Life@GIM (Goa Institute of Management)

The last few days have been very hectic and the coming 2-3 weeks are going to be the most hectic weeks of the Entire MBA..

I have 14 classes scheduled in the coming 4 days. And that will mark the End of 5th Term Classes. Phew.. !!

Going ahead, End Term Exams of 5th Term is scheduled from 3rd Dec to 7th Dec.

And then, the most important phase of MBA Life - Placement Season..

Placement Week is scheduled just after the Week of End Term Exams..

Let me wish the Entire 2011-13 Batch all the best for End Term Exams and the Placement Week. I am sure that the entire batch is going to Rock..

And as expected, Placement GBM's (General Body Meeting) frequency has increased. We have place-com people showing us the Presentation of Company that they receive before companies come down to campus in the Placement Week..

Got to make a presentation now to be given tomorrow. Signing off as of now..

Our schedules seems to be more hectic.

next week we have 4 classes each day.

Supported by last class of IGP on SUNDAY :(

But this is for sure, as the end terms approaching, we can enjoy the 7 day break, after that; which includes the CHRISTMASS.

Will be glad to spend this christmass, in the best said part of the country

We have a big football ground, basketball court, TT, Badminton,
and various sports events also, going all around the year
@ishan444

As told by Swayambhar, we have a dedicated club "Prayas" which conducts various sports events throughout the year.

Like the official facebook page of GIM for all the updates --> https://www.facebook.com/gimgoa

Give me some time. I will upload some pics of the Campus including the playgrounds and sports activities going on at GIM. Stay tuned to this thread for all updates related to Life at GIM.. :)

This is the time. This is the moment. Year End. When whole of India wishes to celebrate the New Year Eve at a place closer to sandy beaches.

This tiny state called "GOA" puts all your worries to rest for a while.. :D

And I get a 2nd opportunity to celebrate the Christmas Carnival and New Year Eve at Goa.. :)

Happy, Excited and Elated. Yes.. :)

Tomorrow (Infact today) will be the (is the) last day with lectures before the Term Break. And then we have one full week to explore all corners of Goa..

The 1st Yr Students are also done with their 2nd Term Final Exams and break starts for them as well. And there are few like me who have also decided to stay back here only during the break..

All excited for the days coming ahead. The last lap of MBA..
1 of the best new year celebration I have ever done....
Returning from term II break, I was feeling so excited as gonna celebrate new year in Goa.
Reached GIM at midnight 12 on 30th. Swayambhar , Jerry, Narang and many more were sitting in lobby of H2 and just chilling out.
Asked them what is the plan for new year and got so many kicks in return..( Still wondering why ???:-P)....
Attended 1 lecture on 31st and geared up to celebrate year end and welcome new year. 4 bikes heading towards Benaulim beach, 1 of the best place to celebrate and enjoy with friends...
Reached there in an hour and started CELEBRATING ( U know what I mean..) our evening...
Dancing , singing, shouting and celebrating put on hold at 12 midnight.....Continued celebration for whole night...Reached back at campus early morning 6. Met rest of friends on campus.... Continued celebration in campus too till afternoon 1.. Took lunch at our own cafeteria... and again started bike and left for Arambol.....
What a new year celebration....Love u friends....
Happy new year folks....

The college re-opened on 31st Dec after the Term Break for both PGP1's as well as PGP2's. And there were classes scheduled on both 31st Dec and 1st Jan.. Though that did not stop us from Celebrating New Yr our own style.. Few of us opted to go to Beaches like Baga where atmosphere was really intense with huge crowd. Few opted to go to Beaches like Vagador, Benaulim, Palolem, Arambol which was not much crowded but still there was no lack of intensity of celebrations. And few opted to celebrate it in the hostel itself..

Classes are now in full swing.. For us (PGP2's), this is the Final Term. I have chosen electives from almost every specialization i,e HR, Ops, Marketing. From Talent management to Logistics to Rural Marketing.. Though I had to choose a lot of subjects (9 in number) of so many low credit subjects. I just hope there is not much stress in this final term. But if there is stress, we have stress busters too. One party is lined up very soon by "Razmatazz Club"..

The Application Window for the coming batch of GIM 2013-15 just got over. And the trend was not different. We helped the aspirants with each and every query.. The Brand GIM seems to be getting bigger and bigger as there is yet again an increase in the number of applicants this time. Be it the Riverside located Ribandar Campus or the Campus surrounded by Hills of Sanquelim, GIM Spirit carries on..

Signing off as of now..

Damn, all these GIM posts make me want to get into GIM so bad

Hope to see you soon.

All the best for XAT/CMAT & GIM GD/PI

logged in to PG after a long time and saw this thread is really active as it was in previous years. PGP1s are doing really good job

Had been to Goa, over the weekend for a friends Wedding..

The car ride on the Causeway, with the serne Mandovi flowing so close by, triggered back so many memories of times at GIM !!

The now deserted Ribander Campus- Where OT was the centre of all Activity and Cries of CS ONNNNN echoed all night long !! HT - The place was filled with Creepy crawlies, but was the place to be for late night parties!! Morgue - this was the girls hostel during our time 😉 The best thing was it was just beside Jaggu's.. And the ever so elusive LH - every guy waited till the Diwali night , to get an entry here !!

Jaggu's & Kailash - Ever so crowded, at all points of time - You should have checked the crowd outisde Jaggus when a message popped on ur IP Messenger 'Pav Bhajii at Jaggus' or 'Custard at Kailash' !

The now closed Casa - Bustling hub of all gossip, with a Chai n Ras Omlette !!

Genes- The favorite GIM watering hole, where you would sit with your friends, enjoying a drink with your fav Tandoori chicken & Cheese Butter Garlic naan ..

The Quad - The epicenter of all Cultural & sporting activity. Just below the LH ( good place to be !!), where you could impress the ladies with ur sporting prowess ;)

F2 - placements GBM's, exams , Mid Summers, Placement PPT's , Ribander Talk- this was the palce to be for every important activity.

I can go on and on about this beautiful place, The GIM Ribander Campus !!..

There are some things in life which you will always miss, the memories of which are so special that it becomes a part of you.

GIM - Thanks for everrything !!

Though it is sad that only few days are left, Life at GIM has become exciting now. Academics is of least concern now, in the last term of the beautiful journey. You may not get to have such great time with your friends and loved ones in Goa again.

By now, you know people around the place, you have contacts with beach shack owners and car lenders, you have a two-wheeler, you stay at the hostel with minimal fee with ever inspiring friends who can give you company 24x7, you have every god damn facility that you can think of, not to mention the respect you get from the local cops and doctors when they know that you are from GIM!

The final term break has been very eventful. Though many left the campus for home, some of us stayed back. The most memorable bike trip has been with @avinashkrjha and other friends to the southern most part of Goa - Canacona which has beautiful, less crowded, white sand beaches like Palolem, Agonda, Kola etc. The most scenic one being Agonda. We reached there around 4 in the evening after swimming, chilling and 'sun-bathe'ing at Palolem. The water was sparkling when seen from a shack where I had my favorite drink Fenny+Limca. The shack also had amazing huts. We talked to the owner and got his business card for future correspondence.

Then we headed to Cabo-de-rama, a majestic fort 10 km from Agonda. It was kind of a trek and we finally reached the pinnacle - the watch tower to get a glimpse of the sunset. It was all yellowish and brownish due to the dried grass, sun rays and colour of the fort's parapet walls, and my brown sunglasses. It was a rare thing that I never experienced before. It was getting dark and it was time for us to leave the place. After a long ride, we reached Madgaon and energized ourselves with some kick-ass food and eventually reached the college.

For the new year, we had inhouse (or in hostel) party, wherein we gathered in the common room and watched the movie 300 which provided an electrifying atmosphere. We had all sorts of drinks as per the preference of participants 😉 We all cheered when the spartans mercilessly slay beasts and men. We also had philosophical conversations, we bullied each other (which happens all the time), we had infinite laughter. Exactly at 12, we were at amphi-theater (with tins of 'you-know-what'), the open air auditorium which is between the hostel and the canteen. We cheered and greeted each other. We spent good amount of time there talking, gossiping, lying there looking at the sky. Around 2:30 am, we headed back to hostel, the cheering eventually subsided and we all slept like a baby.

Speaking about the remaning 50 odd days left at GIM, we have some concrete plans to execute. Mostly spending time at beaches, having good time with friends and watching all the english series like Dexter, Suits, Weeds, GOT, etc. Looking forward to a kick-ass time during the last phase of Life @ GIM!

@transformation Ranjeeth, I see how you didn't mention about yesterday's match between first years and second years :)
@Cechmate I would have mentioned if I had played. Can't you see you have wasted a talent? 😉
@transformation I see that. I'll make amends in the next game. You better live upto the expectations now :)
