I am an MCA passout from a good institute and having the 4.8 yrs of IT exp as software engineer.My age is now 29 yrs and SC candidate .I want to switch to some managerial role not technical. I dont like to do coding an all.I cant see what will I want to be in next 4-5 yrs with my current job. I cannot see any growth in IT industry if I dont like coding.
Sometimes I think better I prepare for IT jobs in Govt. But dont know what be the growth and how I will survive in Govt job with little salary and only with job security and 'peace' wala 9 to 5 job..
I want to do full time 2 yrs MBA from IIM or IIT bcoz I cant afford executive MBA fees with my current saving as NIL.
My profile is very bad also..
10th 55% wb board,
12th 54% wb board,
Bsc IT 75.27 % SMU and
MCA 6.9 CGPA from NIT.
I am an SC candidate also.
I want to know that If i score good in CAT 2013 can I able to make it to any good IIM/IIT/FMS with this profile.I am really not worried about placement and I Can manage of my own.Just want to work next 30 yrs in a profile where I can able make some sense as now not making any sense in coding.MBA is the only way which help me to switch to managerial role or if u have any other option plz guide me.

Bro this community is working over faith and co-operation. Here are people who are fighting with CAT for 4-5 years and some are those who used to be fighters, who won the CAT and are here to help us. It is neither possible nor practical to cross check all claims, but from my personal experience if someone would need to cook up a fake call he will do it on FB bt not on a serious preparatory portal like PG to do so. Finally it depends on your pragmatism to get the best out of here.

PG gives the coveted B-School TAG only on receiving mail from official mail id of b-school and therefore make sure before you heed advice, you look for that tag.

That is why it is "pagalguy" be the part of this madness, keep faith and you will see the magic. Here are some people who can calculate faster than computer and some guyz with whom Wren and Martin still concern over grammar. The point is that how much can you get from them.

Winners can never be declared before fight get over. Different B Schools have different filters to get the student as per the demands of the recruiters and classroom learning. Get rid of marks phobia and focus on exams. It is secondary.

Puys.... I'm currently doin my mba from one of NITs ..... Problem that i'm goin to discuss is both personal and college related ....
First of all..... i state that my primary concern for doin an mba frm NIT wz .... ofcourse ..... to get into a PSU ...... to be specific, the coal india ....
but after comin to ths college i found that coal india wud no longer come to any of NITs.....
thn ... 2nd most important factor wz that the faculty for this particular college (as promised) were mainly from IIM and IITs ...... But after coming to this college i found that too was only partially true .... we have 7 subjects in total per semester, but out of that, for only 2-3 subjects thr were such faculties..... for rest of the subjects, faculties are juss BELOW PAR .....
And 3rd.... even worse ... the placement cell here is LEAST INTERESTED to bring in any of private comany.... so that atleast few of students cud get placed ....
Apart frm that .... Thr is HUGE and unnecessary politics going on in the college wid faculties, and even co-ordinator involved in ....
all ths juss demotivates me further and i've lost my flair for studies here ....
plz suggest my experienced and senior puys ..... wht to do .... and how to tackle such a situation ....

@maichel.ed Are you in the first year? Had you posted this before, I would have suggested you to appear for CAT again and take admission somewhere else. You took a very wrong approach in choosing a program (placements, that too in a particular company) without looking at the overall picture.
However, in case you are continue at this NIT, try to make most out of whatever you have. Read books on your own. Go for inter-bschool competitions and network with people there. Also, try to start looking for live projects/internships (even without pay) so that you can gain some real experience. Do not depend on your college if it can't provide you with these things.

Hi,a CA myself.........Good to see a CA trying for IIM.
Pass CA in first attempt(all stages) so as to get a proper offer during campus placements. Work for a few years .Try to score over 80pc @graduation (usually difficult in most b.Coms)Prepare for CAT,GMAT,XAT along with office(after being CA).It would be better if you have international certifications like ACCA,CFA,ICAEW,CFE,CFP,Actuary,CIMA etc (i wouldnt advice CS:but CWA is good) by the time, you give CAT.
Just for practise sake, you can start giving CAT after completing CA itself. For now, your concentration should be to clear CA in first attempt.
@divya_chweet Complete CA in first attempt and try to bag a plum job. That shall convinse your parents not to get you married ,so early. Work and save money for your MBA, then.

thanks a lot sushant sir for replying but i think its too late now , i am in ca final with attempt in may 14 , scoring 80 % in du sol is more difficult than scoring rank i guess, i know a guy who had 70 % and he was the university topper ,.. i am not even first attempt 😞 cleared ipcc in second attempt . now my focus is on getting a rank so that i can cover up my previous sins and stand a chance in iim .

I am working in a Cmmi level 3 company where salary is too less and in addition , the work is also not gud. I wanna quit my job but there is a bond of 1 year, so wat should i do, 5 months have been passed since i am working there. Please Senior Puys Suggest Me what should i do.

You can get C & L if you score high enough which is usually 99.5 %ile or more

With 65 % in BTech, i personally do not think you have any chance of A, B, I, K ever.
You can get into C & L if try for CAT again and score 99.5 +
As for other colleges, you should ask more seniors, or post queries on the threads of the colleges you want to apply to

It will certainly help you in your quant and di preparation for CAT.
As for valid experience, yes it can considered so, since you are working for a paycheck (i assume you do) and also you are contributing your knowledge and learning from other senior faculty about how to mentor young aspirants (i assume you are).
Also, on a related note, i wonder why you quit the manufacturing sector. I come from the same, and i can tell you that manufacturing experience is respected by b-schools

you dont have to think on it so much.
You have to make a choice between easier CAT prep and good learning experience.
Even if you join the manufacturing sector, i suppose you can still devote 2-3 hours a day to study for CAT.

I appeared CAT for the first time, I have been shortlisted by IIM K for stage 1 and would probably get calls from IIM Rohtak and IIM Kashipur. I have good academic record and currently working in a software company and getting a decent package 6-7 lacs.
work ex-27 months.
I wanted to know if I shud join new IIMs or not and also If I shud prepare for CAT 2013 for getting calls from IIM ABC L?
I am not able to decide what is best for me, I am interested in doing MBA from top IIMs but not sure if this the best decision. Please help
