So Basically even if a general category guy scores 100% percentile in CAT 2013 but having only 75% in his BE, wont be eligible for interviews in IIM- A,S,B etc..??
@ordinary_guy said:@leotheking--> Bhai what are u talking about? Please stop throwing random numbers & do a bit of LOOKING-AROUND (please!). Its practically impossible for a G+E+M to get an old IIM call at 98% (BKI MAYBE if u have a stupendous profile!!). And I don't mean it in a HEATED ARGUMENT sort of way but just in the capacity of someone who is going through the system. Especially if u are a CAT 2013 aspirant, u need to have a very clear idea of what u are getting into [if the heartbreak of all those with 99+ but NO HIGH-PROFILE CALLS till now have taught us aspirants anything]@avatar27If u dont mind me answering buddy, with ur profile,IIM- C --> a CAT Score of 309.84 (to be precise),which equals 99.65+ approxIIM-A --> a CAT Score of 339.54, which equals 99.85+ surely[U are really unlucky here. If instead of 80 in class-12, u had 80.01, then ur reqd CAT score would have reduced dramatically, assuming 8.3 in grad in ur university equals 83%]IIM-L --> Since u are G+E+M, so a score of 99.5+ would be safe. Anything less than that may be tricky as u are getting 0 marks for NOT being a GIRL or Non-Engg. So u have to capitalize as much as u can through ur CAT score to secure ur call.IIM-B --> Very little chance. Based on this year, it seems that 90+ in 10 & 12 & 83+ in grad (for engg.) can be considered A BIT safe [This assumption based on my call & that of 2 of my friends]. If u go through the profiles of people rejected this year, u wont even feel bad about it.IIM-K --> I think u know it pretty well yourself that almost zero chance here. 80+ in CBSE (among the most hated boards in Kozhikode along with ICSE, AP, TN) is an absolute death-knell for MALE candidates.IIM-I --> The WEIRDEST criteria till now. They have rejected some pretty unbelievable candidates till now. But 90+ in 10 & 12 & 80+ in Engg may give u a breathing space [Again same observation as for B] Its very tricky & damning for people with NO 90% in their CV (especially for CBSE & ICSE candidates).IIM-S --> It has a cut-off of 86.3% for Engineers (yes, absolutely stupid criteria, i know ) which alone disqualifies MANY.
GEM is the worst thing u can be for CAT!....if u don't score exceptionally well.....like the ordinary_guy

haan profile bi to solid chaiye for convert...

we can pm for more discussion

@Ammz If ur from Gen Category, I suggest you should target a score of 99.7+ to get a call from all the Old IIM's...
@Ammz Since your a female, You can use that to your advantage, Get a 99+ with balanced sectionals...You should get a call from all the 13 IIM's...ATB.
@Ammz As far as profile building is concerned you need have Certifications to backup your experience..
Ex: If your working as a JAVA developer, You need to have a SCJP or SCJA..

@liverpool9903 ohhh woooww... Dats great... Hw cum u knw dat m a cse student nd a java developer... By d way 80.6% would b give 2 marks or 3 in assessing profle score process?
@Ammz To be honest, that's a guess :D..3 mks this year...the criteria doesn't remain the same..it may or may not change.
@saurav.kgp essentially the idea is to remain focused. If you feel that your weak point last time was conceptual clarity then please go ahead and join a coaching institute. It is important that you understand where you are falling short and then make a focused attempt rather than simply firing on all cylinders without a blink.
If you however feel that you fell short because of lack of practice then the better idea is to rather go for targeted practice.

@Ammz At this point of time in your prep, My suggestion is, forget the criteria etc etc..
Work on CAT prep..ATB. !

@ranga89 I do not know if there is a b-school abroad where you would be spending 30 lakhs and you would get a job to recover it in 6-12 months. Highly unlikely (the investment will be much higher and so will be the living expenses)
At the same time shifting to india is not really easy. people who invest significant time and resources in going abroad generally stay there to earn and save something before they move back to india. moving back to india is not difficult if the company has presence here. but personal aspirations will make that move difficult.
Please tell more about your academic profile so that one can give you informed advice

@meetparikh try our adaptive practice at One52. you would kknow what are your weak domains. The idea is to actually understand where you are weak rather than simply start with something that your friends are doing.
