it depends on the PSU and of course your job responsibility. BHEL, BEL etc gives posting in R and D centers which is usually within the city and they have this concept of townships (in remote postings) where u ll get all the facilities (incl schools) within it. but oil companies have no other option but to work in remote areas. same is the case if the company's field of operation is minerals, nuclear science etc. hope this helps.

IDBi role is target-based. so they'll have fixed salary + performance incentives. some of my friends who worked in IDBI earned more than SBI peers, solely becos they wer achieving their targets. But, the burn out factor is something u need to consider. Most of my IDBI friends joined other PSU banks (incl SBI and RRBs) from IDBI just to have a normal life and to reduce the pressure. So its enitrely ur call whether to join IDBI.

hi guys....there is a situation...i have 2 options available 1) joining as PO in BOIOR 2) joining govt. of gujarat as Dy.section officer (class-3) through GPSC job that is kind of non trasferable job @ gandhinagar having fix salary of Rs. 30000/month for 5 years.(right now salary is 10000/month but as govt. got defeated in High court & case is pending in Supreme court , govt has issued affidavit to increase the pay up to mini. wage i.e 30000/month )& one more thing govt. job is way less hactic than bank job ....but there will be no increment in govt. job for 5 years...that is what they call "fix salary" scheme....
Without any second thought go for Dy Section officer.
@anupda If you are there in RBI then you may get promoted in due course of time .. Its your choice what you want to go for .. U mentioned here no work stress and 10 - 6 job .. Forget that if u are planning to join a commercial bank ..

Vishal, if you are currently an officer in a PS bank, do comment on the blog itself so that PO aspirants get a realistic view of the life as a bank officer.
Hello people,I am new in this forum as I just filled up Ibps 2013 form..
I just wanna clear a question that how much minimum percentage requirement is there to be eligible for a General category candidate..
My profile is as: 10th - 65, 12th - 76, Grad - 62 and PGDM(2k13) - 59%
I am scared if my PGDM %age would be a hurdle to get in PSU banks or not...please help me out and will it be sufficient to prepare from a Bank PO book from any bookshop ? or is there a specific author which helps or i need to join a institute ? as an mba student i am confident to prepare on my own
@Gursimar2 IBPS SPL ur talking about .. Since, they have not mentioned the percentage criteria so why worry about it.. As far as joining an institute is concerned, it entirely depends on you whether you feel you may need outside help or not.. There is no such hard rule that people who join an institute are the ones who get through.. So, its entirely up to you.. For Bank PO Kiran Publication's book is good..
@OnceWasPO I was once a Bank PO and I resigned.. LOLzz .. Will share my story some other day .. But, there is not much difference in what people here have mentioned and the things I will write .. I vow never to join a Banking job again ..
