First a disclaimer that I know that comparisons are not allowed on PG.
But here I am asking about MBE and MFC, both are relatively oblivious to me. So it wud be great if someone can shed somelight on which one to go for?
As far as I think, ROI,faculty wud be great for both since its DU. Campus also remains the same(infrastructure gets ruled out). Now what remains is placements and some other factors which only an insider wud know.
Categorical statements are appreciated.

Seniors, i have a query..i read this article in the hindustan times which said that the department of business economics and department of financial studies are being merged and formed into one common department which will be called Faculty of finance and applied economics..it said that it would be operational from july onwards and it also mentioned that joint placements could take place once the faculty is formed and that course modifications would take place from next session onwards..i called the office and they told me that it is in considerations and that they would come out with the recommendations pretty soon..but the article had quoted Prof V k Kaul..i wanted to know from you seniors about the progress or if there is any truth in it or the fact that it would be operational from this year??

placements are def better in MFC,so if you are considering only placements MFC has proved out too be a better choice so far(again...n1 is sure of future 😃 ) but if you are interested in economics then dont go foor MFC.Also a positive point in joining MBE is that in case you wanna go for IES ( indian economic services) then they recognise MBE as a valid course....hope it helps...in case you want any particular details you can PM me,i have converts from both MFC and MBE and am still in contemplative mode as to which one shd i join... 😃

you can have the xact placement figures from the website of MBE(MBE Recruiter's handbook).and for your ready reference,yes,the avg packages have been around 5 lpa for the years you have mentioned.
2007 --> median sal 5.94 lpa highest sal 7.8 lpa
2008 --> median sal 6.71 lpa highest sal 9.6 lpa
2009 --> median sal 5.5 lpa highest sal 9.6 lpa
P.S. : you might want to tone down your language a bit.you might pen up lotta other avenues of help also,though seniors have been very very helpful throughout.

Thanks for raising this pertinent question.
Creation of FFAE will be formal from Session starting in July 2010 and let me make it very much clear that students of Batch 2009-11 and coming batches are stakeholders in MFC to same extent as faculty members are.
True, circumstances are changing and we, at MFC, believe that it is for good only due to the following reasons :-
1) Prominent professors of Finance and Economics are joining Campus only due to formation of FFAE. These professors are coming from IIMA and MDI, (name disclosed in prvs replies). We believe company contacts that they will bring will help placements.
2) Placement process @ MFC is student driven activity and Current HOD/Professors play very active and supportive role in that and these endeavours are personal initiative of faculty members rather than any obligation to DU as such, assured by the same faculty for such support in future even though Deptt may be FFAE.
3) Again as placement process is student driven activity, even Current HOD supported placement team's right to have separate placement process in future as well.
At last in the end, we(Student Body) are pretty much firm and assertive to have separate placement process and i don't think there is any reason for thinking otherwise.

MBE seniors..above is a post from the MFC senior..apparently..FFAE is going to start from this year..would the professors mentioned above be teaching at MBE too or just MFC people..and how is the whole scenario going to affect MBE in terms of course quality, faculty and placements? is the placements at MBE student driven as well?

hi dear..am not a senior,but based on a li'l analysis i can say that i am 200% sure that ppl with waiting from 1 to 15 will get a final convert and ppl from 15 to 20 will get a convert 100%...infact if i must daresay,ppl in the first waitlist have awesome chances of conversion...(General category).Hope it helps...party dude...
