I Am Just A Nobody Now (Episode Two)

Was it the BRAND? .......Do you belong to an A graded institute whose brand itself make you the pick. If yes, cheers my friend..... You are just a knock away from your dream company.

Was it your pre-experiences? ..... If the company have tasted great picks from your institute, it will come back for your batch too. You have to make sure you grab this opportunity.

Now, did you pick the cookie pack just because you loved its packaging? ....are you among those who neither have brand recognition, nor a referral to the company? Trust me you are nowhere behind... Think why you picked up the cookie! Which are the traits that you paid to have it? Build those traits in yourself......make yourself visible. Everyday go one step ahead than you were yesterday and see the change you have made in a month... You know the changes you need to bring in. You just need to get up and do it NOW.

Just think, would you have picked up the cookie just because of the brand if it had a fragile packaging.... would you have gone for it if you thought its not worth of the cost you are paying? Make yourself worth a pick! Trust me, no matter where you are. No matter if you are a hidden cv amidst crores, you will be picked very soon.

Opportunities are just one step ahead and you need to bridge this step today!

Institute for Technology and Management is in itself a product of the entrepreneurial efforts of an engineer who gave up an enviable position in a well established company to pursue his dream of establishing an unaided educational institute to meet industry needs. Its growth in a short period of less than two decades, reflects the entrepreneurial capabilities of this entrepreneur.

It was only natural for ITM to create an ecosystem on its campus that nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit of students on its campuses and lend a helping hand to people who strongly believe in their dreams. EVision is driven by this goal.Starting with small group of students in 2006, today, EVision comprises of over 220 student members, half a dozen faculty and an equal number of alumni entrepreneurs.

The aim is to build a ecosystem that students can depend on should they want to learn about entrepreneurship or become an entrepreneur.

The E-Cell at ITM Navi Mumbai took shape in August 2006. It was the culmination of efforts by the Dean, Dr. A. K. Dasbiswas, to introduce Entrepreneurship teaching in the management curriculum at ITM. The effort began in February 2006 when he invited Ms.Sunita Singh, of the National Entrepreneurship Network, to visit ITM on 7th February 2006. Besides then, this meeting was attended by Dr. C. S.Adhikari, Prof. J. A. Bhavsar, Prof. B. V. R. Murty and Prof.Prema Basargekar. Ms.Sunita Singh recommended the formation of an E-Cellat ITM with key faculty members as coordinators and with voluntary registration of students.

A tentative road map for developing E-cell in collaboration with NEN was also worked out. It was decided that E-cell would primarily be led and driven by students under the overall guidance of the faculty coordinators and external support from NEN.Prof. Prema Basargekar and Prof.Shailja Karve were assigned the task to form the E-Cell and they familiarised the students with the concept of Entrepreneurship Cell.

More than 40 students registered and the E-Cell was born.In the beginning, emphasis was put on building awareness about entrepreneurship. By 2009 the focus shifted to making Entrepreneurship Activities Sustainable and with this in mind a course on Entreprenaurship was introduced in 2009.

Now, E-cell has come up with a new event called "E - Week".

HR SYNERGY - Annual Fest

On 31st January 2015, the current HRites (14-16) continued the tradition of conducting

"HR SYNERGY", the legacy passed on to them by their seniors.

The college witnessed yet another year of management students interacting with each other with much vigour all around the campus and enriching their skills and talents to the core.

What does Synergy mean?

The literal meaning of the term is:

"The interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements, contributions".

For the HR Batch synergy is just not an event passed on to us by our seniors. Neither is it just a tradition -in-name only. As the literal meaning of the word suggests, it is a club invented by our esteemed professor, Dr. Sarit Pravadas, who along with the other faculty members, guides the students to teach management issues in an innovative manner that one might face later on in their professional way. Also, it helps in forming a familiar life long bond with the respective batch mates.

As the motto of HR states -WE HOLD THE SHIP.

The event started with inaugural ceremony at 10:00 am in the campus by some of our esteem professors and lasted till 6:00 in the evening. It comprised of various events like:

CLICKO-MANIA -in which students of other colleges and our college participated to showcase their photography talent. Next event which took place during the day was DANCE-TO THE-BEAT, which was inter-college and inter-batch event wherein the students displayed their grooves from, hip-hop to locking & poppin, from bollywood thumkas to spicy salsa, it sure rocked us all & taught us to shake it-like-shammi. The day tagged along with the next exciting event named as KITCHEN KINGS   in which the participants had to make desserts using seven ingredients only with a twist  round introduced in the last ten minutes by our guest judge to happened to e a renowned chef of Navi Mumbai. The participants sure lived up to their names, or shall I say their lip-smackin food which leaves one for craving more & more. Watch out the calories their folks! The last event which marked the end of SYNERGY was SINGING & MONOLOGUE. This never before done event in the college comprised of dares, where a participant could choose their opponent and dare them to sing the same song in their ish-tyle. Monologue however, was an "I dare you to do act better than me round" which brought forth us our very own actors in the campus. "Rishte mei toh hum tumhaare baap lagte hai. Haiin!"

Another never before conducted activity by us HRites was PHOTO-BOOTH stall, which lured in the students to try out various props (prepared by the GLC H.R. students themselves) and unleash their crazy side. CLICK-SMILE -OK-PLEASE!!!

Here are some of the highlights of the event:

Business Communication Play

Shakespeare Era

"All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players.

They have their exits and their entrances,

And one man in his time plays many parts,

His acts being seven ages."

William Shakespeare, well known for his entirely different style of writing, he combined poetic genius with the practical sense of theater. His writings always had message, hidden in the various emotions. ITM students brought the Shakespeare era back to life with a whole new advent of love, laughter and emotions. They interpreted Shakespeare's play with the perception of today's world, exhibiting the hidden message in a lot more colorful manner.

This not only being a part of curriculum learning, it was an experience for life for the future managers. From revealing the characters to releasing the trailer, from preparation to promotion, This experience not only tested the acting and advertising skills of the students but also their understanding about the play and the message involved.

Business Communication Play - Shakespeare Era

Finance 1: The Taming of the Shrew

The play The Taming of the Shrew is a comedy written by William Shakespeare and it is about a nobleman tricking a drunk guy "Christopher Sly" into believing that he is a noble man!!!

The main plots depicts the courtship of Petruchio and Katherine , the obdurate shrew, who finally becomes an obedient bride.

Finance 1 presented a similar romantic comedy "It had to be you" where a dad advises his two daughters Kate and Bianca not to date anyone and what later happens in college and at different scenarios was one hilarious episode!!

This interpretation had the very modern flavour about dating and love, and how parents feel about their children dating. This shows that even though the era and fashion changed but love remained the same...

Business Communication Play - Shakespeare Era

Information Technology - Much Ado About Nothing

"Much Ado About Nothing" is generally considered one of the best comedies written by Shakespeare because along with its hilarity it combines a very serious meditation on honor and court politics.

The plot revolves around Benedict and Beatrice who tricked into confessing their love for each other and Claudio is tricked into rejecting Hero at the altar on the basis of the false belief that she had been unfaithful.

Our IT Batch comes up with "Shaina" an adaptation where Aman is heartbroken. Is it because of Shaina? The interpretation had the similar plot yet a very different story. With a pinch of modern love and bitterness of politics in vogue story says a lot to learn from.
