Yes
Prem Sharma from 2009-2011 batch has been selected in the final list of ET Young Leaders 2012..

Does new campus of GIM have a Gym and swimming pool?

@MBA_brat & Other Aspirants -->

Yes, there is a GYM in the college with all the equipment and other facilities :)

Swimming Pool is right now under construction and expected to be functional in few months of time :D

Apart from all this,

1. Goa Institute of Management (GIM)'s sprawling new 50-acre campus at Sanquelim in north Goa is located in an eco-friendly environment at the foothills of the Sahyadris, manifesting a pleasant and inspiring ambiance. The architecture is modern and conforms to the topography of the land.

2. All hot water is heated by solar heaters, and all water is cleaned in a sewage treatment facility and recovered in the water recovery pond with special plants and fish

3. At the campus the academic buildings have 14 air-conditioned halls of which eight are with graded seating arrangement for 60 students each and six with flexible seating for 30. Halls with LCD projectors and video conferencing facilities, including a classroom with facilities for an interactive session with faculty at a distant location. The faculty office block has 50 individual faculty offices and five conference rooms. An impressive facility for faculty, board meetings and an imposing library which operates 24x7 without the need for librarians

4. Well equipped hostels for students. The faculty accommodation consists of flats on campus. The sports facilities include an outdoor football field and jogging track, basketball, volleyball and tennis court. Indoors are badminton courts, table tennis, carrom and a gymnasium..

The Countdown has begun. Only 37 more days in the journey of becoming an MBA..

And not to forget - Admissions Process. GD/PI Shortlist is expected very soon for the Batch of "2013-15"

Feb is the most happening month here at GIM. The details will come later, but as of now, I am writing about things to do in and around Goa when you are not busy studying or motivating team members to contribute in assignments & projects. No, I am not talking about beaches here. So keep reading to discover 5 things to do in and around Goa, apart from beaches.

After spending 2 years in Goa, I have realized that your life should be full of good experiences. The experiences I am talking about are mentioned below.

1) Casinos !

Casino is a unique experience in Goa. You can spend a nice evening in Casino which provides complete entertainment package. You have F&B; on the house along with live entertainment. Depending on different days, there are various performances. Starting for Jazz and Pop, there are also Bollywood nights, Old classics night and much more. You can check the schedule on the website.

You can spend the whole night here as it is open 24x7.

2) Arpora Saturday Night Market !

Foreigners set up their stores and you are invited to take a look at them. Arpora Saturday Night market is bigger that your greatest imagination. It is so huge that to cover it fully will require two Saturdays.

You can find the best of shops which exhibit great collection. Be it accessories, foot wear, clothes or fashion stuff. You will find it here. You can also enjoy live entertainment here.

3) Fort Chapora !

The "Dil Chahta Hai Fort"! I am not taking you to a beach but a spectacular view of it. The fort is situated between Vagator Beach and Morjim Beach. The fort is a little trek and as you ascend the slope, you discover more. When you reach at the top, the view will mesmerize you and leave you spellbound.

4) Go Karting !!

Go Karting is another activity which you can do when in Goa. There are two Go Karting tracks in Goa. One is located in Verna and the other one in Arpora. The one in Verna is better. If you go to Verna, you can also go to MilSim which is basically "Paintball".

The timing is from 4 PM to 10 PM. The track remains closed on Monday.

5) River Rafting @ Dandeli

After Go Karting, if you feel that you need some more adrenaline rush, you can visit River Rafting at Dandeli. A little excursion from Goa, Dandeli is situated in Karnataka. However, it is not that far either. Dandeli is located approx 140 KMs from Panjim.

The drive to Dandeli is also good. When you reach Dandeli, there are lots of activities to do. But, river rafting is the best adventure you can do here. Please book your Rafting activity through a reliable travel agent in Dandeli well in advance. The river rafting here is quite famous and without booking, chances to get a slot are lesser.

So, these are the 5 things apart from the beaches. Hope to see you around here :)

View from the College at Night.

The Sanquelim Town and Sesa Plant at the Back.. :)
@avinashkrjha just awesome!!! But whose hut is this???
@MBA_brat

This hut was used by the Construction Company that constructed our Campus 3 Yrs Back.

Now, it is not being used by anyone. Or may be some materials might have been kept inside the hut.. :P

But the view during night is awesome from this place.. :)

This post is not about GIM Campus. This is about my mystery shopping assignments. I work as a mystery shopper with a leading mystery shopping company. This is kind of part time and whenever I have leisure time and don't feel excited about going to beaches, I take up a mystery shopping assignment. So, here it goes, a mystery shopping experience.

It was a pleasantly sunny morning and I was all geared up, ready to explore the highways of Goa. It was a date, a date with my favourite Bike. I accelerated and soon had the wind frisking my hair. The shining sun overlooked and observed me in action. It was going to be a long day, 180 Kilometres were yet to be covered!

This is not an autobiography of a Biker. This is an account of a mystery shopper who covered 180 Kilometres in a single day.

My first reaction, on receiving the call to conduct the audits was “This is impossible”. By the way, an audit is an assignment that is given by a mystery shopping company to the mystery shopper. You need to evaluate a shop and check if the guidelines laid down by the clients are followed. The clients here are of the mystery shopping company. If you want to know in detail, PM me.

So, I received these assignments (audits) and had to complete in 1 day. I realized that this was my chance to disguise myself as a “Biker”. I had to cover 180+ KMs in one day!
I reached my 1st shop after 1 hour covering 40 KMs. After completing the audit, I proceeded towards the 2nd shop. It was already lunch time and the shopkeeper was in no mood to entertain customers. I initiated my assignment by asking him the requisites. The response was not good as the shopkeeper was busy wrapping up other customers to proceed for lunch. Finally, I decided to return after half an hour.

I tried killing time and grabbed some snacks. When I returned, to my horror, the shop was closed! Yes, this is what we call the “Susegad” culture in Goa. Most of the shops remain closed from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. I kept on cursing myself for choosing a bad time. Later, I conducted the audit and also completed the subsequent audits. In total, I evaluated 6 shops by the end of day and completed my assignment. But, I had to race hard against time! Phew!

So, finally, apart from making quick bucks, I learnt an important lesson. Never go “mystery shopping” in afternoon when in Goa. You are busy shopping, but others are sleeping. Shhh !
