One of my friends is pursuing his graduation in computer engg and he aspires to do an MBA in india or abroad and he has a KT in the 7th semester....he wants to know whether this might hamper his chances of making it into any premier mgmt insti in India or Abroad????
I don't know about his chances abroad but if he can manage a good score in CAT and justify his KT well enough, he shouldn't have much to worry.
Anyway, if he clears the KT in his final sem, it won't show up on his degree. This problem might only arise when he reaches the PI stage and people check his marksheets of each sem. So he just needs to have a good and convincing answer about it.
I have been following PG since 1 year and this is my first post CAT 08-32.33% percentile VA-22;QA-65;DI-27 XAT 09-34% VA-04%;DM-82%;QA-32% My second season 4 months of preparation; CAT 09- 70.25% percentile VA-63%;DI-71%;QA-60% XAT-10 64%(was not well ) VA-85%;DM-58%;QA-32%; i have very poor academic record i am fresher 7 months with no work i have applied to many company but there was response from other side.I don't know what to do should i give up idea of doing MBA or try once again coz my heart says that i can do it.In mean time what can i do to enhance my profile.I know my score really bad but i don't know what to do plz suggest me should i drop the Idea of doing MBA or TRy again
Hi... Following this thread from last three months...great work guys...I hope even i'll be helped out of swamp of confusion... Did my engineering in 2009 EC... Acads not great...arnd 80%..thrghout...(this is my secnd drop...1st aftr 12th) rght now unemployed...cant go into IT domain...frgt even C language..its been 9 mnths already(No Pun)...MBA 2010 was a debacle...appeared fr some bank Pos..this mnth only...
THE question is:.....even if I get selected in the very Frst BANk Po exam..(on the positive side of classical prob)...it will take arnd 8 mnths...cannt affrd 1 more drop fr obvious reasons?...
where shld I try?KPO...could think of only that....what else should I do 2 make my profile "decent" enough 2 hide this blot of 2 yrs gap..

if by KT u mean carry over or back paper in one subject(or whtever havin the same meanin) then ds will definitely affect in the admission procedure if not cleared b4 applyin to the colleges.
As it is a back paper in 7th sem,i guess(lyk wat happens in my univ) tht he will get a chance 2 clear it nxt academic year only.....
so in my view it would b better to giv an attempt to b-schools aftr clearing the back paper

dont worry much abt ur scores as dere is always a next time..... i will suggest first of all try 2 find a job in your relevant field(even if it pays less).i know it is easily said than done but it will add up as ur work-ex...
join a weekend batch along with job to improve ur basics for entrance xams,dump last scores out of ur mind and start afresh
Dont lose hope. If your heart says that you can do it. Then go out and do it. There are plenty of MBA colleges out there in which you can try.. i would suggest you to try for bank po/bpo/kpo jobs in the mean time.. there is no harm in working in such industries if you dont want IT profile..
Try to forget past, Gun for the future.. There are plenty of examples you can certainly do it.. i 100% recommend you to try for MBA exams next year .. but with a bit more confidence 😃 [ and please get a different username]
of course he would clear the papers before applying for the colleges.....what i mainly wanted to know is....since it is a backlog in the final year wud it in any way affect his chances of getting calls for GD-PI of any top insti in INDIA

i was placed in two companies ( DELL n cybernet) wid gud package s thru campus even in tuff recession times!! BUT DAD SAID I WAS TOO YOUNG TO WORK !!! SO advised me to do mBA!! ( prob meri life ki yahi hai ki i ve never had any direction in my life) \ so started wid IFT- scored 29 ( was ovet the moon cing the analysis!! and den came the result!! damn!!)\

First of all, why are you going for an MBA when you are clearly interested to work at this point? Why are you just worried about what your family thinks? How come you don't think about what you actually want?

And I don't buy the argument that you're too young to work. I myself started working at 21 and so did many others with me.
So first get your priorities right, try to follow what you want to do, and not what others want you to do. You'll automatically get your answers.

Problems only arise when you're not able to justify the reason of your gap. If you can convince the panelists with your answer, then there shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you do get a good CAT score, your chances of converting your call becomes even higher, because quite a few colleges do give weightage to your CAT score.
So just decide whether you want to work now or take up MBA. Either way, you would be able to manage.

What i believe Akash the first thing you need to build in yourself is self-belief. I understand you are really worried about your acads and future prospects and that is quite natural.
Lets look at it this way you are completely screwed up and nothing good can happen to you.Your future is absolutely doomed.....SO suddenly you start thinking "isse kharab kuch ho hi nahi sakta, ab jo bhi hoga isse achcha hi hoga" be however small.
So now start looking for job however small the company is, however low salary you get- but make sure the work ex counts (i mean dont join a BPO). I am sure you will get a job which pays you 8000 in a period of 1 month. And get this job without the help of any relatives; on your own credit... as a result you would start respecting yourself and your confidence will also boost.
After working for 1-1.5 years switch your job to a better company-simultaneously start preparing for MBA. After a few days you would have 2 positive aspects...
1. If you score well in any b-school entrance exam- achance to study in a good college. 2. A work experience of 2.5 years.
Now even if you dont make it to a good b-school then you can carry on with your job and always appear the next year.
Thus dont waste any more time, get up and get going.........
Thanks for advice.... I am trying my level best for a job right now and also doing my business side by side ..... Well the problem is that after All the doom hapend with me hardly affected my confidence and that is the reason I have started the business w/o any one's help and that worries me sometimes a little .....I am still doing business and making good clients every month... still I feel I need knowledge but you are right, right now I need experience.

I was working in one of the top three software companies in India and I was asked to resign when the recession hit IT nearly one year back. I have mentioned everywhere that I resigned from services. In the interview, if they come across the experience letter, there are chances that they may realize the truth. In the experience letter given by ex employer , it is stated in such a way that the request date for resignation as well as the date on which i am relieved is same , which is different in the normal resignation process. I would like to know what will be the best way of handling it. Do I need to say the truth that I am asked to resign.

I don't see any harm in you saying that you were asked to resign. Everyone knows what the situation was like, and most people who were asked to resign would say that they resigned themselves. So you could come across as an honest individual 😃 Think about it. What seems a negative point, could actually help you 😃
Hi puys I got 90.93 percentile in CAT (which was very much lesser than expected) and 95.75 in XAT in my first attempt for MBA. I am an aeronautical engineer working as a research fellow in central gov. company. I have one International research paper on my name. I got calls from colleges like GIM and SIMSR. Please suggest can i go for MBA, if i can convert colleges in this range or shall i go for another attempt.
