MBA is definitely not the only way to get out programming 😃 .. isnt tat obvious .. you can do many many things ..
you can even try things as weird as MITSOG 😃 ... if you are interested in finance etc .. you can opt for CFA .. or if you have interests in things like say Operations research etc . you can do MS/PhD etc ...
but MBA does open up your world ... but then only mba from a good school helps and getting into a good school is such a pain 😁
I am a 2008 engg graduate ...still waiting for company joining ... Have done a few short term technical courses and have some ( though negligible ) work exp.... not working newhere anymore...And also prepared for CAT (dissapointed here too coz dint cunt reach my peak due to very heavy work load ... cunt even glance at the CAT syllabus ). Now what I am apprehensive about is that it is already 2yrs since ... i have graduated but no signs of a job or a career as yet ...I had good enuff technical skills bt now that its been a long time .... all I can assure is I am not as good anymore. then again there are jobs but a mismatch to my profile , which some of us would back out from sooner or later.... or if u do ur skills get degraded. 😞 ... 😁 (Hope a work experienced guy would understand this)
1.) I have even envisaged of changing my field by doing courses like CFA
... but when I look at the cost it hurts a bit...coz already i spent on other courses but all in vain .... also u have to pay the CFA Test fee again if u fail .... that hurts even more...
Have heard u do get placed after doing a CFA? Would it help me fetch a finance reltd. job ?Or should I do the CFA course later .......... and look out for other avenues ? Whats the right time to start the course.?
2.)What are other fields apart from Technical n sales where I can try for jobs ... or that is it ...
3.)
Now the concern that comes to my mind is to go for job or go for field change and continue with CAT prep or do neither or none of them .
Sorry for the long story and list of questions...
but I really want to find a way out now, So Puys Suggestions and guidance Please!
PS: Surely Want to go for an MBA sometime , but currently things are hazy!

My second season 4 months of preparation;
CAT 09- 70.25% percentile
VA-63%;DI-71%;QA-60%
XAT-10 64%(was not well )
VA-85%;DM-58%;QA-32%;
i have very poor academic record i am fresher 7 months with no work i have applied to many company but there was response from other side.I don't know what to do should i give up idea of doing MBA or try once again coz my heart says that i can do it.In mean time what can i do to enhance my profile.I know my score really bad but i don't know what to do plz suggest me should i drop the Idea of doing MBA or TRy again

B.Tech: 67.16%(UPTU) passed in 2009

got a few calls but didnt join

I am not very keen in continuing this business due to various factors.
I am looking fwd for CAT '10 and will try givin my best shot in it.
The catch is that as i dont have any joining letter or pay slips.after all i am not an employee,its our own business.
i am very confused tht how much doing "own business" amount as a work ex in the gd/pi..
And also will the authorities believe tht i am involved in the family business as i have no written proof for tht.
what should i do?????

since you are still young .. here is what you should be doing ...
Join Wipro ... that will give you salary every month .. high/low isnt the matter .. you will get 12 months of work-exp .. by the next admit season .. which if not useful for ur mba call .. will atleast help u understand mba better .. then you can as well write gre in this time period .. try cat 2010 too .. you should be able to manage cat 2010 + wipro + gre .. if planned well .. like .. write gre .. in jul .. with mar-apr-may-june prep .. then write cat with .. aug-sep-oct-nov prep 😃 ...

not really sure if this is the right place for my query but here goes..i passed out in 2008 and then joined msc in VIT,vellore..dint find the course very useful so i discontinued...joined cognizant in november 08...wrked for 6 months..quit to prepare for my mba entrance exams ....but 2009 season was a total disaster:banghead::banghead:.got only 84.5 in cat and 87.5 in snap ..dint get a call from any of the gud colleges...so totally confused coz am literally in 'No Mans Land' now....trying for a management seat in sibm..but not sure if ill get it or if it is worth it...shud i apply for a job and take next cat...suggestions welcome...please help...thanks in advance...

plz take forms of PG from Welingkar,K.J Somaiya, N.L Dalmia in Mumbai. These are good colleges with good faculty and good placements & they accept CAT score. To get into Welingkar i guess u need more than 85 percentile in CAT.u can try for it.
thanks shivani..i hav applied to kjsomaiya but am from tamil nadu ...so there s no quota for me..so i most probably wont clear the cut off,,,coz the last years cut off was 90 odd,,,pls correct me if am wrong...

War_veteran .. quite a name .. 😃 ... Thanks .. but i do not like Finance also.. And yeah ... MBA entrances are quite a pain ... Gave CAT, SNAP, NAMT, XAT twice .... but in vain ... also gave GMAT but scored pathetically .... the major reason behind this faliure is that i couln't give much time for studies becuase of work
Now i am confused ... should i try this year again ... or continue with my technical job? becuase i am weakening in my technical skills due to time devoted for preparing for these entrance exams.

I am currently employed in a reputed software firm and have been working here for the past 2.6 yrs. My H1B has been approved and i have an option to go to the US. I also have been waitlisted at SIOM Nashik at Num 14 and there are very high chances of getting a call. I am confused and unable to take a decision. Is SIOM a better option ..... shud i give away the oppurtunity of going to the US on H1B....... moreover m really interested in pursuing an MBA..... please help me and share ur views regarding this......please post ur views about MBA at SIOM as well....

u should take the form of N.L. Dalmia institute of mgmt studies and research in Mira road, mumbai. It is one of the best college for finance with good placements.i think u wud easily get there for PGDBM which is approved by AICTE. u can also try at Mumbai educational trust (MET) in Bandra west, mumbai & Chetana in Bandra east, mumbai. These 2 are decent institutes having a good brand in the market. All these colleges accepts CAT scores and Maharashtra CET score. So go for it and try ur luck. Even i am a CAT aspirant and scored 91 percentile,no calls from IIM. I have got into IBS, Hyderabad. But in case i get Welingkar's i may drop the decision of IBS. I gave NMAT,XAT but nothing figured out for me.Awaiting for Maharashtra CET results. Trying to get into JBIMS through cet.
