@ashmole2009 I would suggest you look at ISB only if you want to study in India.

Is that for the obvious reason ISB is the only school with international educational standards?
@ashmole2009 Yes. And the fact that it is AACSB accredited. Also, each year they have some foreign students. So they are more experienced in teaching and placing such students.

Thanks mate. This probably goes without saying, but a foreign Masters (done from the likes of CASS etc) probably hold little value in the Indian workplace compared to local MBAs like MDI. Would I be right in assuming that?
@ashmole2009 Very true! I know multiple people from top tier universities in UK and US not finding jobs in India after their masters from foreign universities. They had to settle for low paying jobs here. The (sad?) truth is that Indian companies value top tier Indian degrees more than foreign degrees. That said, a Harvard, Wharton or Kellog MBA will definitely get recognition.

Hey, could you elaborate on some of these examples of people you know with foreign degrees a bit further? Just curious, thanks.
@ashmole2009 Sorry, can't point out schools like this on a public forum. But they are ranked

Would you mind if I PM'd you mate? This information is quite crucial for me as I am considering a European Masters with the possibility of working in India afterwards.
@korepankaj Talk to the seniors/alumni of these schools to see if they meet your aspirations. Otherwise try to look for a job and take the CAT again after a year or two. We cannot judge whether you will 'ever' make it to the top 30 as we don't know you. The best person to judge is you. If you think you can make it, don't settle for anything less.

Ok !!!
Was searching a thread named LOSERS. Didn't found it. So I guess I am quit alone or people like me are just living a rat like life.
I have just 78.xx in 10th 73.xx in 12 th (science FYI parents were proud I took science. Everyone said They have all the opportunities {still to find any one single }) .
Completed my engineering in 2012 from little known college in delhi (IP university). Have NO JOB. sitting idle at home. (mom screeming at me all th time 😛 )
I had aspiration from MBA like it is going to be my redemption from all the struggle and losing that I have faced in my entire life. But as it turn out it ain't.....
Got 83.28 in CAT (2 hoped college FORE IB or LBSIM borderline case) but with the present scenario I know I don't have chance of call even if I get impossible to convert :D
Got 224 in CMAT 2100 rank, thought would get into GIM but as it turn out that is out of reach too. Only last thing left for me if Feb CMAT
Even if I promise my self that I will work hard and get good rank there will be something back of my mind always screaming "YOU ARE A LOSER Vaibhav " You are born to remain in this filth no matter what you do.
Have no hope left I guess.
No sympathy pls and no likes pls humble request.
Message to all the aspirants who ever ponder to this post
Don't just get drawn to this MBA because there are people who are scoring great marks and then landing up in great B school. These happy FORTUNATE people are just tip of they big ice burg there all lot those below 70 or 80 perc who will.. fail Yes you will FAIL !! there are only limited and few who will go there and the fact you searching this thread it self proves you are not that much into MBA. So BEWARE !!!!!
On the result day of CAT my mother called frnds and family and said I have cleared CAT (and I had no idea what did he meant by that ) and I thought atleast I have 2 college at my disposal in delhi. FORE and LBSIM. and there was a chance a SIBM Bang at 85.58 but as it turned out No there is No chance.cut off is 90 perc. Haven't filled SIIB so clearing its cut off doesn't mean a thing :D.
To be continued ..(If I come to PG again)
have this problem in concentrating for long time. Can't concentrate .......
till then ATB to you all. May all of you be happy.
Bye

Could u also suggest other mba entrance exams with 44% graduation marks?

@korepankaj yes u can do prep harder in cat 2013 i got 68 in first 81 in second and 96 percentile this year
@sb29
Help please....i got a mere 73 percentile in cat 2012 and have finally made up my mind to chase the cat again in 2013...
I am in my final year now and i dont think it is possible for me to find myself a good job in the meantime...it is highly likely that i would end up with a mediocre job ( mediocre meaning a very low profile job ) ...I am a bit worried because my parents would not allow me to join such a job..i have other pg options which i dont even want to consider and they want me to join a pg rather than goin for the job......
so finally i just wanted to know if there is some other solution to this than a job...how do i spend an year of my life without having to face a problem justifying it afterwards....please help ....any type of answer is welcome....

Puys,

As i am typing this i am totally frustrated with how the last 13 months have turned out to be. I started out preparing for CAT 2012 in last january . Owing to the long commute from my home to office, i couldn't join any classes. I had taken XAT in 2011 , which was nothing short of a disaster. Anyway my preparation were going kinda okay and i took up the AIMCAT series from TIME. It was my first attempt at trying to bell the CAT . I decided to play safe and appear for all the Management entrance exams : CMAT , CAT, NMAT, IIFT , SNAP and XAT in that order. Sometimes we are quite close to reaching our goals and yet we are near the cusp of it. This is quite so in my case. CMAT went on very well and i got AIR 298. As much happy and buoyed as i was about my short success or so at that time , the pressure was slightly lifted of my back. I approached CAT cool headed and barring a few nervous minutes in the beginning of the first section the overall experience was okay. I ended up with 93.90 ( General , Male , Engineer and IT ). Bingo u got it right, i am stuck in the in between Zone. NMAT was more or less the same. I ended up with 201 and a Call from PGDM bangalore which i am not interested to take up. IIFT was another heartbreak as i was quite near but not yet there as i fell 2 marks short of the cut off at 47.75 !! SNAP was not kind to me lol ,i ended up with 93.844 and didnt get any call from SIBM pune and scmhr pune ( the ones i had applied ). Finally to top it all the disaster came in the form of XAT. i ended up with 53 percentile and a broken heart 😞 !!!
I am not sure about the path that i am gonna take this year, bt sometimes life has its own way of getting back at you saying " Not so fast brother, u still have to bear for sometime"

Hi Puys...

Here I am again in the same or a little bad situation than previous year...

Last year, I got calls from many top colleges like IIFT,NM,XL but could not convert...I was frustated and thought it was all due to my bad acads and IT job, I changed my job and currently I am working in Public sector bank as PO. But, this year, while training, I was made to travel so much that I could not study and prepare at all except giving two mocks...

I appeared in cat and ended up getting 94.48...I dont know what to do next...some friends are suggesting to do MBA from whatever college I get this year...but back somewhere in my heart I know that i can do better if I prepare; i want to give one more shot.

as, I have got permanent posting and will not travel much dis year....

I am thinking to even quit job if I could not prepare due to scarcity of time after June.

Puys..please suggest what should I do...I have 2years IT exp(TCS) and now 7 months in bank.

Will the exp in public sector bank as PO after IT be a hindrance in admission interviews of MBA and even in placements after that....should I join some college this year only??

If I quit..say after 3 or 5 months....will it be better as I will be more focussed in my preparation..getting leaves here is really a big problem...

Please suggest me...

I am confident of clearing OMETs next year if I give my 100%...CAT is unpredictable..so cant comment on that...

Really confused....help puys...also suggest if I quit...what effect would that make??

Not thinking of changing job at this stage as last year I suffered due to this....
