as u told before in the thread the cutoff percentile is around 91 but can we know the lowest percentile to convert a call because the last person to be called for a gd pi generally does not make it to the institute unless he is 2 good or with tonnes of work ex

hi guys/gals,
Hello people i had a per of 98.01 last year in CAT but thanks to my Coaching institutes misdirection i did not apply to UBS.
WEll nothing like straight form the horse's mouth so i exhort dearsest UBS ites to tell about all teh salient features of this college coz though reports and word of mouth suggests UBS is one the best MBA schools in the country its not tkaen in the same hallowed breath as MDI or SPJ(I dont intend to hurt anyones sentiments)
I look forward to apply this year to UBS but would like it to be clarified that what is the general atmosphere out there and what are the days and activities like.
Also which ocourse should onw apply to coz UBS offers 3.
Would be grateful for although gyaan i can get.

Hi all
Well having seen UBS people 4 the last 4 yrs in PU, I must say there has been some improvement in the department insofaras the placements and the crowd is concerned.
Its very heartening to see UBS being ranked 11th but guys, just a small caution. Before being euphoric about the rankings, just think once had IIM L, I, K, FMS, XLRI participated in the survey, what would have the condition been?
I wish you all good luck for your summers.

B-schools` middle order swellsOur Bureau / New Delhi September 15, 2005Bhavan's comes first in AIMA rankings as new entrants creep in. It is a mixed bag this time. The underlying direction of the 2005 ratings of Indias business schools by the All India Management Association (AIMA) are stability, change and growth. Most of the schools at the top have maintained their positions, while a few new ones have moved in, and there is a growing middle order. Of the roughly 1,000 B-schools approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the rated universe for this survey was 258. But nine out of these did not qualify, bringing the tally of schools that made it to the final list to 249. Of this, there were 74 new entrants, while a large number of B-schools also chose to keep away. This could mean that, those at the top and middle are upgrading themselves quality-wise, the ones at the lower end are feeling the heat of scrutiny.

*New entrant in 2005, NOTE: Ratings in alphabetical order
The detailed ratings and survey can be read in the September 2005 issue of Indian Management, a Business Standard group publication. The listing of B-schools is a rating, based on percentile scores and not a ranking. B-schools have been rated on five critical parameters under seven categories or sub-categories. The core parameters include: intellectual capital, admissions and placements, infrastructure, interface with industry, and governance. While there are three broad categories, A, B, and C, there are two sub-categories in each, with upper sub-categories being identified with a plus sign. This makes for six narrower categories, ranging from A+ and A to C+ and C. The A+ category again has two components: the top 10 and the next 10. There are 20 institutes that have obtained the topmost A+ grade, forming about 8 per cent of the total sample. This year, the focus of attention is on the top 10. There are three new entrants in the top category. Just one notch below the top 10 is another group of 10 institutes which are also in the A+ category. This group has also witnessed changes, with many schools upgrading themselves from the A category in 2005. In the A+ category this year, of the 10 institutes, seven have retained their positions, whereas three new institutes have come in. The changes in the A category are less marked, though there are fewer schools in this category this year. A few institutes have dropped out from the last years B+ category and a small number of institutes that have upgraded themselves have joined this category. However, many of the institutes in this category were able to hold on to their positions. This year, there are 44 institutes which have obtained the A grade and form 17.7 per cent of the total sample. That is below the 53 institutes which made it to this segment last year. But it was in the B+ category that some major changes were observed this year. Interestingly, a number of institutes that have participated in the survey for the first time have secured a place in the B+ category emphasising that many of the new entrants are focusing on providing quality and better education. In all, there are 45 institutes, which have obtained the B+ grade and form 18.1 per cent of the total sample. The upgrading process continued in the B category too: a number of B-schools that are in this category this year are those that have upgraded themselves from the C-category of last year. There are 36 institutes which have obtained the B grade and form about 14.4 per cent of the total sample. In the C+ and C categories are most of the new entrants. However, it is also to be noted that many of the C category listings of last year have also decided to drop out from the ratings and race altogether, partially reflecting the fact that they have not been able to stand up to scrutiny. There are 53 such institutes in the C+ category and form 21.3 per cent of the total sample. The remaining institutes have been awarded the C grade. There are 51 such institutes that have found a place in the C category and form 20.5 per cent of the total sample. The message is clear: while the top category schools have the potential to provide good business education, the next tier could do so with some further effort, while the rest will either have to shape up or ship out.
