In the last couple of weeks, SIMSR was bustling with students from universities in the U.S. visiting the campus and working on various projects..
Students from California State University along with students at SIMSR worked on a project in the manufacturing industry, to study corporate sustainability and Return on Investment in CSR investments. Students from Cornell University (Johnson school) flew down to work along with our students on various live industry projects related to BoP marketing, NGO operations, medical tourism industry among others. It was a great learning experience for us not only in terms of project exprience but also in cross-cultural communication and teamwork 😃

Truley believe my friends, I have never heard such a speech with so much energy, enthusiasm and what more can I say.. I don't have words to express the kind of insights, food for thought etc.. shared by Mr Nitin Paranjpe, CEO and MD of Hindustan Unilever in the inaugural function of the Conference. I am sure, today he inspired all of us to go much more than an extra mile .
Got a chance to hear few research papers and liked the concept and research done by the participants and delegates from all over the world.
Now the end of the day, like the start of the conference, the end was also mind blowing. Performance by Prof Atul Mishra and Prof Isaac Jacob and Prof Ramke and delegates mesmerized the audience by back to back songs and it seemed that singers of 70's are singing in front of us , standing ovation by the audience.
Finally attended the 2nd and concluding day of SIMSR Asia Marketing Conference after missing out on Nitin Paranjpe's session on day 1 due to cricket match. Today's dignitaries were
Mr. Bhaskar Das, President , The Times of India Group, Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd., Mr. Sanjiv Sarin, South Asia President , Tata Global Beverages Limited Mr. Kinjal Medh, COO, Cogito Consulting
And i must tell you, it was an awesome experience listening to such industry stalwarts giving their views on "Marketing Unbound" , the theme of this year's marketing summit.
After a scintillating start to the conference by Mr.Nitin Paranjpe on Day 1, Day 2 began with an equally inspiring talk fromDr. Bhaskar Das - President at The Times Of India Group, Benett Coleman & Co. Ltd. (BCCL). It was perhaps one of the most engaging and interesting talks I have ever heard Dr. Bhaskar started with something as basic as defining 'marketing' and as he progressed, enthralled us with his innovative insights on branding and digital marketing.. The best part of the talk was it was so contemporary and something we cannot find in our marketing text books.
The second speaker was Mr. Sanjiv Sarin - Regional President for South Asian Region, Tata Beverages. Mr.Sanjiv talked about the evolution of Tata Tea's positioning and explained in detail the need and making of the popular Jaago Re campaign :)The talk was followed by Mr. Kinjal Medh - Chief Operating Officer, Cogito Consulting.
The valedictory function had Dr. Prafulla Agnihotri, director of one of the IIMs holding a brief presentation on the theme 'Marketing Unbound'.
With Samavesh and Navikaran being a huge success in the last few weeks, SIMSR Asia Marketing just proved to be an icing on the cake!! Way to go SIMSR..
On January 6th and 7th, 2012 The 7th SIMSR Asia Marketing conference was held at K.J Somaiya Institute of Management and Research (SIMSR). The conference is conducted by SIMSR in collaboration with its academic partners School of Management Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand; Deakin University, Australia and College of Business and Public Administration, California State University, San Bernardino, USA.
This year saw participation from the US, the UK and the Asia Pacific regions with reputed scholars from the world of Marketing, assembling at SIMSR to share their knowledge. The theme for this years conference was Marketing Unbound, which is aptly relevant in todays business environment where boundaries of all business functions and consumers are being demolished.
Amongst the dignitaries who graced the conference were Nitin Paranjpe, CEO and MD, HUL; Dr. Bhaskar Das, President, The Times of India Group, Benett, Coleman and Co. Ltd, Mr. Sanjiv Sarin, South Asia President, Tata Global Beverages Ltd & Mr. Kinjal Medh, COO, Cogito Consulting.
Kudos to Interface (The Marketing club of SIMSR) for conducting the event.

OMG .......IB paper........the best part was its preparation....
What say Mrinal Banerji, Shivam Awasthi??
Studying all night..(khauf IB ka..) with barely 2 hours of sleep and already knowing that you can not do much is a mix of tension and hardwork at that time but a memory to cherish for lifetime....
Around 300 pages to study and only 10 hrs..(bahut na insaafi h...)..3-4 friends in a room reading the pages with a wish to grab it all in a flash...then discussing some points....cursing ourselves for not understanding......counting the pages.....making resolution that from next trim will read every subject from start of the trim....drinking water like anything....trying to wake up all night.....sleeping at 3 AM and then waking up at 5 AM.....telling to friends"kuch padha de na yaar"....and "sab bhool gya"......
A night to remember..... everyone fought hard to save........
