@abhinavg86thankswell, thats a matter of the past now....will have to look towards the future..btw, i will have 5 years of experience when i join college in 2014....that has to count for something...will i be able to opt for executive mba then??...criteria for executive mba must be different than for a regular one...isnt it???
yes slightly different. some iims need gmat score. i don't know the exact criteria for exec mba.
@tarunsingh said:
and what about the new iims??....their criteria must be a bit relaxed...and if i manage to score a very high percentile, maybe there can be relaxations....my prep plan would be as follows:1. byjus classes jan onwards2. finish entire syllabus before june....QA\DI by arun sharma and VA\LR from TIME material. Also for VA, Norman and Lewis.3. july onwards test series and mock cats.....thinkin abt 7-8 each from both time and CL.Plzz comment. will it suffice???
IIM Rohtak has 60 as min UG score..you need to check for other IIMs. there aren't any relaxations. All criteria in all IIMs are strictly followed without any compromise/relaxations.
But it looks very good that you have planned your journey. :)
taking TIME and CL test series is the right choice in my opinion. Go ahead and begin your preps

All the best.

Well everyone wants to get into the top 20 but only few get there so make sure your preparation is good enough to make your dream come true :)

@krittikau IMS or TIME or any other coaching are all same n nothing much varies as far as material is concerned.Get helped from them but rely.the ultimate prep/hard work is to be done by you only. Try to finish their prep material as soon as possible and move on to test series.
In your case, no other choice is left but to join IMS. So go ahead and start preparing asap.

Hii guys...I am new to PG and to lucknow for CAT prep, so i need ur help. I have to join a coaching institute. No idea about which is the best one !! Have heard about IMS/CL/SATYAM/TIME. I personally visited the CL centers , and didn't find it quite impressive (the faculty seemed very ordinary).
So please help me to start wid my prep for CAT 2013.
This thread looked quite relevant to me and so i am expecting a genuine guidance.
Thank you
@hablababla Hi one of CAT 2013 aspirants had asked me some questions and i had replied them accordingly. You may find the answers helpful. All the below opinions are purely personal.

1. Resources ?
QA -
Concepts - totalgadha.com, Arihant's Quantum CAT
Practice - TIME QA booklets, Arihant's Quantum CAT

VA-
Concepts - Arun Sharma, totalgadha.com, Manhattan GMAT for Sentence Correction
Practice - 1) wordlists daily
2)Arun Sharma, Pagalguy has separate forums on PJ,FIB,SC,CR,

Article/News readings: firstpost.com & economist.com (read articles from all sections philosophy to lifestyle etc.)

RC -
Concepts - Speed reading by Norman Lewis (a green color cover page book ),
Practice - nothing better than Mocks or some instt's sectional tests except that of TIME :P

DI-
Concepts - If possible try to get PT's booklets else no probs :).
Practice - 1) ratios 1 to 50, squares till 30, cubes till 20, practice 20 oral approx divisions like 23144/98327 etc. daily an 20 multiplication problems like 34.52 x 23.42 etc. (2 by 2 digits with decimals)

2)TIME mocks,sectionals,booklets

LR
Concepts - None required as such
Practice - TIME mocks,sectionals,booklets

To enroll any test series : enroll for TIME and CL (career launcher)

2. Time management ? Something like a weekly TT

Mon Number system - remainders
Tue Number system - divisors
Wed Number system - hcf,lcm+ some practice problems
Thurs Parajumbles
Fri LR 30 problems
Sat Mock test + mock analysis
Sun DI 30 problems + 5 RCs

@abhinavg86 thanx fr the great content. I am sure it would be very helpful. But i was more specific about the coaching center to join in Lucknow, as it is very important to have the guidance from the best institute along with the materials mentioned above.
I hope i get the specific reply soon !
Thanx guys !
I need some suggestion on appearing for CAT after taking a break in career (I had a child). Do the IIMs actually consider a candidate with a break in career? (Assuming the candidate scores well in the CAT Exam)
@ibad786 thanks :)

Ya they do, but you just have to justify your gap to PI panel.

@missionCAT13 sir can u plz tell me which insti material is best ??

i am planning to start my prep from jan ..

also tel some gud books which i must go for .
@missionCAT13 thanks :)
@hiteshpratap Its very hard to pick just one book. Each coaching provider has its own advantages. TIME has good Quant/DI/LR, while CL has good english IM.

You may need some support books for CAT apart from the standard study material

1) Total Gadha Number System
2) Arun Sharma or Quantum CAT for Quant
3) Normal Lewis Vocab book
4) Shakuntala Devi and George Summers Puzzle books

Sorry For D Spam..
@hiteshpratap hahaha, tera answer.. Rofl..
@jaydevk Pick one activity, any one sport and try to excel in that. Also, make sure that you are doing it not just to increase the weight on your profile but for something much more prolific like improving yourself in the process. Take it like a marathon, not like a sprint. Just my 2 cents. You can pick anything - sport like TT, Badminton, BB etc. or dancing, music, instrument. Just pick anything.
