What does a backend(non-voice) job in a bpo/kpo mean ? Is it better than a voice process job?
Hi ...I am a 2008 (B.Tech) passout ..got selected in campus in IT major..joined in Feb 2009...put in server administration..initially liked it but then had to slog fr 12-14 hrs daily n offer weekend support also....could not concentrate on any other thing(no cat prep)..fed up with the job....
Now I am selected in MNC(i..) for testing profile....not yet given the offer.
I want to switch to the new company...but package is the same.
I have a bond of 50k to be paid if i want to quit my job.
I am in a confused state?
Any inputs from puys?
I would say you do not switch if there is no hike in your salary or change in your role; The best thing a person in IT can do if he/she is looking for a management career is to acquire as much as domain knowledge so that you can justify your work ex in the interviews. Manage a release from your current assignment and try to get into a project where you ll get ample time for your preparation!
If am not wrong its just IIM A which has the cutoff of a minimum 70 % in 10th n 12th...is that a overall 70 % minimum or you needa hav a min of 70 % in both individually /? (i hv 87% in 10th n 68% in 12th :-()
n wht bout other IIMs...??
n this consideration of past acads really sucks...!! :banghead:
Dont you think if sumone wishes to dream bout getting into a TOP IIM...he /she just cant becoz sumwher be4 5 yrs they screwed up an exam...!!
do you think IIMs are getting more n more into considering past acads...can we be hopeful tht this changes in the coming yrs :-(:-(
Hi Friends,
Been long time since my last visit at Pagal. Hope all are doing well.A friend of mine needs some help.
So here is his story.
He has done 1 yr PG Diploma from Symbi in sales and banking and post to that he has been working at a bank as Acquisition RM . He is planning to do MBA from Edith Gowan Univ. Australia, through BMA India . Please advise as to whether this appears to be a correct option or not. Is going for Edith Gowan locally after having PGD from Symbi a rational choice? He is apprehensive that since it is a local face of Edith Gowan and he has already done PGD from Symbiosis, it would reflect badly on his profile. Also, he is pretty much well versed with the nuances of companies/firms having been worked in sales profile.
Please do help!
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Can't help it. Thats the system. And its the same for everyone, so no need to feel sad. There is probably little chance that the system will change. On the contrary, its quite plausible that the IIMs will increase the weightage given to acads. See IIMs have very little alternative considering the fact that they have too few seats, and far too many applicants.
But no need to loose hope, whats done is done. Its best to focus on the future than to lament over something we cannot change.

Whichever job you take up, you're sure to learn from it and it's going to add to your experience. So don't think about which job is going to be more helpful at this point. Try to get the Job Description of both the offers and decide based on which interests you more and go for it. It'll surely help you.

Gentlemen, will someone please comment on my query too?
Which option is better?
1. 10-12k job slogging from morning to evening + CAT/XAT/JMET preparation
2. CAT/XAT/JMET preparation + Bank PO/PSU preparation without any job?

Although there's no fixed answer, as it depends on each individual, but according to me, the 1st option seems better, as you've got something to show for your efforts. But again, do what feels right to you.

If you can wait for another year and try again, it would be much better, because colleges offering admission at a score of 80 %ile in MAT won't be good enough. You should continue with your job and prepare harder to do better in CAT and other exams this year.
If however, you feel your job or work is coming in the way of your preparation, take a call and either leave or switch. Just take some time, think clearly, and then decide accordingly.

Yes, surely. Many people take up certification exams during their MBA and do pretty well too. Just check out the international CFA too. It holds higher value than the ICFAI version, although it's more expensive. Apart from CFA, you can also check out CFP and FRM.
Check all these certifications and after you study a bit of Finance in the 1st year, take a call on which certificate you want to go for.

I have been working in CTS from nov 2007.I am a Bsc. graduate (Electronics Hons). I am preparing for CAT this year and trying my best to get into top B schools. At present am thinking to quit my job and take admission for Msc in Electronics since my parents want me to complete master degree.
They are also suggesting me to prepare and concentrate on CAT and take admission in Msc. so that there may be option for me in side.
I am taking coaching from IMS and desperate to crack CAT.
Friends please suggest me wheather my decision of quiting job in July and taking admission in MSc is right ?
Will there be any problem in interview and GD/PI session if I score good percentile?

I don't think so. Either stay in the technical line by going for M.Sc or go for CAT, but I don't think it's wise to simultaneously go for both. If you're more interested in doing MBA, try to make your parents understand. You can continue working while preparing for CAT and other exams.
Thanks avinav,
But at present I am thinking to quit the job and will go for MSc.
My main query is will it create any problem in GD/PI as am not sitting ideal after quiting job.
My ultimate goal is MBA and at present am facing hell lots of problem in my project due to which am mentally disturbed and not able to concentrate properly on my studies.
Am afraid this excessive project work and conflicts in office may create prob in my preparation.Am not at all satisfied by the job at present. It has become a burden for me...
Am really in a fix.
Thus need some helpful suggestions from u people..
