@vinnusadhu Don't get dejected buddy! This is not the end of the road or your MBA dreams. This was only your first attempt. Read through the thread "All I Wanted to Speak about CAT" here in PG and you'll see true dedication/perseverance (or simply said pagals! :mg: ).

You are also very young now. Your acads are also good to target some top B-Schools like IIFT, MDI, NITIE etc. which give less weightage on past acads. Why not try once more in the next MBA exam season? You can also do job hunt in parallel, and engage in some other activities like contribute to an NGO, do some internships/live projects (Check letmeknow.in & letsintern.com) etc. in parallel while preparing for CAT '13 and other exams in 2013-14. Do think on this. "Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost"!!

Hi,
i completed my BCA in 2011, i wanted to see what IT had for me hence opted for a TESTING profile in telecom company, worked there for 16 months @ 3 L/annum.
i resigned in october 2012 and prepared for entrance exams,
i scored 70%ile in CAT 2012, 73%ile in SNAP2012. This season went in vain...

i wanna get into one of the top 20 colleges or MBA is nt worth it for me..

nw i have 3 options:

1) go back to TESTING domain and prepare for 2013 exams.
2) sit at home , prepare for 2013 exams. (considered as year drop? cons of year drop?)
3)do DBJCC from DU as it is related to business communication and that is exactly what i wanna pursue from any b-school.

i am primarily focusing at MICA, i wanna go into marketing, brand management to be precise..
will doing DBJCC(1 yr course) close the doors for other colleges for me??

please reply..

thanx in advance @ajaygovindg

@jack069 I'm not aware of the details for this DBJCC course from DU. But I would recommend the first option that you mentioned and aim for MICA next year. Maybe an alternative to that would be switch company if you're not happy with where you are now. Sitting at home is not recommended and that too when you have more than 1yr left before next batch 204-16 classes start!! You'll have a tough time convincing the interviewers that actually you can multitask (one key requirement from an MBA aspirant/grad)!!

By the way if you apply to MICA now, irrespective of your scores you'll called to appear for MICAT. So give it a try if you can make it through this time itself!!
@ajaygovindg sir, will the regular diploma(DBJCC) too be considered as bad as sitting at home??
DBJCC : diploma in business journalism and corporate communication..

and yes i am preparing for MICAT 2013, hoping for the best.

Guys..............Need ur help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am presently working as an auditor [Railway Audit] @Principal director of audit, south central railway, just 5 km from my home. [Hyderabad, AP]
Got 376 in CGL 2012 and had a gud interview.....Expecting preventive Officer [Tamilnadu]
I also took XAT on 6th Jan, 2013 in which I might get around 95%le [checked various keys]I am trying to do MBA from a top B-school since 3 yrs n everytime missing it by a whisker.
This time, aimed for XLRI, but might not clear sectional cutoffs, thanks to verbal section's unreasonable complexity.
I think I might get TAPMI this year, which has pretty good infrastructure, faculty n placements. I am tired of taking another MBA entrance test. But the fee of TAPMI costs around 12Lcs and I am not from an "Aam Aadmi" family.I am in a dilemma whether to go for MBA or to continue with Audit [home state] or take preventive officer job [Chennai, around 600km away from home].
Auditor Salary - 26k per month
Preventive Officer Salary - 36k per month
Avg salary @ TAPMI - 7Lc per annum
Though a bit lengthy post, plz take it as one of the decision making questions of our entrance exam and try to give in the best possible solutions
Thanks

Hi , I have around 3 yrs of experience in major telecom compny. I wanted to go fr MBA as as there is not much growth and scope in my current profile (pkg arnd 4lkh) .I gave CAT this yr , bt managed to get a percentile score in 70s .Not sure if I shuld apply fr colgs of TAPMi level or shuld opt for Executive program after 3 yrs of exprnce.Could anybdy help me with it, and if possible please share the good colgs names running executive program after 3 yrs of exprnc.

@Gr8dEsTiNyAhEaD I think you should go for Preventive Officer.

After all the efforts I ended up with a not so good cat result....applied to nift fashion management because of the creativity and proper blend of fashion and management....i want to do an fpm course from IIMB...but cannot make it this year because of a very little probability of getting selected....so if i graduate from nift in mfm....is there a specialisation i can opt for ....something that will convince the IIM that my 2yrs of nift did not go to a waste and the course is somehow related and enhances my future prospects towards research in management...

My result
Overall : 95.86
Quant : 91.42
VA : 95.98
SSC : 91.4 (CBSE)
HSC : 92.4 (CBSE)
B.Tech. : 65.7%
Category- Gen

what are my chances for IIMs? Suggest any other college? Pleaseeeee reply?

Hello

I am currently working in Cipla (loan license representative) since the last six months, It is basically kinda management and quality assurance combined.

My career is as follows

10th 82.5% (2002)
12th 76.5% (2004)
B.Pharm 82.1% (2010)
M.Pharm 83% (2012)

I am currently 25 years old, would it be wise to prepare for MBA. Though I have work experience would my career in Pharmaceutical sciences, my age and 2 years gap after 12th act as a deterrent in placements.
Please guide me.

hi..

i am currently working with my father in family business. what kind of experience proof should i get for that??
@aparna28 Get an experience letter from your father(company letterhead)

Hey,

please suggest what IITs can I apply at this score?
CAT OA: 88.63
QADI: 90.1
VALR: 81.6
10th : 88.31
12th : 80.60
Grad: 71.15
@niknikme55 I'm not sure if you'll be shortlisted for GD/PIs by any of the IITs B-school at this percentile unless of course you're from reserved category.
@amp1987 Your career in Pharmaceutical sciences would be an added advantage for you. Your age would not matter much in any b-school's GD/PI. Your 2 years gap after 12th would also not matter much in getting convert from any good B school but then it would matter to some of the companies during the placement season.
@topgun741 To be very honest, there's a little chance of you getting the calls from IIM A,B and K. Rest C and L looks possible if you score more than 99%ile.

@kidrow Yep all correct except few things:1. Top 15-20 institutes and not beyond that.2. I do not have any "credentials" to boast of in guiding you except having been acquainted with MBA & admissions for past 6yrs and having done an MBA myself & having good network to know what's happening in other institutes (just overall idea and not last mile details). So I'm not sure where you want to put me - with those others you spoke with or separate!! 3. Yes, you can leverage and use your entrepreneurship experience to explain how you've learnt the practical aspects of business and how you can contribute in group work, assignments, projects etc. and be a team player at the same time be a leader in certain aspects also.Do consider the 1yr and Family Managed Business programs also. All the Best.
Thanks a million. Sorry I couldn't reply earlier. But the delay doesn't mean that I don't appreciate you taking the time. You've helped immensely & I'm extremely grateful for that.

Hope I make the right choices now, 😛 . So long!

Sirjee , these days C also sees academics but to a lesser extent 😃 99.7+ is a must for this profile
@amp1987 I would suggest you continue working for some years and then do a 1 year MBA
