[Official] CAT 2013 Aspirants

@AIM_IIM_2013 Thanks. :)
@Xyzlo Rather than worrying about percentiles as of now focus on preparation buddy! CAT 2013 is so far away and it is too early to think about cutoff percentiles. Don't get bogged down by those numbers now.

Give it your best for prep as of now and you can worry about percentiles later!!

@missionCAT13 bro, what kinda percentile in cat do I've to get for newer iims - iim C L - FMS - MDI - JBIMS - IIT M....?
IIM C Cut off has been 99.54 for the past two years,
IIM L cut offs depends on other factors also though you are supposed to get 99.5+ in my opinion.
FMS cut off was 98.73%tile last year, it gives 70% weightage to Written so better you score more in CAT to be on safer side..
MDI cut off was around 94.xx%tile last year, but very few below 99%tile had converted a call.most of the 99%tilers were selected,
JBIMs accepts CMATscore, if you are OMS student then your CMAT Air must be less than 40.
For IIT M, last year cut off was 94%tiles..
@ajaygovindg

I agree yaar... but you know - pretty curious.... :)

Pretty heavy cut offs... 😁

Thanks again for compiling them for me...! :)

SP jain gives profile based calls as well as score based calls also,
NITIE's cut off was also somewhat around 98%tile. (not sure, check its thread)
IMI cut off was 90%tile last year and IMT Ghz cut was also 90%tile last year,
IIT Bombay asks for 6.5 CGPA/60% in B.tech. Last year's cut off was 98.73%tiles.
as far as newer IIMs are concerned,97%tile was the cut off for the first round . However some weightage was also given to your profiles.
IIT Kgp also gave profile based calls last year and it asks for first class in b.tech.

This may sound a lil dumb... but PROFILE BASED CALL - does it mean calls by past academic records, work ex along with the cat score, is that so?

Hello i am currently woking in monnet ispat raigarh i am passout of NIT raipur. aiming for cat 2013 please guide me the plan to crack cat.
@Xyzlo Past acads, work exp and its relevance, extra-curricular, co-curricular, other achievements (class topper, university topper, best employee etc.) & last but not least entrance exam score.
@himanshugod There is no fixed/standard plan as such that works for all. It depends on individual skills, comfort level etc. on what prep strategy to adopt. You can get to know what to learn, tips on how to learn, where to learn etc. from many users and the prep threads here in PG to help prepare a plan for yourself based on time available, current comfort levels with each topic etc.

All the Best. :cheerio:
@himanshugod There is no good coaching in entire state . All are doing business so be aware while choosing coaching.

Hello,

I am asking your advice for a very unusual query. I have completed my master's in USA and worked there for some time for internships/ co-op positions. I came back to India to earn experience for MBA. I have 22 months of industrial experience and will have 24 months of teaching exp. if I apply for 2014 PGP program. (Total experience: 46 months) I applied to ISB and great-lakes this year, but they did not offer admission after interview.

I have not appeared for CAT till not, but I am seriously thinking about CAT 2013. So, if my age is around 28-29, will it be a hurdle to pursue 2 year PGP program from CAT? Also, I saw IIM usually prefer 3 year exprience. So, will it be a problem to have around 4 years of experience?

Is it worth taking risk? Or, will my profile and experience act as a hurdle? Your suggestions are really valuable. Please guide me.
@bestanalyst IIM's don't prefer 3 year work experience for the 2year full time MBA programme for which admission is through CAT. There are lots of freshers and

Also, are you looking for 2year or 1year programme? Frankly in my opinion with almost 4 years work exp I'm not sure how worth it will be doing 2 year MBA in India except from the likes of IIM A, IIM B, IIM C, XLRI, SPJAIN, FMS etc. considering your age and your post MBA job prospects. I would rather recommend a 1year programme from the top institutes. An exhaustive list is available here - http://www.pagalguy.com/posts/4246458 (Not all of them are top ones. So do further research on which is best for you!)

Hi Guys,

I am planning to give CAT this year (2013)

The thing is, this would be my first and last attempt due to issues at family level. All i want to do it is, crack it! Crack it big time!!! IIM is all i am craving for... And i would require your help as to where should i begin with.

My profile is as follows:

Category: SC

X % : 88.68

XII %: 92.08

B.Tech CSE CGPA: 8.48 / 10.00

Work Exp: 2.5 yrs as of now.

I am all ready to join a coaching class besides my hectic work schedule. I just want to crack it! Good luck to all of you!!!

@missionCAT13No way man. [@Ammz also] IIM K will NEVER EVEN look at you if you don't have MINIMUM 91 up in BOTH class-10 & 12. Yes, IIM-K gives 10/10 in Graduation marks if you have 70 up only but when it comes to 10, 12 marks, it gave a measly 7.43/20 to someone who got 88% in ICSE & ISC...Go through last year's thread & you will be shocked out of your wits People with 95% in ICSE got only 14/20 & if u are in the AP/TN board, then even 96% is not enuff. Overall you have to get an Index Score of 88/100 that is not mathematically possible. You can check it out yourself And as far as IIMS is concerned, its very very difficult to CONVERT with 10,12 marks
Does this holds up for the West Bengal Board People too...people who has given the Higher Secondary Exam in 1200 marks

as far as the profile is concerned you have left no margin for the selectors to eliminate you,apart from that you have a bonus that you are from category as well as you do have a relevant work ex.. all you need to do is to grip hard right from the beginning for preparation,now based on own individual capability you should decide whether you should join any institute or not,i would recommend better you should,ATB!!!

@Nikhil_52

I am highly motivated.. Thanks a lot!

@Kia_Singh Start by reading this for some regular motivation - http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/cat-and-related-bschools/all-wanted-speak-about-t-2933/p-51356

Then get on to the prep section here in PG and check out the different threads for QA, LR/DI & VA. Join a good coaching institute in your city/town (But don't depend too much on them. Material should be of prime importance as the prep should be from your side in the end!) and more IMPORTANT join a good test series (TIME AIMCAT, CL ProcMock, TG tests etc.). Have a plan in place for prep based on your current level in different areas and then go about the prep and mocks. Maintain the tempo till the C-Day, which is very important.

All the Best! :cheerio:

Hi Puys. Looking through all the posts terrifies me as people with excellent acads are getting rejected and i'm having really poor acads.
X - 76
XII - 63
B.E. - 61
Work Ex - Will be 30 months by CAT 2013

I know theses figures are really too bad. I'm planning to give CAT 2013 and preparing sincerely for it. Even if I score 95+ in CAT, will I have any chance of making it into the top B schools ( excluding IIM's as I don't think I have any chance in them ). Please seniors guide me and give me frank and honest opinions of my chances if I have any and which B schools should I aim for.

Thanks in advance
