me wondering if MICA is taking both CAT and XAT SCORES PLUS PPL APPLIED LAST YEAR .....should the cut-off percentile for us be higher than last time folks?????
i mean with both CAT and XAT 85 % percentile how many ppl do they intend to call???
....... but their seats have doubled this time .... anyway this is a lot confusing . guess me thinking a lot....

Can we apply with both CAT and XAT scores on the same form? No,Right? And its too late to buy another form. If IIM requires 52+..........I know....MICA should take a cut off of ummm......30?.....eeeks,how improbable does that sound? (Ignore the ranting.....It's 6 am and I havent slept through the night!!)
Sleeping pills or Wrist-slitting,that is the question!!!!
Dude you can download the form .. from the Mica site and send it with a dd of 1300/- .. By doing ths you can apply with XAT score seperately .. check it out..

MICA short lists candidates for MICAT on overall performance in CAT and / or XAT and do not look at sectional weightages.
This year the overall percentile is expected to be considerably low considering the toughness of CAT.
The precise cut-off cannot be specified as the shortlist is based on the results of the CAT and the XAT. MICA normally shortlists the top 2000 candidates based on these entry tests for the MICAT, GE and PI.
Well this surely means that english scores do not matter now which i am finding a tad difficult to digest

It has been confirmed that there is no GK in XAT. I have already provided a link which has XLRI people saying that they have dropped GK this year. Also in th XAT thread, the current students in XLRI have confirmed with their office that there will be no GK this year. Check out the article mentioned. Hope that will lift your spirits.

I know you posted that link from the Telegraph........I checked it out long back......Great Relief.......These silly CL ppl just said it did have GK....Sometimes I wonder if the 22k was even worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrr................

I dont know....I find that a relief...My english score sucks big time!! 18........Though the part about the "Considerably low overall percentile" is like manna from heaven....Fingers crossed!!!
Hey Fellow pathetic CAT scorers and "self-head-bangers-against-a-wall"!!!
Went to my CL centre today......They told us that last year the minimum cut-off for MICA was 33+(I don't know,please don't beat me up!!...thats what they said)................and considering the wierdness of this years paper the cut-off ought to drop a few notches!! Yay!!
Lets just keep our fingers crossed,and pray real hard!!!

Here's how I look at it:
If the score is way tooooo low for MICA to even consider me,then I'd definitely go the XAT way.....No choice there,eh?
On the other hand, XAT has that dreaded GK bit.....Aaaaaargh!!

Did anyone have a score around that or have a friend who got around that? Anyone know what CAT score was the cut-off for MICA last year? We could shave off a few marks this year No?

Yes it was around 87 to 88 percentile last year.. dunno what the cut off was last year .. but if they this year a score of 33 + should fetch a 90 or very close to it

Well id not sent my mica form....was waiting for cat to get over.....n after the unexpected debacle......i think its xat for me..........btw last year.....a friend of mine.....got a 99.99 percentile in english....a 98.7 percentile in DI/LR....he did not attempt even a single question from the quant section.....he's currently in mica.....damn creative chap tho' deserves to be there.

i observed MICA's trend last yr...
this is wht i came to..
if u hv 90+ in eng n ovreall 95+ u get a call..
or u hv n overall of 90 n 95+ in eng u get a call..
in the later stages they scrutinize the engineers really well cuz a lot of'em just attend n clear MICA for time pass..
but if they find an engineer half as deserving as others n genuinely interested he mostly gets selected cuz they hv very less engg population out there n wanna increase it..!!

With our name as common as that, you can be sure to find one each place that you go. Anyway, my guess after doing my bit of research, that a overall score of about 31-32, with "decent" scores in English should be enough. Cant give the decent scores with ambiguity in almost each english question. My score varies from 11 to 20, depending on tyhe answer keys. I am going with CAT score, as that is the one that has passed, and something we know about. Waiting for XAT could be a risky thing. But how i wish that they would have the option of taking best out of the two scores.

Do you call 25 in 73 students "very less"...its 35% of the first yr batch. As far as i know, this figure is higher than JBIMS current corresponding figure. And if u think engineers here are only dumbf***s and only half as good as others, the sooner u get real the better...

No of Engineers in JBIMS in the current 2 batches are
For Batch of 2007
= 89 / 120
= 74%
For Batch of 2006
=83 / 120
=69%
(In both case almost double the figure quoted by you)
and these numbers are not on "As far as i know" basis (as in your case), But the actual numbers
So do correct your above statement
I dont know why a reference to JBIMS was required here
Even if it was very necessary, would appreciate if you quote accurate numbers.
