i would just bring one point to notice here that dude just look at the advertisements, the popularity done by these b skools, sum of them had even extended the dates of their forms or even opened it after cat results were out, does DU indulge in such activities............. the answer is certainly no and its just because the course is well set up and the placements and all other activities there are in good place and now to show u the odr side of the story.........wen i was in DU for the GD/PI process there were people frm all areas..........one waitlisted at IIM-calcutta, one called for IIM-L,one converted fore and was waitlisted at NITIE, one converted NMims ,engineer frm DCE and i looked at the spreadsheet therz a person frm IIT as well.......are not these big names?????????? i hv my cousin who is passed out frm here arnd 2 years back and he told me its the just the brand DU which is enough for companies to get attracted for the course and plus u can never supress talent which has cracked a tough entrance exam (this tym arnd 10k-15k people gave the exam and i guess u know how many seats were der) trust me dude its a gud infact fantastic course and rankings alwayz do not show the right picture rest ur choice........you are a better judge of yourself and ya seniors should answer the question regarding the minimum package offered

But the question that what was minimum offer made to a student this year...and to how many candidates it was offered ? from this we will get an idea of range of placements...... and second point is why this program is ranked so low in Time rankiing......
is it even worst than itm navi mumbai bimtech noida imt dubai......... if picture is so rosy why not TIME people get aware of it do we not have any person at MBE who is a time student....and let them know ............ Isn't it Ranking by TIME people which acts as a benchmark for any MBA aspirant forcing people to opt out of the course seeing it not featuring even in TOP 60 b schools of india.............
Comparision is not allowed on pg but i cant stop myself from saying that the name of colleges that you have mentioned above are not even comparable to MBE in any respect!! I mean comparision can only be done between two colleges when you can make them equal or at least close in any respect..Just try to guage the superiority of MBE by looking at the level of competition that we had to face to get through MBE, the qualtiy of peers that you met during gd/pi, unmatched course curriculum(dual specialisation), placements ( I cannot compare the colleges directly, but believe me the lowest package offered at MBE is better than the avg package offered at these institutes)

please ans the querry regarding the minimum package and to how many candidates it was offered ? and also how many people got that touted highest salary of 11 lakhs and who was the recruiter...
and I don't want to heart the sentiments ofanyone part or going to be the part of the college .....i just want to be clear........because few of my friend who are from here local delhi have opted out of mbe saying its not worth taking admission here and have moved to pursue their m. tech. instead from nit trichy calicut and surathkal.....
Me too want to be clear before making any decision I have m. tech option from jadavpur university, it bhu.....and xime bangalore, doms nit trichy for mba...... so anybody who is feeling hurt by such posts because he is part of college(it's obvious nobody want to project his institute bad however bad it may be...)
so request to seniors present honest pictures for the students coming...(I hope u understand how crucial it is for anyone to make a decision about his career at this crucial stage)......From coaching institutes too i am getting mixed reactions.........so help.........
Reddy boss,seniors have already told so many times about the avg and highest packages offered this year.The main issue here is DU should do something more about this wonderful course that it offers.The course curriculum is the best i have seen. The problem is that the course the not getting the due importance that it should receive from the university.Some kind of publicity and more attention is needed from DU till the course gains good name among public and industry but this is not happening and neither the website is up to date with the latest information.So an outsider just knows the curriculum is good but not sure of placements and quality of instruction given.
Time sights that: MBE is well regarded at the local level. The institute may not provide too many national-level placement opportunities but are generally successful in providing placements to many of their students with prominent local companies.
Hence so many students may not opt for the course considering the above statement.Its high time that students in current batch should bring to the notice of the unversity that the course needs more attention.One can see that not even 50% of the seats are filled in the first cycle considering the fact that this being a course offered by DU
MFC offer a consistent quality of education in terms of faculty quality and infrastructure facilities even though the institute may not be comparable to those of the top 30 institutes. The institute is successful in providing high quality placements to their top students, especially those with good communication skills, but do not have a 100% placement record. A student at one of these institutes would have to workextra-hard to secure a good rank and high marks so as to enhance her / his placement chances.
mbe is a good course and is comparable with the top 30 colleges .i heard that the lowest salary is 5lacs below which no company is allowed for placement.most people stay in the range of 6-8 lacs.the min. package is offered to very few people.seniors correct me if i am wrong....
hey..guys reason for 50% seats r still vacant is not that course is bad..but it is due to fact that this yr mfc and mbe hav a common entrance exam ...so students that are selected in both colleges are also common......so many seats are still vacant.....
As i see many of the queries posted here have already been answered by my fellow batch mates. However, I will try to sum up everything here in this post
Placements
The placements @MBE this year have improved this year and are expected to improve further in the next academic year. The avg pkg offered is 7.5 lacs with highest being offered 11 lacs. The lowest pkg offered is 4.5 lacs by a start up firm (2 people were selected). I'm sorry i can't make the name public of the company which offered what pkg The profiles offered are of risk analytics, equity research, financial research, MR, project appraisal to name a few. The key recruiters have been Deloitte, Amex, De shaw, Inductis etc. The number of offers per student for 2009-10 batch is 1.6 and that for Summers have been 2.5. Also, the avg stipend offered this year has been 10K and more (exact number still not available as few are revising the stipend).
Culture @MBE
All the activities here are student driven initiative and have to be conducted end to end by the students of the batch. We have various clubs and committees to conduct the same and students need to take the initiative about these activities. Even for the placement it is student driven initiative facilitated by the dept. The dept does not has any obligation for placement, however it has always helped and supported all the initiatives taken by students over the years. So if you think you can just come and sit and rest all will be taken care by the dept. that won't be the case. You have to be the part of all these activities and dept. will offer full support. The initiative has to be from the batch. All are committees and clubs has put lots of efforts last year and we have achieved results. We were able to pull 12 PSU for Summers and are positive about next year to. So if you put efforts results will be there for you.
MBE as B-School
MBE is not the replacement of B-school. Its post graduate course in Business Economics and caters to sector of analytics. The econometrics which is the USP of MBE is taught only in IIMs in India and in no other B-school. Yes, our course structure does have all the subjects which are more or less similar to what other B-school has but it is not pure management degree. Same is the case with MFC also which caters to the specific sector of finance. DU has only one core B-school which is FMS. Both MBE and MFC cater to different sectors of Analytics and finance and are not B-schools though they are perceived to be. Both have overlapping course structure which is the reason they are being brought under one roof. The new faculty will be available to both the courses. We have India's top analytics firms coming here for placements as regular recruiters. However, if you are looking for profile of I-Banking you will not get that from MBE not because MBE is not capable but because our course is not structured that way and our target audience are different. MBE and MFC are similar in all aspects except for the sectors to which we both target. Also if you think in terms of ROI, it gives you good deal when you consider other B-schools in Delhi region.
Laterals and for people from Engg background
As of now we do not have culture of laterals @MBE. However, we are trying starting this year as we have around 30% batch with work ex of more than 6 months which companies consider as relevant. Also, we are now having more of engineers and students from Science background in our batch than from eco, B.com (H) etc which is encouraging. Does not mean that students from other background are at disadv.
I'm mentioning this as students from engg background have this perception that they be @disadvantage and also me being engineer myself have soft corner for them :-P
Regarding the question related to ranking, I can't post on public forum. If anyone has any question you can PM me about it.
I hope I have clarified many of the doubts and this useful. The whole idea of my posting here is to have students coming to our MBE family with clear mind and work together with us.

Please do not make decision based on my post. Think what you are looking for. Everyone have their own goals and what they wanna do. I'm only presenting the facts here which can help to frame your decision but it has to be your decision. I know people who have quit IIM-A calls also after converting them, so it's all about what you are looking for.

In my opinion, it wont be an issue even if you donot study economics before joining MBE as majority of the class is from non-economics background.
