@missionCAT13@abhinavg86I am writing CAT 2013. So will work exp of 1 year with academic record make a huge impact.Rather i cud use all the 1 yr time to study and Score a better percentile.Would still advice me to go with working?...Thank you
Ya, I'd suggest you to take one year of work ex also.
@SKkundapuri i would again suggest you to work for this 1 yr.CAT needs hard work but not your life. You can ofcourse work and study together. When tens of thousands of people are able to do so why not you? Try to understand the situation I explained above and do take up the challenge to do both together.
A job will ofcourse help you giving insights about your employer, clients, business, technicalities, current trends in the market etc. who knows may be you will also get some CAT buddies there
It is not how the job will create an impact on you, it is about what maximum can you extract from the job.If you are passionate enough, you will gain more than your colleagues :)
So buck up ,don't underestimate yourself, and jump in the battlefield. You'll be absolutely fine.
Hey Puys,My profile :Xth - 84%XII th - 83 %Btech- 75.2%Work ex- 1.5 yr (I work for a state govt PSU (O&G; sector))I am an aspirant for CAT 2013 .. Is my profile good for getting into any IIM incase I manage a good %ile ??
Yeah Good but you may face some problems in getting calls from IIM-ABKS. :-)

as u said ur preparing for CAT-13 so i think instead of wasting your time on asking questions from other guys(who are himself preparing for IIMs or other b schools ) u should study now.(don't want to be harsh) but this is reality .because if some one even tells u that yes with this profile ull get get an iim call then still u cnt make it to iim if u didnt clear that cat %ile n for that u hve to study. so instead of wasting tym on such irrelevant discussion do study bro. it will be the ultimate answer to ur questions. Hello I want to improve my profile with extra-curricular/non-academic activities. I'm aiming for CAT '13, currently pursuing B.Tech 3rd yr. Suggest me with the same
Please if anyone can tell me : "Is IMS coaching good for CAT"... because it is the sole coaching centre available in my city... I tried to go through internet, but couldn't find any good reviews.
For FMS registration what is the "CAT 2012 registration number". Is it the same as "Order Confirmation Number/Document Number" printed on admit card of CAT? Please let me know ASAP.
@krittikau ims is nt at all good............i also joined ims for 2 mnths........the faculty there is misguiding the students . i also faced the same prob bcoz itz the only institute in my city . wen i asked him abt the number of ideal attempts in CAT he tld me to attempt only 12-15 ques per section......moreover he is demotivating the students also...VA faculty ws worthless......hardly 10 classes of VA were held during the entire duration of the course.......he also provided me with wrong information while joining the coaching center...........i asked him abt the number of students selectd in iims frm tht center............at the time of joining he tld me tht abt 12 students were selectd in iims frm thr bt latr i came to noe tht only 1 student gt selectd n tht too frm st category..........he cant even solve quant problems without the ims guide book.......n regarding DI questions wen we asked him abt the tricks of solving lengthy DI in the xam he simply recommended us to leave them rather than helping us in finding an easy solution to solve those problems........moreover the ims study materials r nt up to the mark......the simcats were good bt the standard of the study materials as compared to CAT is very poor...TIME is far better than ims........most of the formulae n tricks which were used for solving problems in CAT were missing in ims study materials...........TIME is the best coaching for CAT........i hd also joined TIME b4 ims n attended classes thr for abt 1 mnth .......aftr tht i hd to shift to another city n thr is no TIME coaching center in tht city so i hd no choice bt to join IMS.......bt i kept on solving the time study materials which helped me a lot.......so its my personal opinion tht dnt waste time n money in joining IMS . moreover the faculties in TIME were far better than the ims faculties

as per my experiences coaching are not that essential part of ur cat preparation. i am not saying it is vague or futile cz of course coaching classes provides u with dummy environment what ull going to exprience on ur D-day so go a head join that IMS it's good but above all spend time with urself alone bcz u need to study alone apart from coaching classes n all...>!1
hey...tarun here...i have 3.5 years of work experience....2 in samsung...i have decided to go for cat2013. but i am not exactly sure of the path that i need to follow. Should i go for coaching??...my percentage in college was not good at all. ..I am currently based in noida but have no qualms in going over to CP for weekend classes...Kindly suggest which option is better...TIME\Cl in CP or Byju's in noida....i am not comfortable in QA currently, but i have a feeling i can manage VA on my own....
also i would like to add that i did my B Tech from NIT but my percentage was below 60...although i managed to get a job then and doing fairly well right now too....:D..Will Institute's name be of any consideration??
1) you have a nice profile but your percentage could be a problem for most IIMs.Pls take out some time and check the criteria of all the IIMs generally they have a min UG score of 60 as eligibility criteria.
2) BYJU conducts demo classes , so you can attend them for free and make your own opinion
well, thats a matter of the past now....will have to look towards the future..
btw, i will have 5 years of experience when i join college in 2014....that has to count for something...will i be able to opt for executive mba then??...criteria for executive mba must be different than for a regular one...isnt it???
and what about the new iims??....their criteria must be a bit relaxed...and if i manage to score a very high percentile, maybe there can be relaxations....
my prep plan would be as follows:
1. byjus classes jan onwards
2. finish entire syllabus before june....QA\DI by arun sharma and VA\LR from TIME material. Also for VA, Norman and Lewis.
3. july onwards test series and mock cats.....thinkin abt 7-8 each from both time and CL.
