Hi,

I will be joining SMU MBA 2013. I would like to share my SMU experience and info with pguys.

Current FT batch size: 35 (10-11 Indians). Most probably they will maintain the same size for Jan 2013.
Recruiters consider SMU at par with Other Well-Known Singapore Universities if not better.
Wharton business school designed SMU MBA. SMU is government sponsored/funded just like O W K S U.
Tough application process along with a video response.
Campus located in downtown Singapore
9to5 Internship of approximately 10 weeks after completing core modules and classes from 7to10pm.
12 month course duration with approx 10 weeks of internship. O W K S U offer same course in 16-18 months.
long-term, 5 year AACSB & EQUIS accreditation O W K S U got 3 years accreditations.
One of the best & passionate about teaching faculty members.
Can take up multiple scholarships (if you are offered)
Known for its interactive classroom study sessions. (Presentations, group projects and all)
application turnaround time: 25 days. unlike O W K S U.

I was following this thread and now developed a lot of interest in SMU. So, I am in for R-2. Do anyone know about the average salary ( not provided at SMU website) and howz the placement scenario other than Finance at Singapore. Is this thread following by any current student or alumni. Kindly furnish the picture for post MBA placements in oil & gas sector.

Hello Spriya2011,

I had a long discussion with the SMU team, the concerned suggested that one should apply in first round, though the chances of getting in are same for both the rounds.

the only difference of applying in two different round is that if A has same profile (gmat, work ex, academics etc) and applies in 1st round and gets accepted, the chances of B (with same gmat,academic background, work ex etc) might get reduced just because of time, so only diversity element affects chances in different rounds

@ Spriya2011: SMU follows rolling basis admission. last year they took 10-11 Indians from a total 35 students for their FT MBA batch. I think they might maintain the same batch size and class diversity. So irrespective of the round you apply in there are equal chances of getting thru. The only thing matters is how many Indians have they already admitted. The earlier you apply the better it would be.

P.S: It is highly recommended that you send a video response as a part of your application.

SMU faculty and admissions team might visit major cities in India in the coming months. Keep checking their website for the events.

The job sector is singapore is considered good only. Difficult to comment about one particular sector. What I have heard is SMU MBA placements are at par (if not better) with other well-known regional colleges.
