SMU Commonwealth Hostel applications opens on 8th June. Those selected ones - applying?

Sadly, no prinsep hostel for MBA students.

Also this Common wealth hostel seems to be only for one term i.e. from Jan to April from the SMU website.

Can we find out where the current MBA students stay, which all hostels ?

I spoke to current students. They suggested to stay in hostel, because we have more updates on lectures and class related stuff, than when you stay aloof. Commonwealth hostels are fully furnished 2 rooms flat, to be shared by 4 people. Though a lil far from college, I'll take them.

Just to make sure I am not missing out on any thing...,

do we need to Mail (1) official GMAT score sent directly by Pearson Vue or a certified test taker copy will suffice (2) essays (errr..hardcopy?!!)

Did you guys Mail any other required supporting docs apart from (1) Transcripts of Undergrad, (2) Proof of payment, (3) copy of passport and (4) 2 photos ?

GMAT score should be sent directly by Pearson, in addition if you need you can send the photocopy of test taker copy.
You need to send your photocopy of your degree scroll.
Referee letters if not sent directly by your referee.

Just wondering, What is the avg GMAT score of indians who have got through?

My profile

1. 8+ into SAP consulting/Managerial.
2. 30 years Age
3. Knowledge of multiple languages including french.
4. Worked in Denmark and Manila for over 3 years in totality.
5. Only served famous international clients.
6. Won multiple acheivement awards.
7. Can get a Reco from a BU head whom i worked with in a project and a german who was my client.

I am writing my GMAT on the 12th SEP.Wanted to know what would be a good score to apply next year.Additionally am i little 'over aged'???/

Kindly help me answer this question.

Hi Cy,

First of all, you have an excellent profile and definitely not "over aged". With your experience, GMAT score of 650+ would be an icing on the cake. All the best for next year.

I'm yet looking for someone from SMU who has stayed/is staying in the Hostel.
Probably will go to college and meet someone there and post what I manage to find out. Meanwhile from what I was told from a student (who didn't get the hostel, being late in applying), mostly stay in Commonwealth Hostel.

Hello Cy,

To give you some idea. I have managed to get an admission for the Jan 2013 Full Time programme. My brief profile is as follows:
Exp: 6+ Yrs (Mostly in Software Quality Assurance)
GMAT Score: 660
Worked for a reputed Automotive Company

Therefore, I think you should be able to make it with a GMAT score of 650+ as GS said. Do make sure,
your essays clearly bring out your achievements in 8 yrs of working.

and i have gone through this thread bt found that nobody has applied or enquired about MITB(Master of IT Business- Financial Services)....

Hi I applied to this course gave interview and got through.SMU is good, its MBA is considered equal to NTU.MITB seems like course started only in 2008.
I like the course and career page on their site but the person taking my interview said people come from banking domain or do it part time while working in Singapore.Just skeptical about Full time batch and how many people from software enter this kind of course to switch over to Finance consulting.

Agree, its early. But I spoke with a current student, and he didn't get the Hostel because of unavailability (all rooms already taken up).
Although, this seems a new Hostel for PG students, but I didn't want to take a chance.

Guess in due course of time we can negotiate on the early payment part.

Having said above, I can assure one can get separate room of one's own at much less a price elsewhere. All depends on where one wants to stay.

I second this, SMU is a really reputable local university, people with MBAs from any of the local universities in Singapore won't have difficulties finding a good job in Singapore or any MNC for that matter. When I've enough work experience, I'll most likely be applying to study in SMU too.

I know a few people who use an MBA education as an opportunity to switch industry, a full time MBA gives them time away from their job to reassess their career path, so don't be surprise if your assumptions are true.
