The numbers written in between the hyphens are the increments that you will get on an annual basis.
e.g.
- 215/3- denotes 3 increments of 215 each annually.
700(11) denotes 11 increments of 700 each on an annual basis.
I hope it's clear now...if not you can ask about it freely!!!!!!!!

These are the Pay-bands after the sixteh pay revision like

GR-A: 15600-39100 + 5400 Grade pay

GR-B : 9300-34800 + 4200/4600/5400 Grade pay

etc.

For answering the second question,i think i am not the right person.

Hello Pguys
Am back on this thread after my old post approximately one year ago.
last post was on 19 jun 2011.
see post here
http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/career-discussions/my-life-bank-po-t-64619/p-2635025/r-2793920?page=1
now its been 1.5 years in SBI and this post is for all PGuys to help & choose their career with some researched view.
am going to roughly add some pros & cons of this SBI PO job.

PROS.
1.Great organsiation to work with ,with high image, repute of its own kind, largest PSU bank & third largest profit making organisation in india.
2.Safe,Secure life,no suprises for sure.
3.Good salary structure ,though salary is same as with other PSU banks some differences do give out SBI advantages while other allowances & emoluments are much higher as compare to other PSU Banks,(My observation :-If you calculate perks & salary of SBI scale 1 -3 officers they are higher than PVT banks like ICICI,AXIS,HDFC bank also)
4.Very good Scope in banking industry if you work with this giant (Note - I refused net 50K /month offer of ICICI bank just week ago)
5.IF you are lucky you may get selected in treasury,CAG,MCG,forex,Trade finance,Export Import centers and many more specialised banking sectors where exposure is great one (I was not lucky in this but reasons differ )
6.Big boost in salary may come with next Wage HIke due in DEC 12 ,20% hike in basic will bring PO job at other officers jobs pay in central govt.20% is min pay hike according to my view it will settle above 30% as there is no pension issue this time.Plus SBI asking more than other PSU banks may give out more (last year SBI manage to get 7.5% extra hike than other PSU banks )
7.Promotions depend on your knowledge Upto Scale 3 positions.
8.JAIIB,CAIIB qualification & other degrees like CFP do get better atteintion & increase in basic plus honorium.
9.For peoples who have not done PG.Sbi do have contract with reputed PG college providing free MBA for emmployees ( after this there is bond to serve in sbi for some period )
10.you can leave organisation any time with notice period of 3 month in probation & 7 days after probation get over ,no bond no cuts.

CONS
1.every organisation do have cons & sbi is not exception ,first main con is Politics in transfers & promotions above scale 4.
2.HR policy not upto mark, recognisation of work & promotion to deserving candidates lack many times.
3.Rural posting thats another blow, with govt in mood to increase it to 5 years, its difficult one to digest (belive me working in rural branches is not that easy also.)
4.IF you are posted at branches that is most likely though afterwards you may get chance to move to specialised centers,in branches life do become monotonous & in sbi customers negotiation do take half of your work day.
5.Transfer is big issue, need to transfer every 3 years,it become very hectic after marriage & when you have family (in Gals cases its little bit realaxed as in most cases they are transfered as per their choice of posting ,now this is one negative for guys 😞 )
6.No suprises but no extra bonuses for sure ,kaam 10% karo yaa 100% you are going to get same salary.
7.You need to keep your sstudy continue after selection for JAIIB,CAIIB,confirmation test then promotion test and its go on ( good for some people bad for some peoples)

SO MY OBSERVATION SBI SI QUITE BETTER THAN OTHER PSU BANKS IN MANY WAYS FROM TECH TO HR POLICY ALSO BUT IT DO COME AFTER CENTRAL & STATE INSPECTORS POST & RBI GRADE B POST .
NOW THIS IS JOBWISE BUT FOR PERSON WHO IS TARGETING FINANCE SECTOR ESPECIALLY BANKING ,SBI IS BEST LAUNCHING PAD AFTERALL :)
THIS IS MY VIEW,& VIEWS TEND TO DIFFER AS PERSON CHANGE.
IF you have any questions, querys do message me ,I will try to solve at my best.

how is the recruitment for the treasury & Forex posts done?as you mentioned that few lucky people get it.are there any standard evaluation done for this posts? if a guy is having MBA in Finance will he be given preference for such posts?

Whats the in-hand Salary now? Can the Probationers avail the Leased House accommodation facility during probation period?

@ayneil85 BRo let me answer you questionwise.

1.IN two years i have seen there is no logic behind choosing guys for treasury, forex,MCG,CAG in our batch simply they started list with names of candidates starting from A to S (which depended on no. of requirements ),so no logic at all,Weak HR as i mentioned is one of the Flaw of PSU,& it will remain there, yes if you have good contacts then you can get good posts.
2.NoMBA preferance seen from HR,am too MBA Fin one of my friend having literature degree in English sits in International busssiness @ mumbai branch & am posted & semi urban branch right now ,so no Edu qualification Preferance buddy.
3.salary in hand yes 26K excluding allowances, pension & PF cuts.
4.Yes probationers in SBI can avail all possible benefits that confirmed officer in Scale 1 gets(This is only for SBI ,no ohter PSU BAnk permit it as far as i know)5.Housing loan for staff that comes in picture after % years of service right now its Rs.25 lacs @7% simple interest, negotiations going on to increase specified ceiling for car & Home loan.

SEE MANISHA2189 IT CERTAINLY DEPENDS ON YOU & YOUR PREFERANCES ,YOU WANT TO MOVE UP IN LIFE OR NOT,YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH CURRENT JOB,LOCATION ,PAY & OTHER FACTORS,MY HUMBLE OPINION GO FOR PO IN OTHER BANK,WE DONT KNOW SBI OR OTHER PSU BANKS WILL BE IN WHICH CONDITIONS AFTER 10 YEARS ,ALREADY SBI CHIEF SAID ON SAT THAT SBI WILL START ITS WORKING ON SUNDAY ALSO :),ITS FACT THAT BANKING IS CHANGING RAPIDLY,MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE AT A POSITION THAT AFTER 5-6 YEARS YOU CAN BE ABLE TO SWITCH ACCORDING TO YOUR WILL,NOW QUESTION STANDS HERE THAT YOU NEED TO GET ANSWER OUT FROM YOURSELF ONLY.

QUESTION IS DID YOU WANT TO BE IN PSU BANK TILL 60 YEARS OF YOUR AGE WITH STEADY GROWING SALARY OR YOU WANT TO EARN MONEY & RETIRE AT AGE OF40-45 CHOICE IS TOTALLY YOURS :)

Hey friends....i have been recently selected in the BMSB(Baroda Manipal School of banking)..!!

I am hoping to join it in the month of November BUT after reading the reviews or work experiences of the people working as a PO in the PSU banks have made me to think again to pursue the banking industry as my career....This year, I took admission in a decent college of Delhi to do PGDM in finance but after being selected for the PO, i have decided to drop MBA(PGDM) as package is gonna be the same in both and Bank of Baroda giving job guarantee whereas PGDM never gives that and it always depends on market situations...!!

BUT NOW after reading all the reviews here and considering that growth opportunity and salary increment is very low, i m confused whether to go for this PO programme or rather continue my PGDM and leave the PO....PLZZ PLZZ help and give me some advice !!!

Hi! I have been selected as specialist officer in JMGS 1 at Bank of Baroda after completing my PGDM in finance. My CTC as told by bank was around 6.5 lacs. But I'm very confused about the in hand salary (including perks)

Can some one please help me with these doubts:
1. My home town is Mumbai. I'm single and staying with my parents. My posting is also in Mumbai. so in this case is it possible for me to receive rent if i provide bank with lease agreement?
2. How much will be my in hand salary
3. How much are the monthly perks (and are they sanctioned or are just on paper?)

@coolmeddy buddy after taking 2-3 years of experience in public sector bank PO do have a good kind of demand in Pvt sector at double or triple salary, banking is not that much worse, every coin has both the sides,i belive banking is set to change in next 10 years to come & at your situation i will grab the opportunity work in BOB for some years & as economy turns back on track, leave BOB & go to pvt banking in specialised areas like forex, trade finance ,wealth management ,treasury & many more developing.
@sarika2812 i dont know about perks in BOB but yes about rent if your hometown is same as your posting you cant avail lease if you are able to commute between branch & home.
yes about in hand salary if BOB is giving 4 advance increaments like SBI in joing it will come in between 24-25k.
No pension as far as i know in BOB only cutting of PF of 10% will be there from salary, you will get 22-23 k in hand.
about perks in BOB i dont know,in sbi monthly perks are as follows
Petrol CAR max.65-min50 litres depend on location
BIKE max 50 -min 40 litres depending on location
Newspaper 450 Rs
cleansing & labour 1400
entertainment 1500(quarterly)
tea/coffee 500(quarterly)
apart from these medical facility & furniture allowance are annually.
lease rural min 8k semi urban 10 k urban 15k to 35k depending on location,in mumbai its 35 k.
these all allowances are for PO(JMGS scale 1 officer) in sbi.
Hope this will help, for further info do ask officer associations service condition book from BOB HR dept.
