Surely its work-ex would count. If you're interested in it, go for it.

Actually this rule wasn't in place till a few years back, but was introduced as such comparisons tend to become ugly, with many people fiercely campaigning for an institute. For this very reason, it's advisable that you PM some seniors.

Besides, what might be good for a person, may not necessarily be good for you, as each person has different needs and expectations.

Now can anyone of you tell which is a better comapny to join as a fresher ( IBM or INFOSYS ?) .. iam not interested in WIPRO and TCS ....
Also i will be preparing for CAT . so from that perspective also i need some feedbacks as to which option is better ..
Thanks in advance ..

Hello Puys.
I wanted some advice from your side.
I will be graduating as a Computer Engineer from NMIMS University in May 2010. I have been placed at Accenture through Campus Placement.
But i have an opportunity to work as an Junior Commodity/ Equity Trader in Ariston Capital, a boutique investment bank.
I have less inclination towards coding and other technical jobs.
1) How would you recommend me joining Ariston as a Junior Commodity/ Equity Trader in lieu of Accenture(Assistant Software Engineer) ?
Also the CTC being offered is 2 lacs that is very less in comparison to that being offered by any other company.
2) So what would you suggest should i go for a brand name like Accenture or go for a non-technical job in Ariston ?
3)Will my experience of 1-2 years at Ariston be more valuable than at Accenture or Vice-Versa ?
4) Will working in A boutique investment bank like Ariston for 5-6 months give me a exit options to the bigger guns of the industry like JPM,Nomura or something like Futures First. I see that In Ariston I will be trading only In India n Markets so will it add any value which might be useful in switching towards Future First etc.
In anticipation of your reply.
Thanks.

Hi all,

Please excuse me for repeating this question of mine as i have already posted about the same on my Institutes thread

I have posted a similar post some time ago and have recieved gr8 support but was somehow not able to deal powerfully enough with those inputs result being, i am unable to move ahead with the issue at hand .

I have a final admit confirmed for PGP @IIMC and I am working in an IT firm and i have resigned in the first week of April. After i had my results i had updated the HR of my company about my result but all that he said was that he can give me a weeks leave and then come back and serve the remaining notice period without extending my last day. My last day as of now is in the second work of July.

How i am trying to work around this problem is by approaching my Manager, Project Director, Vice President as of now and the only hope/dampener that i have got so far was from my Vice President who said that we shall address this issue at a later point in time as he said the situation is quite hot now with all the attrition.
I have been briefed about the alums of IIMC in my company through the seniors over PM and i did get in touch with one of them and have fixed an appointment with one of them next week as he is on leave till then.
Friends, what i am seeking through this post is some help with regards to finding out if there is anyway out of this issue.

The common underlying argument put forward by all the people in my organization as to why they cannot me as an exception to the rule is that people will follow stead and cite similar reasons.

I am just idlying my time now at office as i do not have any work and am not even billable but still they just wouldnt release me.

I was considering going to media, press or even to court for the same but i myself am not totally convinced about exploring these are options and their respective pros/cons.

Please throw some light on this issue and let me know how i can handle this case. As of now i am not even contemplating on starting late with my classes and i do not want to do the same.

I have an IIMC alum on the board of directors of my company whom i feel could definitely have a say on these policies.

Please PM me for the name of the company i am referring to and the name of the ALUM on the board of directors who can be reached somehow

I am really sorry for such a long post but was just hoping to put my case across in B & W

Thanks a lot in advance..

Hi puys,

I wanna ask which is a better option--

1-I prepare for quant,DI for CAT and verbal for GRE and give GRE in august2010 and CAT in dec 2010 (along with other things, will the application process also affect the CAT prep?)

2-I prepare only for CAT this year, give CAT in dec 2010 and then prepare for GMAT and GRE after dec and take GMAT and GRE in aug 2011 and continue with the process of application after that

2-I prepare quant,DI for CAT and verbal for GMAT and give GMAT and GRE in august2010 and CAT in dec 2010

Pls help as I am quite confused about it.

Hello man, indeed you are very confused it seems..

But tell me something, why do you want to give all 3 exams? That too, when the GRE and the CAT are for two different purposes altogether.

I think it will be better if you follow one target, rather than three. And give your all in it. It will help you to focus. Ask yourself, do you want to do MS or an MBA? Which is your first option?

After that, decide whether you want to opt for CAT only, or GMAT as well. If you want to pursue your education outside India, you need to focus on GMAT.

I suppose you are thinking that you will take your final decision depending on your result. But I feel it will be better if you decide before-hand as to what your inner desire is.

Another thing, CAT is probably the toughest exam to clear amongst the three, so its better to give your entire focus to it, if you are planning to give it. It may be difficult to supplement your GRE preparation along with CAT.

In that case, option 2 seems feasible to me.

Maybe if you feel that your CAT score is not good enough, you can opt for GRE or GMAT later. However this is one quote which I like-'A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.'

All the best..

I quickly did a search on job opportunities for graduates with minimum 50% and there are quite a number of options available. I am assuming that by symbi you mean SIBM/SCMHRD. In that case, I believe you might be able to get a decent placement provided you ace your MBA course and build a good resume with enough extra cariculars etc. Also review the list of recruiters in the college that you are planning to join and check their slection criterias, you can probably check with some seniors in your college to get some info around this

There are definitely firms (PSU banks included) who recruit people with 50% or above in graduation. So stop worrying (I know it is easier said than done but..) and work harder to make up for your graduation marks in your PG

Hi guys ..

i will be passing out in a months time from a premier engg college(faculty of engineering, jadavpur university ,kolkata).my marks in graduation(bachelor of electrical engg) are very less (around 69-70%).my class 10 and 12 marks are 92.6% and 90% respectively(board icse).due to my abysmal graduation performance which apart from consisting of low percentage is very inconsistent as i have scored high in some sems and very low in others i feel getting in to a premier engg college will be difficult .i cant change my 4 years of engg marks now.but i do aspire and also belive that i am good enough to study in a good B-school (like the IIMs ,XLRI,FMS,etc).i will be going for a job with a core company (mcnally bahart engg) where i will be working as a project engineer holding designation of associate manager after my training.

my query is how can i make my profile better now that i have screwed up my graduation.what can i do to add something extra to my profile.i am sure i will be able to crack CAT sometime or the other.and i am going to be truthful in my interview that it was my mistake that my performance in graduation was not satisfactory and i took things too easy.but i want to convince them that i have taken corretive measures and have worked hard to prove that i have it in me and have tried to rectify my mistake and have not given up.plz guide wat academic,extra-curricular or any other step i shld take .i have joined rotary abt 3 months back.i am going to learn a foreign language from next week(french).is there any course which gives a diploma i shld pursue to add something more to my profile.plz suggest cos i dont want to give up my dreams for the mistake i have done .thanks a million to all of u

Satwinder, Thanx for your reply ,but it's like CAT is my 1st preference, then GMAT and then GRE ,so, I intend to take all three. So,please anyone suggest me should I cram wordlists to be able to take GRE/GMAT in aug2010 in addition to CAT in dec 2010 or should I simply take CAT (thus not wasting time on wordlist) this yr and postpone GRE/GMAT to next yr?
