We just concluded R D Aga Memorial lecture series, yesterday.. The theme for this years event was rethinking the future
The event started with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Mrs. Anu Aga, Director, Thermax and Dr. M.S. Raste, Vice Chancellor, Symbiosis International University. It was followed by a welcome speech from Dr. Rajani Gupte, Director, SIIB.
The VC stressed the need to synergize industry and education to ensure mutual benefits for both. he also has advocated a student determined curriculum..
One of the speakers, Mr Robert Taylor, who spoke on Global warming and the role of Carbon Credits.
Unmesh Kulkarni, Senior manager, Philips design, spoke on Importance of simplicity in Innovation
Mr. Vikas Shah of Tata Teleservices and Dr. G K Karanth, Director Centre for Multi - disciplinary Development Research were the other speakers and they spoke on the topics changing role of infrastructure and the changing role of Family respectively

The hostel funda.. Well u need to stay in hostel.. Its compulsory.. Can't avoid it.. even for married people.. i know this guy in our batch who is 32 with 2 kids and still is in hostel

hey nadeem this one is for u.do u get sundays off at siib?and are foreign placements a possibility in the next couple of years.also,there is something about companies like pricewaterhouse coopers and citibank coming in this year.what kinda salaries did they offer and how many offers did they make?

and regardng foreign placements..... please check our website...
couple of companies offer foreign placements (traing phase... say denmark)

another couple of questions for u nadeem.i'm kinda looking to join siib and give cat another shot next year.so i wanna know what the months of nov and dec are like at siib in the first year which is the peak entrance exam time.i mean would it possible to go off on sundays and give the exams?no mid terms during that time eh?and what months is the internship in.and last question,was the highest package offered last year by one of the new companies like pwc,std chart and so?how many guys did they pick?

As far as i knw...u hav to be in formals only when in the academic section of the campus...that wasnt a rule in our times...but things do change...and outside the acad section...u can and u shud wear casuals...no rules on that ;)
@SIIBlings...i knw most of the Class of 2008 wud now hav left the campus after the final xams..and the Class of 2009 wud be leaving for the smmr interns...will try to revive this thread once again...anyone ready to give a helping hand? :lookroun:
