But at present I am thinking to quit the job and will go for MSc. My main query is will it create any problem in GD/PI as am not sitting ideal after quiting job. My ultimate goal is MBA and at present am facing hell lots of problem in my project due to which am mentally disturbed and not able to concentrate properly on my studies. Am afraid this excessive project work and conflicts in office may create prob in my preparation.Am not at all satisfied by the job at present. It has become a burden for me... Am really in a fix.
Thus need some helpful suggestions from u people..
I'm very sure that you would be asked the question, why MBA when you're already doing M.Sc? Be prepared with a very good and convincing answer and I don't really think parental pressure is such a good one, even though it might be true. I'm not asking you to make up answers, an just not convinced that you're taking this route. Anyway, your decision.

i want to reply to this pls do not mind, actually i was in a similar position like u 3 years back, got a job with cognizant after b sc physics in calcutta, parents forced me to msc though MBA plan was very much on my mind , i did not join job and did msc(then recession came) but ultimaltely mba is my calling so i am back, i would recommend u to stick to the job than msc since anyday WORKEX is more important than an additional masters ( see if i would have worked i would have 4 years of ex) , also doing msc after 2 years job then again mba may not show a proper focus(completely my opinion pls pls do not mind ) . yes gap is taken negatively , if u do msc it will not be taken as gap , never but u shoud explain the link. if u r not happy with the project demands then can look for PSU jobs side by side too (again a personal opinion ) which may help if u r interested in MBA finance. ALl what I have said is just an honest opinion, pls pardon me if mistaken , i will hope others will pour in their view
Hi!!! I am in a state of dilemma right now. I have given CAT 2009 with no hopes of a convert now. I am planning to give CAT 2010 but i have not got a job in hand. I have completed my mech engg in 2009 and have work ex of 8 months in a mech company. Now the prob is dat if join a mech company then i will have to slog 4 10-12 hrs a day and i will be left with very little time 4 my cat preparation. so i am thinking of joining a bpo so dat i get time 4 my preparation. But i am worried dat bpo exp won't be count in top MBA institutes and also more importantly they will grill me on why bpo after mech engg. can I say in my interview dat I wanted time 4 my prep that's why I joined BPO and also I have improved my communication skills. plz advice me which will be a better option 4 me. my cat 09 %ile is 91.33.
I need some Finance/IT guy to help me out.....I'm in final year engg...I have a campus job offer from an IT MNC.....I really like finance and wanted to switch over to finance. I have already registered for the CFA Level 1 Dec 2010 exam....also taking a few NCFM modules presently....My dilemma is that I'm very sure I don't want to do IT and take up that job....I wouldn't mind doing a finance job with a smaller brokerage firm....i have a liking for M&A;/PE,etc....so that's my final aim....i plan to go an MBA from a top-20 program after 4-5 years...so can't rely on an MBA to help me switch over....
if i complete CFA level 2 by next June, I will definitely have brighter prospects..but till such time what should I take up?....Also, if I take up the IT job, my CFA prep might go for a toss...because they will have a training that will go on for a few months during which CFA prep will become impossible.....those who have gone through such a training will know this....
can somebody please throw some light on the various options i have

ur the rite person to judge ur aptitude...CFA is difficult to pass...if u think by taking a gap u can clear CFA, go for it..but keep in mind what if CFA is not cleared..then what will u do.. if u dont like IT..maybe give a PO exams side by side...even if CFA goes bad other options will be there to join... BTW IT is not that bad yaar...cool life..in most cases u get plenty time to prepare for mba..

which colleges are u targetting...be clear about that... i advice u get a job in mech co. (if u get 1) ...coz then ur 8 months exp will not get wasted....u will add on to that exp...this will help if cat 2010 and other exams and future exams dont go well..
if u join bpo and u think u can take time out of it for mba prep..i dont c nething wrong in it..dont be nervous abt interviews..if ur able to convince the interviewers it can be considered (it wont be unusual..many ppl go for mba coaching so that they get time for mba prep..)..most probably ur field changes after mba...
think clearly and calmly..hope things will work out...

hey...thanks for ur reply :)
well, if Im taking CFA I definitely have to pass the exam....no other option left....if I screw up now, things will worsen....many people tell me there's no time in IT at all..and a few say there's too much time.....that leaves me confused:lookround:
CFA can be managed with work, no doubts about that......but I dont know if it can be managed with the training period that these IT companies give...and even worse if that have it around the exam time...cuz the date of joining is still not known.......the PO thing that u mentioned is totally diff from what I want to do............and about my aptitude...well its good:biggrin: ....but if i divert my time between two things(studying IT and CFA), I dont really know how things will be....and clearly I don't want a gap..it will worsen things...wont it??...if Im ok with a gap why would I be in a dilemma?...I want to do something till CFA L2 completion(thats 1 year time)...preferably related to finance(cap mkt)....and thats my confusion cuz I dont really know where I can fit in...

if u know which IT co. ur going u def know the training period and when it finishes... the PO thing which i mentioned was in case u take a gap and give cfa level 1 and 2..in case u wont clear cfa and u give ur PO exams in the gap period(since u hv good aptitude u will def clear them)...after 1 year gap u can join the PSU banks(coz PO exams take almost year from advt of exam to written exam to final gdpi result) which will give u a headstart towards finance experience even after 1 year gap...

i suppose the training is three months...so if they call in august(which they said they would)...then ill be done by october...and will have onli november for CFA prep....dec 5th is the exam.....i think ill end up screwing up CFA....and if they call anytime after august it will clash with CFA exams....so theres no way i can think of that job, can i??
i never knew PO thing takes 1 year...does it?....what kind of roles do u get into after clearing it?....and whats the procedure...could u elucidate?

As far as aptitude goes I have a knack for marketing. So puys please help . All views are welcome as long as a reason is provided Thanks

BACKGROUND i finished my engg last june... didnt sit for campus placements... last time had 98 percentile in cat, 97 in xat, 200 in fms (cutoff 220)... but cudnt get a collg of my choice..
1 yr later i.e this time: i had both xlri calls 99.22 pecentile (rejected) .....iit delhi call...(awaiting results) 299 in fms (scores released)... cat....u know wt happened to cat results this time...
PROBLEM now u guys can see i have already wasted 1 good yr and droppin another yr is not at all a good idea....
assuming that i dont get selected in iit delhi... i have only 1 place to go....icici po.... so i can earn some work ex and then take mba exams later...
but the problem is... icici po has a training period of 1 yr....which i think is not counted as work-ex...(so anothr yr wasted) now after that some knowledeable person please tell me:
1) working environment around an icici po...i mean timings...amount of work.. nature of work (some say icici po is bullshit sales work) and will i get any time to prepare for mba exams...
2)salary is reported to be 3.6 lpa CTC...but what bout inhand component...some say its around 15000 (1.8 lpa) i badly need to support my family....
3)future prospects....as an icici po...at what intervals they get promoted and upto what level/position can they rise...are there any in-company exams to promote po's to senior levels...what is the general career path of an icici bank po...and salaries at these various general levels...
please friends...unbiased and true info wud help this soul no end...
i can then take an informed decision to either go wid icici po or a jobhunt elsewhere...
I got an offer at E & Y as a Tax Analyst with a pay package of 1.5-1.8 lakhs ( still not told by them ) after completing my BBM from Christ College Bangalore... I Also got into Alliance Business School and have paid 50k to book my admission.
I obviously did not prepare for cat/mat/snap etc but still managed to get a fairly decent Mat score.
My Question is should i join Alliance, finish my MBA and then get a better position & a better pay or should i work @ E & Y ?
Also, if i do work @ E & Y there's a possibility i might never do my mba for i happen to be one of those who likes to stick to organizations nor switch them every now & then.. please advice thanks

Don't go for alliance and tax analyst position is good if you like good moolah and can handle mundane stuff. and tax analysis is a gold mine growing sector so best of luck if you want to stick with it.
I am planning to prepare for both CAT and GMAT next year. I just wanted to know your suggestions how I should approach the next few months? When should I ideally give my GMAT? Do I have enough time to prepare for essays and interview for B schools ( GMAT ) for next season. And yeah , how much of an overlap of preparation will be there for both CAT & GMAT?
I have already given CAT twice . I have a fair idea of what it is? But about GMAT no idea...
Let me elaborate you further.. My CAT preparation for next year would consist of taking TIME-AIMCATs and analyzing them extensively , practicing some quant and Logic problems from TIME Material and doing intensive reading on diverse topics. But I have no clue about how to approach for GMAT while preparing for CAT simeltonously.
Here is my profile
