT8A....

"Search for seas of Gold...how come its got so cold..."
--- Unforgiven III, Metallica

I am now on my own in the middle of a sleepy Goa village with not a man in sight....with wahtever of teh paper was stuck in my head...

Moira Church
Football Field
CASA COELHO house..

I was the most screwed up person in a radius of 5 kilometers...

But then, more than a few people ar GIM will agree...thats the case..more often than not....

(To find out how I got outta this crap....and what happened next...watch this space....)

Its 7:45 AM

Life is very quite @ GIM. 90% junta is sleeping. U can see a few souls wandering here and there. Few are in their rooms studying for the HRM quiz. And i am Sitting out side my room and seeing the Mandovi flow in its full fury. Its been raining cats and Dogs here. And as well are the assignments. I am slowly trying to adjust to the schedule here.

ADVENTURE OF THE SEX QUIZ - Part II

CONTINUED...

Now I am standing at the road diversion from NH 17 which will supposedly take me to Moira church but I am faced with two options.

My direction sheet has already been consigned to the dustbin of history and I am stranded staring at lush green fields extending into the horizon.

I decided not give a damn about Robert Frost, and took the straight road instead of the one which banked left from the main diversion to the righ.

The road lead to Aldona...

Here I go...Turn the Page
-- Metallica, Turn the page

Aldona......Deja Vu swamped me....

Aldona Sequeira was my batchmate college....born and brought up in Bombay, she was a third generation Mumbaiite...but was forever goan at heart...

She had that typical spunk which is found in 99% of all goans...the rare exception just lives next door though...The intoxication of her smile was only matched by the soulful notes that'd flow out when she strummed the acoustic guitar...

She had every female in the vicinity reach of a hankerchief every time she played the Simon and Garfunkel's Scarborough Fair canticle on her guitar...and I'd be lying if i claimed my eyes did not well up and there wasnt a lump in the throad...it was that deep...

A huge honk by a passing truck jolted me out of my reverie and I now realised, that just like in case of Aldona.....I was now totally lost...

Time to swallow your pride and start asking around...

but to whome?

Its a sunday and Goan villages resemble post apocalyptic scenario....not a soul on the roads...

I literally have to stop my bike in front of houses...walk inside and then trouble the residents for directions....I was sure itd be a matter of time before someone would lose it and attack me for troubling their siesta..

After a few futile searches, I realise that Robert Frost was right...I actually should have taken the path less travelled than the one I took.

There is safety in this lonelyness but I cant take it anymore
--- Metallica, Unnamed Feeling
I always knew..Aldona would remain elusive...my heart cursed me for not having given a legitimate chase....my brain patted me for a decision well taken years ago...

Soon I left the debate to my brain and heart and set about finding the geographical incarnation of this lost but really fond memory of an unspoken long dead love....

I was now as thorughly lost as my mind....The entire GIM gang would have been reached by now and would be cursin me for holding them up...

The lush green fields waded past as Raghu's CD 100 gobbled up the road with an indifferent appetite...Aldona popped in and out of my head...the air was laced with the scent of freshl moist earth and everything seeemd to be at peace with mother nature....

The Goans dont market the paradise that Goa is during the rains....and I am glad....somethings are better hidden from teh onsalught of those touristy brutes...

deep down somewhere I was so glad I was lost...I didnt want to be found...but the a quiz was calling...

and few things attract me more than an enticing quiz....Aldona's S&G; canticle would have given quizzing a run for its money ut I am sure it wouldnt have won... :P

"Set sail to sea, but pulled off course, by the light of gloden treaure"
-- Metallica, Unforgiven III

And at last.....light dawned upon me in the form of the beautiful Moira Church and a the mythical football field which that riddle of a direction uploaded on the SEQC Website had talked of....

I cannot be very far away from my final destination....

I ride confidently into the village and ask around for CASA COELHO...

and once again I am met wit such blank stares as if I was invisible....

Some people ask me the name of the person I want to meet...which I dont know and they look at me as if I have come to rob Casa Coelho!!

The narrow labyrinthine country roads now seem like an uncrackable Operations Research case....

after many wrong turns and flase starts I am convinced I will never reach Casa Coelho...

suddenly...an epiphany...

I ride into a tabela, a dairy farm and ask them about the house....the doodhwala is bound to know every house in the locality...

BINGO -- Dhoodhwala proves to be my saviour..using his directions, more depndable than the GPS....I reach CASA COELHO in les than 30 seconds...

An entire caravan of beautiful modern compact cars line the quaint leafy lane leading upto the beautiful colonial style house which I am sure was built long before even my dad was born...

The sounds of silence....
--- Simon n Garfunkel

The silence is soo soothing that I am already making plans to settle down in Goa for the rest of my life...

I park Raghu's CD 100, take off my raincoat and helmet and water is dripping off my pants...

I walk up the steps and found non of the GI gang had made it yet...

It was clear they were lost worse than me...

Wall to wall carpets had been put in the living room of Casa Coelho and around 25 people sat on the ground and Mrs Venita was conducting the quiz....

To my utter amazement and sheepish horror...IT INDEED WAS A SEX QUIZ...

This was one quiz no one could blame me for losing!!!

and There I was holding a raincoat in one hand and helmet in other waering a trouser dripping water...

I was greeted by Mr Rajiv D Silva, the winner of WIZBIZ 2009 and also Brand Equity Pune and Crucible under his belt....he ia one of the most acomplished quizzers around....

he extended me the honour of being invited to come and quiz in his team...

'but I am soaking wet!!!"...I lamented...

Dont worry dude....its the Sex quiz anyway!!!

and the entire gang burst into such laughter that I thought that this day will go down in history as the day the roof of Casa Coelho was blown away!!!!!!

5 minutes into the quiz with 10 teams involved..I already began to feel that I had been coming to this quiz for the last 30 years...

The people so warm, fun loving and freindly....a high grade quiz..the heady cocnotion made for an absolutely electric atmostphere...

The GIM quiz gang hadnt turned up yet and I felt sorry for them for what theyd miss if they gave up the search for Casa Coelho...

But my team was trailing and as per Frost...I still had miles to go for my team was trailing!!!

For how the quiz was turned around and how won and waht happened after that...watch this space!!!

EPILOGUE - Aldona Sequeira later attended a reputed Belgian University on a Music scholarship. Current whereabout r unknown..

well Snape, nice read on your adventures in Goa. But personally, I felt that this should have belonged more to a blog or a thread named the adventures of Severus Snape a.k.a Abhishek Jha rather than this thread. we've kind of exchanged home turfs right now. While you are in my home town, I am here in my Powai flat staring at the neighbouring areas and the forever packed Jogeshwari Vikhroli link road . How I wish I was back in Goa, riding my bike on the free roads under the rain and sun rather than riding in the back of dingy autos or climbing into jam packed crowded trains and taking hours to cover distances that in Goa , I would have made within 15 mins...

Its been now more than a month since we all have arrived here and now this feels like home. Time flies @ GIM.

This one month has been filled with sleep killing assignments, unknown subjects, new friends, strange people, 24x7 rains, closed beaches, mid-summers night, freshers party n wat not.

But admist all this its been learning 24x7.

I have learnt how to keep myself awake in class. Study everyday. work Without sleep for more than 24 hrs.

The campus has been buzzing with a lot of activities. as already told abt the freshers n all. There was a talk by Mr. Assem Chawla under the aegis of Ribandar Talks on understanding budget. It was a very informative session and made understanding of budget easy for people like me who dont know ne thing abt finance.

On the more fun part, a new thing has come at GIM. Intranet Radio.

2 radio stations have been setup by the PGP-1 batch.
"2.15 AM.... BAJAO" & "MANDOVI BEATS - THE HEART BEAT OF GIM"

Of these the latter one is mine.

Both have been entertaining the junta throughout the night has has been a good example of Competative market.

JCC selection for various clubs are in full swing. I am eagerly waiting for MECCA selection.

B'days are being celebrated in true GIM style.

So in short life is HECTIC but FUN. With 10 cups of coffee, Midnight bike rides to Fidalgo to have doughnuts n biryani.

Signing off.

Cheers
