Sir Myself suman from West Bengal Recently got job as a clerk in UBI(Dum Dum Cant. Branch). I am very happy with my posting(just 30min from home), office culture and other things. But Now I also selected in SBI clerk also. My job in UBI is just 1mont old. Here our management view they treat clerk just for future Officer. It means in clerk position to officer distance is just 3 years. Our manager says if you want to be a officer in future then here is a smooth opportunity, while in SBI there some time not. So you stay here. But some others says, SBI is a big in banking sector. SBI give some extra benefit which are, petrol, 2increment extra, entertainment etc. I want to be officer in future and I know UBI is mainly eastern india mainly West Bengal, Assam and Tripura related so if I want promotion There chance maximum I would be in Eastern Part of India. Now my question is that Which Bank is suitable for me. Whethere UBI or SBI in Present situation. My email ID is - [email protected]

About choosing between a Technical B.Tech job and a Bank pO JOB, u would have to make a choice as to what do you enjoy doing more. For me, I have already worked in a renowned IT company where the salary was much more but coding was not something i enjoyed doing.
Now, I am working for bank of baroda as a generalist officer and the experience has been quite satisfying. All my finanace fundas are brushed up, and the job experience would certainly count while applying for MBA colleges later.
@anjali_sng : Generalist means that i do not specialize in a particular field of banking like IT or credit or law. The experience so far has been really very good. The kind of people I am working with are very cooperative. Since it is a customer facing job,the major drawback is that you have to listen to a lot of customer bullshit but overall experience is good.
@mbapagal : When i had given the exam 3 years back, the procedure was different. Now there is a common exam for all the psu banks called IBPS. I am sorry I cant be much of a help, since i barely know about the new procedure.
