Hi seniors, I need some advice... I scored 91.72%ile in CAT, and have a call frm LBSIM & FORE.... this was my 2nd attempt, in the first attempt i lost out due to my QA section.......... Due to some personal problems @ home for the 3 months before CAT this year, i honestly did not get enough time to study... Somehow I managed to give my exam, & things turned out ok....
Now what I would really like you to guide me on is whether I should go in for LBSIM or FORE, or should I drop a year and CAT another try... cuz i really feel given the right circumstances I could do a better job at CAT... i've heard LBSIM & FORE r gud colleges, so should I accept to go there, or should I give another shot?
The reason why I'm asking this is coz I have my M.Com (Prev) exams which are clashing with the GDPI, so in case I decide to go for LBSIM's & FORE's GDPI, I would have to forfeit my M.Com completely........ so do you think I should complete my M.Com and then try for CAT next year.....??

Finish M.Com n giv CAT 10... Fore n LBSIM r gud coll but i think u shud go for b schools better dan dat...

12th - 49.5 %, got sm problem
B.E.(chem) - 61 %... july 2009
no job for 8 months....thr is a huge exploitation for b.e. (chem) trust me 6000 per month with 12 hour shift per day mns no chance of preparing(industry is generally outskirts so lots of traveling)... i was avoiding this as i want to do MBA...got bad score in CAT but little decent in MAT...
i want to crack CAT dis yr...but i am afraid my low percentage(specially 12th )...and no work ex. wld screw my chances..i am confused should i drop the idea... r go for sm BPO r take a job do it for 2 years and then think abt MBA r just prepare.......
it would be really great if someone could help..and pls i need sm practical advice.. not trust yourself and be confident...cause i trust myself but the circumstances are really bad...

ur XII th score is really low..
most of d top b schools do hav a cut off score for X n XII ( which is normally 60% n for IIM A its 70% dis year..)
so if u wanna join oly d top b schools (read top 10) den forget abt CAT..
but for other coll u can compensate ur XII wid a high cat score..
n for d job , pls take up some job which ll be counted as experience..( coz u need to explain wat u wer doin after grad to d interview panel )
let bpo be ur last option...

Thank you for your valuable suggestion. I would like your advice on another small issue. I have decided that I'm going to complete my M.Com and then try for CAT 10. I'd like your suggestion on whether I should just study for CAT and do my M.Com or should I take up a job to gain work ex? I mean if and when I do appear before a b-school interview panel, would it hold me in good stead if I said that I'd been doing my M.Com or would it be better if I said that I was working?

as of now i m 24 y old ,Am going to be a btech this year .. given that there are n=2 no of yearloss and with not so good prep for CAT09 this year , i managed 80.24 %ile i was expecting atleast 90%ile this year and filled many of them as well but since CAT disaster this year i m vacillating betn two options ,also what do guys think abt age factor.. i have no work EX as of now.... my Aim is to do MBA from premier colleges , good placement matters to me and college profile as well.
So what u guys will suggest me to do :
1] Gain work ex + CAT prep
or
2] MBA from some where

It all depends on you mate...... If you thinks that this is it and this is the best you can do then try to get admission in any college......take decision based on the fact that you doesn't regret it in future.......
If u r planning to drop a year for the prep than my suggestion would be to find a job and then try for once more........See IIM'S deserve that amount of desperation/preparation.....

Your first option is undoubtedly the best one....Go gain some work-ex and give your heart and soul to all MBA exams next year(CAT+XAT+FMS+IIFT+good ones)....Dude your work-ex would compensate something for those 2 years loss!!!

If you try to go for an MBA without work-ex, you would surely be asked a lot of questions about B.Tech and the extra two years. So my suggestion would be to get some job, work very hard for atleast a couple of years, and then think about MBA.
Without any experience, your graduation has the potential to ruin your entire profile. Yes, you can still convince people otherwise, even if you don't have work-ex, but that'll be a humongous task.

gain some work xperience n attempt CAT 10...
wid not so good prep u r able to get 80+ percentile den y not prep hard n get 95+ percentile n join a gud b school...

the nature of profile is as follows--Data analyst
1-reconciliation of data
2-looking for any variance in data
3-reasons for variance--
4-the HR told me I may have to use Macros..root cause analysis..etc(i have no idea about what these things are!)
while i am a fresher..this is my first job...in the next couple of years i want to do MBA in finance...
will such kind of experience be valuable? kindly comment on my nature of work.. how valuable will it be in during interviews in MBA (MBA FInance)??
this Kpo is not well know, the shifts would be odd and it also has many people from voice process(at the time of interview many people were thr for call centre interview..very few for the position i applied)..it had plans to come out with an ipo in US..well..the hr told me...but hasnt come out with it yet.

now i had a discussion we 1 of my frnd whos also in d same job in an another small scale comapany and got a cal from SCIT but got rejected..he told we people cannot get thru IIMs coz we dont have quality work ex or coz we are not from infy, microsoft or oracle...he added dat incase if we get a call we will be rejected in GD/PI coz we will get low marks coz of our low profile.
so my ques ..is it really dat we cannot get into IIM if dont hav work ex from infy, microsoft or such other biggies...???????

You can't do anything about your marks in 10th, 12th, grad etc., but you can surely do about your work-ex. The points that you get for your work-ex don't really depend on the place you work, they depend on what your work was, and how much you gained from it. So that is where you can score, you need to project it in such a manner that even they think that you've actually learnt something and would add a new dimension to the class.
I'm sure you would find countless examples of people working in unknown companies actually making it to IIMs. It's all about portraying your work-ex positively.

it is a wrong theory.i know a person who worked as a clerk in railways0anad got cals from BLACKI in CAT08.moreover hn is not from engg background.

plz take forms of PG from Welingkar,K.J Somaiya, N.L Dalmia in Mumbai. These are good colleges with good faculty and good placements & they accept CAT score. To get into Welingkar i guess u need more than 85 percentile in CAT.u can try for it.
