Quite some while since i posted on PG and my buddy theunkindmonk has been holding fort for long. So here i am after a brief break. Well its all been happening here in Great Lakes. Management fest, Research fest and a host of parties. Yes we do manage to party amidst the hectic time tables. After a rocking new year party, we had an alumni meet yday. Alumni from different parts of the contry flew in to grace the event. Man with our alumni playing key roles in the decision making process of most of the top notch organizations of the world, we arent far away from those of the best B-Schools in India. With Uncle Bala announcing some of the major additions in permanent faculty list, the details of which would be made public soon, it really turned out to be a proud day for any GreatLaker.
As we gear up for the most awaited event of the year, i.e. placements, Great Lakes looks set to take the management education in India to the next level of leadership and accomplishments.

Wht my buddy is sayin here is right..........Placement every year is indeed the biggest event for every top b school and its not gonna be any different for GL .
Also coming back to the alumni meet, those big ticket annoucements abt which Mr Non conformist hinted, is gonna rock the whole MBA scene in India :shocked:............in short these annoucement are going to be GREAT LAKES STYLE!!!!!!!!..........which basically stands for innovation , big and non-conventional

Next year's batch has a stronger probabilty of making it in new campus but lets c
Btw if u make it this year then dont sweat....... we have decent arrangements around the college where we put up and eventually the next batch is goin 2 move in there only

how do the students manage their accomodations as there is no hostel.
is the collge presently situated in urban area.. what acco. are available..like PG OR RENT OR HOSTELS...

The currect campus is located at a residential area and irrespective of hostel not being there, the accomodation is available in and around college. We are the fourth batch and every year the nw batch takes over take the palces where the previous batch was putting up. Both p.gs and hostel are available in the vicinity.
plz help.... I want to apply to GREAT LAKES on the basis of CAT-06 percentile.I had 97.9% last year with sectional percentiles( QA-97.2% , DI-88.4% and VA-95.33%). I have my Test Registration number but i have lost my CAT -06 score card. Will the registration number sufficient to apply or do we need score card for applying ?

I know i have been increasingly missing from the action but with placements lined up next week what do u expect!
The good news is that things are looking up and we are surely heading towards a stellar placement season looking at the companies line up here for our pre placement talks. As last min preparation everybody is jumping towards their text books to revisit concepts although its anybody's guess how important its gonna be:confused:. Also in a batch with such varied amount of work experience, one very important question is how to select the right profile as package and company is not gonna be everything. I am sure thats one of the many things which are going on in everybody's mind.
With lots of hope, faith and few doubts we are moving into this most important phase of the journey of MBA which we undertook.Soon will be sharing the results with you.......

U get rooms which basically vary from decent to good. As in its much better than college hostels back in engineering days. The rent varies from Rs 7k to 15k depending upon the no of rooms , food, and no of ppl stayin together. Food and living is essentially cheap in Chennai and 4-5k is what it comes down to individually whether u stay in pg or hostel.....however that figure is sans booze, parties aur wi-fi connections in rooms!;-)
Btw ur point is well noted buddy and there are such kind of decent ( read very good!) places available here, but like all good things in life they are in short supply!!!

PGDM , PGPM ( in our case ) and many such acronyms stand essentially for MBA and only college which are part of universities such as PUMBA or Delhi University will be able to award a MBA Degree. Even IIMs also provide PGDM certificates and nothing more. Hence like ISB and scores of other top grade colleges, ours is also essentially a post graduate certificate programme which will be considered as MBA by recruiters and would yield u a placement which will be much better than most of the so called MBA degrees out there.

First of all thanks for answering the query.. I can see that Glakes is already accepted by companies from its placements stats.. :smile:
But what if, i wanna do a PhD later on?? Will this program be considered as my PG? Coz, for doing a PhD, u need a PG..

I have query regarding the placements...most of the companies reqruiting are IT companies...wat kinda package they offer to a guy with 2 years of work ex...m planning as Operations and Systems as my specialization... Which specialization fetched the highest...I heard Citi grp came this year (200 .with 10 lakhs package...wat kinda of profiles they were looking for ..:whatthat:
1. This year we have a decent mix of companies lined up from all sectors and not just IT. This has been a delibrate effort from the placement cell to pull in a diverse set of companies, to match the expectation of the batch, and will certainly highlight our placements this year.
2. Package happens to be just another component of the offer as most of us are more keen to get the desired profile, sometimes even compromising on the package. However, the exact package depends on the value one brings to the table and is left to the discretion of the recruiter, depending on their requirement. Request you to check last years stats to get a fair idea of the package.
3. Citi group is lined up for placements. Interviews and final offers would materialize in the placement week. They are pretty open for the profiles and the roles would solely depend on the ability of the candidate to get it converted.
